clipper's remarks: Michael Shermer makes a point that needs to be made. Atheists need to remember what they stand for, not merely what they are against. Ridicule and contempt have no place in science, and haters should not tarnish its reputation by association.

In the words of the greatest consciousness raiser of the 20th century, Martin Luther King, Jr., in his epic "I Have a Dream" speech: "In the process of gaining our rightful place, we must not be guilty of wrongful deeds. Let us not seek to satisfy our thirst for freedom by drinking from the cup of bitterness and hatred. We must forever conduct our struggle on the high plane of dignity and discipline."

If atheists do not want theists to prejudge them in a negative light, then they must not do unto theists the same.

In his new book, "In Defense of Food," what Michael Pollan advocates is nothing less than a wholesale rejection of the modern American food chain. It's a radical proposal in a time when "cooking from scratch and growing any of your own food qualify as subversive acts." Pollan argues convincingly that in recent decades, we have shifted from the traditional diets of our ancestors to what he calls the "western diet" - industrialized food, reconstituted, repackaged and redefined to conform with the latest whims of nutritional science.

It is a red shift that Pollan believes has set us adrift in a "treacherous food environment," bereft of "cultural tools to guide us through it." All this has brought us increased obesity, high blood pressure and diabetes along with the troubling paradox that "the more we worry about nutrition the less healthy we become."

What is life ? I wanted to get a unique definition of life from different persons like day-labourers, rickshaw-pullers, friends, colleagues, students, teachers, celebrities, domestic helps, high officials etc. Every person puzzled me. I am not satisfied with their definitions!

There appears to be no accountability here; the McCain campaign will trot out Palin to repeat her talking points no matter how many times the press reports that Palin campaigned for governor as a supporter of the bridge and only opposed it when it became obvious the federal government was going to cancel its funding.

Today, states receive roughly $50 per person in earmark funds from the federal government. Alaska gets a stunning $506 per person

Is Palin confusing earmarks with clipmarks?

clipper's remarks: In trying to resolve the difference between her actions and her words when it comes to earmarks, i'm thinking that she may be confusing earmarks with Clipmarks.

To the best of my knowledge, Palin has never supported Clipmarks. So, maybe that's what she's referring to and the word "ear" just keeps magically replacing the "clip".

Cause the facts sure seem to suggest that she supported earmarks before she decided to say she didn't.

Redmond, WA - Microsoft purchased evil from Satan for $2.7 billion after many months of tough negotiations.

"We've been after Satan for some time," said CEO Steve Ballmer. "Negotiations were tough, but I think both Microsoft and the Prince of Darkness are happy with this deal."

Microsoft already controls 15% of the evil market, and with this purchase that number nears 100%. The Department of Justice voiced concerns over one corporation controlling so much evil, and launched investigations.

"We feel that there are real opportunities with evil, and that when evil is integrated into our next generation of Windows products consumers will appreciate evil on their desktop," said Microsoft Chairman Bill Gates. "Businesses haven't been able to fully realize their evil potential. With evil integrated into Office XP, corporations big and small will begin to see enhanced evil productivity."

"Evil is a real growing market," market strategist Frank Dresgan of Merrill Lynch explained. "Microsoft is a little late in the game, but even when they enter a market late they still tend to dominate. I think we'll see the same results with evil."

Evil was founded by Satan close to the beginning of time. If the idea that this was a self-inflicted strikes you as unbelievable, then do some careful research on the internet, with an open mind, and be prepared to have your beliefs challenged. If that is not convincing, read one of the three books on the subject by the academic and theologian David Ray Griffin.
Let's hope this year the truth begins to be more widely disseminated. It is hard to watch Loose Change (easy to get on the internet) without concluding something is very amiss.

An explosion of disbelief - fresh doubts over 9/11

The official story of what happened on 9/11 never fails to shock. Four American airliners are hijacked by Osama Bin Laden's terrorists in an attack on the heart of the Western world on September 11, 2001.

Two are deliberately flown into New York's famous Twin Towers, which collapse. A third rams into the United States defence headquarters at the Pentagon, in Washington D.C.

Or that's how the official story goes.

Yet today, more than five years on, this accepted version of what happened on 9/11 is being challenged by a 90-minute internet movie made for £1,500 on a cheap laptop by three young American men. The film is so popular that up to 100 million viewers have watched what is being dubbed the first internet blockbuster.

Called Loose Change, the film is a blitz of statistics, photographs pinched from the web, eyewitness accounts and expert testimony, all set to hip-hop music. And it is dramatically changing the way people think about 9/11.

A recent poll by the respected New York Times revealed that three out of four Americans now suspect the U.S. government of not telling the truth about 9/11. This proportion has shot up from a year ago, when half the population said they did not believe the official story of an Al Qaeda attack.

Oh My Goodness! 450 Keg Theft

Dublin's famous Guinness brewery has been the victim of an audacious theft.

450 kegs were taken in Dublin robbery

A man drove a truck into the brewery on Victoria Quay, Dublin 8, yesterday evening; hitched up a trailer containing 450 kegs of different beers; and drove off into Dublin's traffic just as rush-hour got under way.

The haul contained 180 kegs of Guinness, 180 kegs of Budweiser and 90 kegs of Carlsberg and has a total value of €64,000. In the pubs, the loot would represent approximately 40,500 pints and a whopping bar tab of approximately €160,000.

The raid comes at one of the busiest times of the year for the brewery, which supplies 13,000 pubs across Ireland that are preparing for the brisk Christmas trading period.

Officers in Kevin Street Garda Station are investigating but a Garda spokesman said there was no sign of the missing truck, trailer or its driver.
