The arrest of two Muslim extremists at the Cologne-Bonn airport last week shows that German converts continue to volunteer for the jihad. Investigators fear that some are on their way back now that they've received training.

The arrest of the duo was the result of an ongoing covert operation run by the Federal Office for the Protection of the Constitution (BfV), Germany's domestic intelligence agency. Investigators have long been keeping tabs on Islamists from Germany as they head for the Hindu Kush to train for the Jihad. For a number of weeks now, agents have maintained surveillance on a group of young fanatics in the Bonn region who are closely linked to the two detained German-Somalis. All these men are preparing to leave their lives in Germany behind them. Some have already given notice for their apartments, others have said farewell to friends.

Women "vow to raise kids for holy war"

HUNDREDS of Islamist women gathered at the radical Red Mosque in Pakistani capital today and vowed to raise their children for holy war, days after a suicide bomber killed 18 people after a similar rally.

Chanting slogans of "jihad is our way", burqa-clad women, some with babies, listened to fiery speeches from the daughter of the mosque's jailed cleric on the eve of the anniversary of a commando raid on the complex in which more than 100 people died.

"Our mujahideen (fighters) laid down their lives for the enforcement of the Islamic system in Pakistan. We are left behind to carry forward their mission," the daughter of cleric Abdul Aziz told the tightly guarded rally in the mosque compound.

I have come to believe that the Western way of life — which I’ll define in brief as life lived according to Judeo-Christian-evolved morality and liberty — is imperiled by the demographic spread and influence of Islamic ideology and laws. Notice I didn’t say the spread of “Islamism.” Or “Islamist-ism.” Or “Islamofascism.” Or just “Wahhabism.” Or “fundamentalist militant extremism.” Over the years, I have used most of these “ists” and “isms” in my column, trying them out one by one until I got to the point where I realized they were serving as a distraction, a form of verbal camouflage that turns our attention away from the ideology and laws of Islam itself. In the cause of not-giving-offense — the highest cause of Westerners-turned-multiculturalists—we have prevented ourselves from undertaking a hard-eyed appraisal of Islamic ideology as a whole, jihadism included, and engaging in a serious discussion of how to contain it.

The June 2007 military coup in Gaza honed the differences, and intensified the tension, between Hamas, which is a branch of the Muslim Brotherhood, and the jihadi Salafi groups in Gaza, which identify with Al-Qaeda and its goals. [1] The latter groups, which include Jaysh Al-Islam and Fath Al-Islam in Gaza, have persistently called on Hamas to declare Gaza an Islamic emirate, to impose shari'a law fully and exclusively, and to launch a relentless and uncompromising jihad against Israel.

Hamas' refusal to comply with these demands has triggered a power struggle, with Hamas trying to repress the Salafi groups as the groups attempt to evade being controlled by Hamas and to pursue their own agenda.

IAEA on the potential of nuclear terrorism

The International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) has warned that terrorists might detonate a "dirty bomb" in a major city sooner than later.

William Nye, Home Office director of counter-terrorism and intelligence, told delegates that al-Qaida is actively seeking high-grade uranium and plutonium in order to detonate a "dirty bomb" in major cities such as London or Washington.

"As the terrorists look for the next spectacular attack, we know that al-Qaida in Iraq is calling on nuclear scientists to join in the jihad. Combating this threat requires international cooperation," The Scotsman quoted Nye, as saying.

"Nuclear terrorism has been recognised as a genuine threat since the 1970s, and we have evidence that al-Qaida has been trying to acquire material since the 1990s. But since 9/11 the risk has become a widespread international concern,"

The leader of al Qaeda in Iraq recently offered a bounty encouraging the assassination of a Swedish cartoonist and his editor for having published drawings deemed insulting to the religion of Islam.

What the "Jihad bounty" tells us loud and clear is this: al Qaeda's operation in Iraq is not, nor will it be, "only" about an American, Western or international presence. As the AQI press release shows, there is clear evidence that those who are beheading, killing, maiming, kidnapping and blowing up people and things in the Sunni Triangle and in the rest of Iraq have an agenda of international violence.

The answer is simple: The Iraqi branch of al Qaeda is using a cartoon published in Sweden, "deep inside infidel land", to tell the world, Muslims and non-Muslims alike, that the emirate they want to build in Iraq -- with blood and death -- will have very long arms, capable of reaching Europe, America and beyond.

Bin Laden urges holy war on Pakistan

Al-Qaeda leader Osama Bin Laden has called on Pakistanis to overthrow President Pervez Musharraf.

In a new audio tape, Bin Laden promised what he called retaliation for the storming of the radical Red Mosque in the capital, Islamabad, in July.

He said the army operation, in which more than 100 people were killed, made Gen Musharraf an infidel.

In the tape, Bin Laden says it is now the duty of Muslims to rebel against what he calls the "apostate leader".

