Coach Dies

NORTH LITTLE ROCK, Ark. (July 22) - Tulsa Drillers coach Mike Coolbaugh died Sunday night after being struck in the head by a line drive as he stood in the first-base coach's box during a Texas League game with the Arkansas Travelers, police said.

The game was suspended in the ninth inning after Coolbaugh was struck by a hard-hit foul ball off the bat of Tino Sanchez and taken to Baptist Medical Center-North Little Rock.

Phil Elson, spokesman for the Travelers, said Coolbaugh was struck by the ball on the right side of his head, or on the forehead

Sgt. Terry Kuykendall, spokesman for North Little Rock police, said Coolbaugh was still alive when he was put in an ambulance for the trip to the hospital, but stopped breathing as the ambulance arrived at the facility.

"They tried to resuscitate him, but he was pronounced dead at 9:47 p.m.," Kuykendall said.

Coolbaugh played 44 games in the major leagues over two seasons

That's according to Don Nelson's attorney, John O'Connor, who said Cuban is suing Nelson, claiming the Warriors beat the Mavs in the first round because the Warriors' coach -- and former coach of the Mavs -- had "confidential information and he [Cuban] wants to enjoin Don from coaching against the Mavericks."

Mavericks owner Mark Cuban believes Golden State's sizzling shooting alone didn't sink his basketball team in the most stunning playoff defeat in NBA history.

Our column last week — on the folly of this week’s e-mail-hyped gasoline ‘boycott’ — drew a ton of mail. Many readers took issue with our view that not buying gas on Wednesday — and just topping off on Tuesday or Thursday — will have zero impact on prices.

Some were critical of our willingness to punch holes in proposed solutions without offering any of our own. (We suggest they read last week’s column all the way through.) Since many people missed the real solution, we’re going to give it one more shot.

Shooter Sent Package to NBC

BLACKSBURG, Va. (AP) -- Between his first and second bursts of gunfire, the Virginia Tech gunman mailed a package to NBC News containing images of him brandishing weapons and video of him delivering a diatribe about getting even with rich people.

NBC said that a time stamp on the package indicated the material was mailed in the two-hour window between the first burst of gunfire in a high-rise dormitory and the second fusillade, at a classroom building. Thirty-three people died in the rampage, including the gunman, 23-year-old student Cho Seung-Hui, who committed suicide.

Like a Broadway show in the midst of an endless run, The Price Is Right has changed little in the last 35 years. The three female models collectively known as Barker's Beauties still introduce dining room sets, trips to Fiji, and new cars. Specific games have come and gone, but longtime favorites like Plinko, Cliff Hanger, and In the Bag remain. And while Rich Fields may be the third announcer in the show's history, he still issues the classic invitation: "Come on down! You're the next contestant on The Price is Right!"

A shake-up, however, is on the way. This coming June, host Bob Barker will retire. And on the Los Angeles set-Stage 33 at CBS Television City-there's some trepidation about the future. As the network auditions such potential replacements as George Hamilton and George Lopez, even executive producer Roger Dobkowitz, who started working at the show in 1972, is in the dark about what's next

NEW YORK, March 7 (Reuters) - A film studio owned by technology and media entrepreneur Mark Cuban asked a U.S. federal court to force Google Inc. (GOOG.O: Quote, Profile , Research) to identify people who put its copyrighted videos on Google Video and YouTube, Cuban said on Wednesday.

Magnolia Pictures, whose films include "Enron: The Smartest Guys in the Room" and director Steven Soderbergh's "Bubble," asked a Dallas federal court to issue a subpoena to Google.

"We don't expect to get valid user information," Cuban said in an e-mail correspondence. "If we do, we will contact them and ask them what induced them to upload content they don't own."

The subpoena was filed on March 6. An amended version of the subpoena filed on Wednesday asked Google to provide the information by March 20, a court official said.

Verizon Wireless Kicks Off Mobile Phone TV

NEW YORK (Reuters) - Verizon Wireless, the second-biggest U.S. mobile phone provider, launched television services on its phones, run by Qualcomm Inc. unit MediaFlo, in 20 U.S. markets on Thursday.

Verizon Wireless, a venture of Verizon Communications Inc. and Vodafone Group Plc, said it is charging $15 a month for the service, which includes eight channels that broadcast full-length TV shows to phones 24 hours a day.

The picture quality of the new service would be on a par with home TV and roughly twice as clear as Verizon Wireless' existing Vcast video service, spokesman Jeff Nelson said.

Available channels include a live feed from MTV, and programming from CBS Corp., NBC, ESPN, Fox, Nickelodeon and Comedy Central. Some programs are shown at the same time as regular TV, while others are rescheduled to match the heaviest mobile phone television viewing times, Nelson said.

You can see the nervousness every time a racecar is put through the inspection bay at Daytona International Speedway. It's in the way the crew guys bite their nails, fidget around, pace back and forth, and intently watch as a team of white-shirted NASCAR inspectors picks over every inch of their car with the patience and diligence of a doctor trying to diagnose the most complex of medical problems.

The NASCAR inspectors have been busy during this historical week of cheating at Daytona. Five crew chiefs have been suspended, one (David Hayder of Michael Waltrip Racing) was hit with a record-setting fine of $100,000, and one driver (Waltrip) narrowly escaped being booted off the Daytona premises after a mysterious Vaseline-like substance was found in his fuel.

Bush gets moles removed

WASHINGTON (CNN) -- Two moles President Bush had removed from his face Friday were benign, White House spokesman Alex Conant said Saturday.

Dermatologist Steve Krivda from Walter Reed Army Medical Center/ National Naval Medical Center and Bush's regular doctor, Richard Tubb, removed the moles from Bush's left temple using a local anesthetic, White House spokesman Scott Stanzel said.

Bush has a 1-inch scab on his left temple that is expected to heal in a week to 10 days, but he does not have a bandage, Stanzel said.

He said Bush noticed one mole and had Tubb examine it Monday. Tubb then noticed the second mole and suggested they both be removed. Tests indicated they were not cancerous, according to the White House.

Bush had lesions removed from his face in December 2001 and December 2004. His most recent physical was in August 2006, the White House said.

LOS ANGELES, California (AP) -- Britney Spears appeared in a tattoo parlor in the San Fernando Valley with her head shaved completely bald.

Video on KABC-TV showed the newly shorn Spears with tiny tattoos on the back of her neck as she sits Friday night for a new tattoo -- a pair of red and pink lips.

"She just wanted something real small on her wrist, something dainty," Max Gott, the tattoo artist at Body and Soul in Sherman Oaks, told the TV station. "She got some cute little lips on her wrist." (Watch a bald Britney Spears in the tattoo parlor )

Derrik Snell, who works at the tattoo parlor, said Spears showed up without notice and stayed for about 90 minutes as about 60 fans, photographers and gawkers gathered outside.

     A mother took her three-year-old daughter to church for the first time. The church lights were lowered, and then the choir came down the aisle, carrying lighted candles. All was quiet, until the little one started to sing in a loud voice,

A little boy was attending his first wedding. After the service, his cousin asked him, "How many women can a man marry?" "Sixteen," the boy responded. His cousin was amazed that he knew the answer so quickly. "How do you know that?" "Easy," the little boy said. "All you have to do is add it up, like the Bishop said:
