If the world’s population was reduced to 100, it would look something like this… This website throws open some startling statistics about the humans on this planet. Here are some of them:

9 would be disabled
43 live without basic sanitation, 18 live without an improved water source
6 people own 59% of the wealth
13 are hungry or malnourished
14 can’t read, 7 are educated to a secondary level
12 have a computer, 3 have an internet connection
1 adult between 15-49 years of age has aids
Defense expenditure is $1.12 trillion and $100 billion on development aid
If you have a fridge, a closet, a bed, and a roof on your head, then you are richer than 75%
If you have a bank account that you are amongst top 30 richest

Well, although this might be another one of Microsoft’s attempt to get people to use Live Search (personally, I like Live Search), but the argument to do it is pretty compelling. Microsoft will donate to www.ninemillion.org every time a search is performed on this Windows Live page. Search here. Below is the screenshot:

It’s up there till the end of this month.

Gah! The most powerful earthquake in Australian history—December 28, 1989, magnitude 5.6, epicenter Newcastle, New South Wales, killed 13 people, $3.5 billion damage—was caused by human beings! The largest human gathering ever has been photographed from space by a high resolution imaging satellite.

Over 70 million people are expected to attend a Hindu spiritual event in northern India called the Maha Kumbh Mela. The pilgrims gather at a sacred location on the Ganges River, 15 kilometres from Allahabad, for more than a month of bathing rituals. The activities are intended to wash away their sins and hasten the Hindu people's progress toward nirvana.

The one-metre resolution image was collected by Space Imaging's IKONOS satellite, travelling at over 6 kilometres per second, 677 kilometres above the Earth. It shows red-robed bathers at the confluence of the Ganges, Yamuna and mythical Saraswati rivers.

Upcoming Features

Here is a list of upcoming features/changes that we are currently working on:

Increase the limit of the Sync window in SyncMyCal Lite from 3 to 6 - yes, we figured 3 days is way too little for proper usability, so now in the Lite version, you can Sync up to 6 days. Of course, if you want to sync without a limit, you can buy the professional version.
Syncing with PDA/Phones with Windows Mobile on them.
Better Installers - we feel the current ones are not good enough, and the install should really be just One-Click

Also, we might begin working on allowing SyncMyCal to integrate with 30Boxes. So, when we release that, you will be able to use the same tool with two of the most popular online calendar services: GCal and 30Boxes.

Touted as the world's first luxury hotel to be constructed beneath the waves, Hydropolis will cost $500m to erect and is the brainchild of General Sheikh Mohammed Bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Prince of Dubai (Where else?)

The completed destination will offer 220 suites, a high tech cinema, restaurants, and various "Undah tha sea!"-themed entertainment hijinks.

I love that at least somewhere on Earth, crazed plans like this seem to get to within a whiff of actual construction without the kind of endless whining and compromise that destroys the architectural purity of everything built in the West. On the other hand, that is one extraordinarily phallic hotel.
