Work vs Prison

IN PRISON... you spend the majority of your time in an 8X10 cell.

AT WORK... you spend the majority of your time in a 6X8 cubicle.

IN PRISON... you get three meals a day.

AT WORK... you only get a break for one meal and you have to pay for it.

IN PRISON... you get time off for good behavior.

AT WORK... you get more work for good behavior.

IN PRISON... the guard locks and unlocks all the doors for you.

AT WORK... you must carry around a security card and open all the doors for yourself.

IN PRISON... you can watch TV and play games.

AT WORK... you get fired for watching TV and playing games.

IN PRISON... you get your own toilet.

AT WORK... you have to share with some idiot who pees on the seat.

IN PRISON...they allow your family and friends to visit.

AT WORK...you can't even speak to your family.

IN PRISON... all expenses are paid by the taxpayers with no work required

AT WORK... you get to pay all the expenses to go to work and then they deduct taxes from your salary to pay for prisoners.

IN PRISON... you spend most of your life inside bars wanting to get out.

AT WORK... you spend most of your time wanting to get out and go inside bars.

IN PRISON... you must deal with sadistic wardens.

AT WORK... they are called managers.

So why is it, again, that we work?

DIYARBAKIR, TURKEY — Desperately unhappy, 21-year-old Sahe Fidan left the husband she despised and sought refuge in her parents’ home. They refused to take her in. A married woman can leave her husband only in a coffin, they told her.

Fidan returned to the husband, and she left him in a coffin. A few weeks ago, she was found hanged in the bathroom, her infant son strapped to her back with a sheet.

Her corpse was discovered when the baby, unharmed, began to cry. Fidan had committed suicide.

Or had she?

After her death in a village in southeastern Turkey, another version circulated. Some activists and officials suspect that Fidan may have joined the ranks of Turkish women forced to kill themselves, or whose slayings are disguised to look self-inflicted.

The killing of women and girls by male relatives who think the females have brought shame to the family’s honor is an atrocity that has plagued Turkey and other Islamic countries for generations. Thousands of women have died, been attacked or compelled to commit suicide in so-called honor killings.

In Turkey, the government has finally taken action. Under pressure from an invigorated women’s movement and eager to win approval from the European Union, the government has launched a major campaign against honor killings, at a level and with a breadth virtually unheard of in the Islamic world.

In October 2006, the Melbourne Herald Sun reported incorrectly that Vegemite was banned in the USA, with Customs officials going so far as to search Australians for Vegemite when they enter the country.^[1]^[2] The origin of the story appears to have been an anecdote from a traveler who claims to have been searched, and a spokesperson for Kraft Foods who made a misinformed comment to reporters. The story incited anti-American comments on blogs and in newspapers. The Melbourne Herald Sun blamed the President of the USA for the ban, and encouraged readers to post comments on its website and send email to the White House to "Tell Bush to Back off." The Food and Drug Administration later stated that although it is technically illegal to add folate to food products other than bread or cereal, there were no plans to investigate whether Vegemite does this, to subject it to an import ban, or to pull it from American supermarket shelves. The U.S. Customs and Border Protection also tried to dispel the rumour, stating on its website that "there is no known prohibition on the importation of Vegemite" and "there is no official policy within CBP targeting Vegemite for interception." ^[3] Despite these public statements, the story has reached urban legend status.^[4] While Vegemite has never been abundant in the U.S., it can still be purchased at some stores that stock imported foods. ^[5]

New Fad: The Ram Pod

Kid's imaginations these days seems limited to one thing: finding creative ways to mutilate one's body. As if tattoos and piercing weren't enough, we now have the Ram Pod.

"Rampodding," as it's known among the people who frequent drug-infested rave clubs in Los Angeles, is inserting an iPod (usually the iPod shuffle) up your own anus. To maximize the effect, a person rampodding will typically wear nothing but a thong to "prove" where his or her iPod is; the white wire leading up the center of the rampodder's back to the ear buds.

It's unknown whether Apple was in on this idea, but it's an interesting coincidence that the the curved edges and size and shape of the shuffle facilitate anal insertion. There's a healthy aftermarket for rampodding accessories, like these waterproof cases:

In a pinch, a rampodder simply puts the iPod shuffle inside a condom and inserts it.

There's considerable danger associated with this. The batteries inside can short and explode, causing burns. Rectums can tear. And you can spread AIDS by sharing iPods that have been used for rampodding.

Sometimes it's hard to get your rampodded shuffle out. Emergency rooms all over California have had to deal with emergency iPod extractions.

This x-ray photograph clearly shows a shuffle stuck up a rectum!

The readers of Angry Frozen Head probably would never consider doing something as foolish as rampodding. We do caution you:

Never buy a used iPod shuffle on eBay. You never know where it has been.
Make sure your kids understand the danger of inserting anything up a rectum! Remember the old rule: Never put anything in your rectum bigger than your elbow. (Or something like that.)

Skeptics say it is absurd to think that a huge ape roams the American wilderness.

No carcass has ever turned up, and many footprint "discoveries" over the years have been correctly dismissed as hoaxes, Meldrum concedes in his book.

Ray Wallace, a force behind the 1958 footprint discovery and a source of Bigfoot photographs over the years, famously confessed on his deathbed four years ago that the hulking creature once captured on film was really his wife dressed in a gorilla suit.

On the other hand, no one has ever proved that Bigfoot doesn't exist.

Into this void comes the 297-page book, published by Forge. It's an entertaining compendium of Bigfootology.

A chart compares estimated physical dimensions of one purported Sasquatch with Arnold Schwarzenegger "at the peak of his bodybuilding career." The California governor comes off as a pipsqueak next to the 7-foot-4, 700-pound creature. Sasquatch's 68-inch waist is twice the size listed for Schwarzenegger, and he — or she — takes thigh size going away, 46" to 28.5".

"The spaghetti harvest here in Switzerland is not, of course, carried out on anything like the tremendous scale of the Italian industry," Dimbleby informed the audience. "Many of you, I'm sure," he continued, "will have seen pictures of the vast spaghetti plantations in the Po valley. For the Swiss, however, it tends to be more of a family affair."

On April 1, 1957 the British news show, Panorama, broadcast a segment about a bumper spaghetti harvest in southern Switzerland. The success of the crop was attributed to an unusually mild winter. The audience heard Richard Dimbleby, the show's highly respected anchor, discussing the details of the spaghetti crop as they watched a rural Swiss family pulling pasta off spaghetti trees and placing it into baskets.
