Of course not, because that morally ambiguous dispute is rightly remembered as a minor part of a much bigger drama.

[...]

The mood is reminiscent of Germany after World War I, when Germans complained about the "shameful Versailles diktat" imposed on a prostrate Germany by the victorious powers and about the corrupt politicians who stabbed the nation in the back.

Clip Source: www.alternet.org

Bill Kristol: [Georgia] has had the third-largest military presence -- about 2,000 troops -- fighting along with U.S. soldiers and marines in Iraq. For this reason alone, we owe Georgia a serious effort to defend its sovereignty. World leaders have appealed for a ceasefire in the conflict, which erupted
after Georgia launched a huge offensive aimed at imposing its control over
the rebel province with its large Russian population

Separatist leaders in the South Ossetian capital Tskhinvali claim that more
than a thousand people have been killed in Georgian shelling

We won't allow the death of our compatriots to go unpunished,"
 Russian President Dmitry Medvedev said

hat he would "protect
the lives and dignity of Russian citizens wherever they are located

President Mikheil Saakashvili of Georgia described the situation as "war

Sergei Lavrov, Russia's foreign minister, accused the Georgians of carrying
out "ethnic cleansing" on the people of South Ossetia, most of
 whom have Russian passports.

The conflict threatens to draw in other world powers, with Mr Saakashvili
considered a key ally of the West. The US has declared that it supports
 Georgia's "territorial integrity".

It will last 20 years or so and bring hardship and upheavals similar to previous fourth turnings, such as the American Revolution, the Civil War, and the Great Depression and World War II. The fourth turning is a perilous time because the result
could be a new 'golden age' for America or the beginning of the end.' A Crisis is a decisive era of secular upheaval. The values regime propels the replacement of the old civic order with a new one. Wars are waged with apocalyptic finality. Examples of Crisis eras include the Wars of the Roses (1459-1487), the Spanish Armada Crisis (1569-1594), the colonial Glorious Revolution (1675-1704), the American Revolution (1773-1794), the American Civil War (1860-1865), and the twin emergencies of the Great Depression and World War II (1932-1945), and now possibly the present time from September 11th, 2001.

High. A High is an era between a Crisis and an Awakening. The most recent High was seen between World War II and the Consciousness Revolution.

William Strauss and Neil Howe, in their books Generations (ISBN 0-688-11912-3) (1991) and The Fourth Turning (1997), divide Anglo-American history into saecula, or seasonal cycles of history

Clip Source: en.wikipedia.org

In their theory, just as history molds generations, so do generations mold history. Modern Anglo-American history runs on a two-stroke rhythm. The two strokes are an Awakening and a Crisis

Awakening

rising adults are driven by inner zeal to become philosophers, religious pundits, and hippies, alienating children (who see the adult world becoming more chaotic each day) and older generations alike. She claimed that using that measure she criticized the war in Iraq before Obama did.

But Clinton's claim was false.

<clipSource>http://www.huffingtonpost.com/2008/04/06/clinton-makes-false-claim_n_95285.html</clipSource>

Sin of Omisison: Tom Brokaw on the 60s

clipped by: zizzy
clipper's remarks:

http://www.newadvent.org/cathen/11251b.htm

Clip Source: www.truthdig.com

one reads the Vietnam War sections of Brokaw’s book with a growing sense of amazement, disbelief and, ultimately, profound sadness. For Brokaw has, incredibly, managed to compile a lengthy book about the 1960s that barely mentions the central event which created and shaped it. A reader of “Boom!” would have no idea that U.S. leaders pursued a war that killed enormous numbers of Indochinese civilians and that this mass murder was the single most important factor prompting the various domestic convulsions we now call “The ’60s.”

Is it really possible for America to have killed hundreds of thousands of Indochinese peasants and still, 30 years later, act as if it never happened?