New Terrorist Attack in India

Almost after three months, Hyderabad city (India) has been rocked again by twin explosions that occurred within a gap of fifteen minutes and reportedly killed over 30 people. The first explosion took place inside Lumbini Amusement Park where a laser show was on at the time of the blast and reportedly watched by hundreds of spectators. Another blast took place at Gokul eatery in Koti area, a busy market place. Here the casualty was higher. Unofficial sources though put the toll near 40, police and eyewitnesses claim that the figure could rise as many critically injured people were taken to different hospitals in the city. Police has managed to recover another bomb from Dilsukhnagar area of the city and defused it in time, certainly averting another gruesome tragedy. The live bomb was reportedly planted underneath a foot-over-bridge with a timer set for 9.30 pm. There are reports of couple of other bombs planted and later defused by anti bomb squads.

Saudi Rehab for Terrorists

A new program in Saudi Arabia is offering young terrorists rehabilitation from a life of violence in the name of jihad. A Saudi government-sanctioned program to try to reverse the terrorist way of thinking has already begun to help some participants who have survived their own crimes.

Ahmed al-Shayea, for instance, is recovering not only from being a member of Al Qaeda, but from the burns over most of his body and missing fingers that are the result of an attack he carried out three years ago in Baghdad.

Al-Shayea is the among the newest members to join hundreds of other Islamic fighters, including detainees released from Guantanamo Bay, at a halfway house located on the outskirts of the provincial capital of Al Janderea.

"I regret strongly for what I had done because unfortunately I was instead of building Islam, I was destroying Islam," said Saleh.

U.S. law enforcement officials say they have identified more than two dozen "clusters" of young Muslim men in the northeast United States who are on a path that could lead to homegrown terror, ABC News has learned.

"Any one of those clusters may be capable of carrying out a terrorist action that will result in fatalities," Rand Corporation terrorism expert Brian Jenkins tells ABC News.

In a report to be made public today, New York City Police Commissioner Ray Kelly concludes the 9/ll attacks were an "anomaly" and the most serious terror threat to the country comes from clusters of "unremarkable" individuals who are on a path that could lead to homegrown terror.

Iraqi terrorist Ramzi Hashem Abed sang like a bird after being arrested for terrorist activity explaining his mission with al-Zarqawi, former head of al-Qaeda in Iraq, as part of Osama bin Laden’s terror network. He said that bin Laden’s al-Qaeda had been training in Fallujah….. UNDER SADDAM HUSSEIN’S REGIME…. until they were chased out through Mosul by U.S. forces. He then described them as “scattered”.

Ramzi Hashem Abed also described the brutality of al-Qaeda as Iraqi Police LT Muhammad reprimanded him for calling his acts of rape and murder “Jihad”.

Amy Proctor has footage of interrogations of al-Qaeda operatives by Iraqi police during 2005. The videos were aired on Iraqi TV in August 2005 but somehow were never viewed by American audiences.

Increasingly, the angry speeches of Iran’s President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad reveal a desperate president in need of a conflict. Just a few days ago, he crossed a key rhetorical red line by expressing open hostility towards both Judaism and Christianity.

While his rhetoric may seem completely reckless to the western world, in the past, there have been certain limits beyond which Mahmoud Ahmadinejad did not dare to venture.

But this past week, he crossed a line which should be taken as a warning signal.

In the past, the Iranian has claimed that his problem is with political ideologies and not religion.

But on Friday, June 15th speaking at an Islamic seminary school, Ahmadinejad charged that “ideologies deviating from God’s teachings are being spread with dollars in the name of Judaism and Christianity around the world.

The more threatened Ahmadinejad feels, the more he will be looking for a conflict to survive. The Western world needs to think very carefully before giving him what he wants.

Dirty Bomb Threat Rising.

The threat of terrorists attacking Britain with a radioactive "dirty bomb" has grown rapidly in recent months, a leading defence expert has warned.

The Sunday Telegraph has learned that in an effort to combat the growing threat, the Government has begun secretly installing radiation detectors and X-ray machines at ports, which are perceived to be less secure than airports. The first of the devices, which scan cargo and containers for hazardous material, is already in operation at Southampton. It has been donated by US authorities under Washington's Secure Freight Initiative.

Detectors have also been installed at Port Busan in South Korea, whose neighbour North Korea exploded an atom bomb in a test last year, and at Port Qasim in Karachi, Pakistan.

Eliza Manningham-Buller, the former head of MI5, warned three years ago that it was "only a matter of time" until terrorists launched a dirty bomb attack on the West.

U.S. and German officials fear terrorists are in the advanced planning stages of an attack on U.S. military personnel or tourists in Germany.

Law enforcement officials tell the Blotter on ABCNews.com that U.S. air marshals have been diverted to provide expanded protection of flights between Germany and the United States.

"The information behind the threat is very real," a senior U.S. official told ABC News.

"There are 300 to 500 people who are suspected to be part of al Qaeda cells in Germany,"
