The Smash Shack was the result of a low-point in Sarah's life, when her husband of 12 years left her....She turned to the only way she knew how to relieve her anger....Every morning, she would go out her front door and smash his belongings.

When she moved back to California, she missed that release of anger & she realized that other people might need that form of "therapy" too. The Smash Shack has now become a refuge for frustrated people old & young who wanted an outlet for their aggression.

Winter Sunrise Creates Apocalyptic Clouds: A Terrifying Beauty

The pictures show a thin layer of medium-level cloud that has been pummeled by winds churned up between the glaciers below.

The angle of the rising sun helped to highlight the different colors and intricate patterns.

'It looked apocalyptic and like a scene from one of the Lord of the Rings movies,' Mr Cherry said.

The award-winning photographic pair were staying in the Inuit community of Qaanaaq, about 800 miles from the North Pole, when the apocalyptic cloud colouring began over Inglefield Bay.

'I went outside and was stunned by the beautiful and dramatic cloud formation. I just couldn't believe my eyes. I have worked in the Arctic regularly for the past 37 years and I had never seen the sky like it.'

'The wind comes in from one side, is lifted up over the mountains and hits the clouds before coming down again. It's a dramatic example of what is known as an orographic effect.'

'Because of the northern winter, the sun rises later and later the nearer you are to the North Pole. That's why even though the pictures were taken at dawn, it was actually ten in the morning.'

For Mr Cherry, it was a once-in-a-lifetime photographic event.

Mr Cherry said: 'Just about everybody in the village was amazed, including an elderly Inuit hunter who told me that he had never seen anything like that before in his life.'

A few months ago

Nappanee, Indiana was hit by an EF3 tornado that destroyed a very large portion of its homes and businesses

we were expecting to see piles of debris and wreckage

what we mostly saw were brand new buildings that had been freshly rebuilt upon their standing foundations

This was only three weeks after disaster struck

at least 75% of what had been damaged was already completely fixed

how could this reconstruction be?

The answer: Amish people.

their organization of the reconstruction effort began first thing in the morning after the tornado hit

Amish people came in from Ohio and even as far as Pennsylvania to assist their brothers in need

All we ask is that if it happens to us, you do the same thing for us that we have done for you.

How can we, as modern day, non-Amish Americans really be a more kind, generous, thoughtful and selfless nation?

How can we build our ethics and our compassion and our morality? How can we learn from the Amish? Not as individuals, but as a community?

The lakes span 10,900 miles of coastline along the United States and Canada. The surface area of the lakes is larger than the states of New York, New Jersey, Connecticut, Rhode Island, Massachusetts, Vermont and New Hampshire combined.

In 1998, there was a Lake Superior-based company in Ontario that proposed to take water by tanker out of Lake Superior to Asia.

This proposal failed and spurred the Great Lakes governors to take action. In 2001, they agreed to a framework to begin negotiating the compact. By 2005, they had a deal to take to their state legislatures...the base for the Great Lakes Basin Compact.

It says clearly that the Great Lakes should not be the long-term water supply answer for any other part of the world or any other part of the country.

The eight Great Lakes states are on the verge of sending to Congress an accord that would keep water from being diverted out of the Great Lakes watershed.

The five Great Lakes — Superior, Huron, Michigan, Erie and Ontario — contain about 90 percent of the fresh surface water in the U.S. and about one-fifth of the entire world's supply.

The Great Lakes Water Compact aims to protect the lakes from large-scale water diversions.

In addition to Pennsylvania, the Great Lakes compact has been approved by the states of Minnesota, Wisconsin, Illinois, Indiana, Michigan, Ohio and New York.
