John McCain's daughter Meghan is not taking offense to Barack Obama's "lipstick on a pig" line like the rest of her father's campaign, pointing out Wednesday morning that GOP presidential nominee has been known to use the phrase.

"I've heard my dad say that, the term 'lipstick on a pig,'" McCain said during an appearance on Fox promoting her new children's book about her father.

Asked directly if she thought Obama was calling Alaska Gov. Sarah Palin (R) a pig, McCain said, "I don't know. I hope not. I mean, I hope not, but I have no idea."

The IOC will consider ending the international leg of the Beijing Olympic torch relay as a result of the anti-Chinese protests

International Olympic Committee president Jacques Rogge says the issue will be discussed by the organization's executive board on Friday.

Rogge told The Associated Press on Tuesday that he is "deeply saddened" by the violent protests in London and Paris and concerned about the upcoming torch relay in San Francisco.

He says the issue must be discussed by the ruling executive board.

Protest Poem written by Chinese poet follows the Olympic torch

The poem has arrived at Belgian (Dutch-Speaking), Belgian (French-speaking), Netherlands, German, Basque, Suisse Romand, Swiss German, Esperanto and Trieste Centres. On April 9 it goes to Swiss-Italian Reto-Romansh, Canadian and Quebecois PEN Centres, the American branch of the Writers in Exile Centre, and the proposed Haiti Centre.

The poem 'June' by imprisoned Chinese poet and journalist Shi Tao is relaying around the world, country to country, language to language, until it reaches Beijing for the Olympics in August.

PEN Centres around the world have translated 'June' to over 60 (and counting) of the world's languages.

Lhasa monks accuse Bejing of lying

Tibetan monks stormed a news briefing at a temple in Lhasa on Thursday, accusing Chinese authorities of lying about recent unrest and saying the Dalai Lama had nothing to do with the violence

The incident was an embarrassment to the Chinese government, which brought a select group of foreign reporters to Lhasa for a stage-managed tour of the city, where authorities say stability has been restored since violence broke out on March 14

About 30 young monks burst into the official briefing, shouting: 'Don't believe them. They are tricking you. They are telling lies

The monks said they had been unable to leave the temple since March 10

They just don't believe us. They think we will come out and cause havoc -- smash, destroy, rob, burn. We didn't do anything like that -- they're falsely accusing us

We want freedom. They have detained lamas and normal people

he incident lasted about 15 minutes, after which unarmed police took the monks elsewhere in the temple, away from the journalists.
