I am showing you the 2007 Globes from Chicago: To remind you that from April 17 to September 1, 2008, a selection of globes will once again be on display in Chicago, Washington, DC and San Francisco.

Cool Globes debuted in Chicago on June 1, 2007 with over 100 sculpted globes. Cool Globes was launched in Chicago because of the City's leadership and dedication to promoting environmentally sound policies.

For the 2007 globes, there was a charity auction of select large and mini-globes from the Cool Globes exhibit. The auction raised $500,000 to fund the expansion of environmental education programs.

clipper's remarks: Simin Marefat, an unstoppable nurse: For almost 10 years, wherever she went, she saw enormous need and a huge deficit of resources around the globe from Iran, Afghanistan and Pakistan to Chile, Argentina, Peru and Bolivia.

She organized a benefit in 2006 that raised $14,000: the proceeds helped Orphans of Rwanda to build a health clinic at Gisimba Memorial Center. She visited the clinic in June 2007 to see that the children all have health cards with their pictures and vaccinations and medications. They have a nurse who provides for them. She then organized a second benefit which raised $18,000: the proceeds will cover tuition for 34 Orphans of Rwanda to go to school.

Fleeing Iran, her family arrived in the United States in 1986 to Hays, Kansas. It was that odyssey, beginning with escape, displacement, discrimination and eventual acceptance, Marefat says, that taught her anything was possible.

Nurse Turns Home into Lower 9th Ward Health Clinic

clipper's remarks: After Katrina, the Charity Hospital, which for generations provided care to the poor and uninsured, did not re-open. There are plans for new hospitals, but no one expects a system as extensive as the one pre-Katrina.

Neighborhood clinics like this one will be the future of health care in New Orleans.

the story of health-care delivery in post-Katrina New Orleans, where clinics have cropped up in corner groceries and old department stores, and Good Samaritans are stepping in to mend broken bodies and souls.

Medical centers devastated by floodwaters remain closed, with the number of beds available to the sick cut in half.

But the blue house at the corner of St. Claude Avenue and Egania Street is open for business, dispensing free health care to anyone in need.

The Lower 9th Ward Health Clinic is its official name now.

''A medical home,'' Patricia Berryhill calls the facility

Before Katrina, this was Berryhill's own home. The living room where her kids congregated after school serves as a waiting area now, its walls painted a peaceful powder blue. The bedrooms are exam cubicles, the kitchen a file room and office.

Berryhill, a registered nurse, still spends almost every day at 5228 St. Claude, working as medical director of the clinic, lording over it as she once did her household.

Florida Teen Runs Boutique Clothing Store For Girls in Need

Lindsay, 17, oversees a boutique offering clothing to girls in foster care, handling $1 million worth of donated apparel last year from designers, retailers and people from as far away as Tokyo.

now serves about 300 young women in the Fort Lauderdale area, each getting up to six garments a month. Girls in the foster care system, or who recently left it after turning 18, are invited.

When people heard about her project, they gave her office space for the boutique, donated services and material to build it, and sent her brand-new clothing to fill the racks and shelves _ and a warehouse in the back to hold everything that passes the boutique's ''like-new,'' high-fashion threshold.

After watching the 2003 movie "Calendar Girls,"

three female residents decided to pose for their own fundraising calendar, which would benefit Greenspring's Benevolent Care Fund that was set up to support residents who, despite careful planning, outlive their financial resources.

The fund enables residents to remain at Greenspring, knowing they will always receive the care they deserve.

"The Ladies of Greenspring" 2008 calendar will feature 12 models, each of whom posed with little more than their props

These ladies are having so much fun. It was really important for them to get involved, raise some money for Benevolent Care and to show everyone that life doesn't stop just because you get older

They're also really hoping to inspire the men of Greenspring to put together a 2009 calendar
