Report: 98 Percent Of U.S. Commuters Favor Public Transportation For Others

WASHINGTON, DC–A study released Monday by the American Public Transportation Association reveals that 98 percent of Americans support the use of mass transit by others.

Americans have finally recognized the need for everyone else to do exactly that.

Of the study's 5,200 participants, 44 percent cited faster commutes as the primary reason to expand public transportation, followed closely by shorter lines at the gas station. Environmental and energy concerns ranked a distant third and fourth, respectively.

"People need to realize that public transportation isn't just for some poor sucker to take to work," Collier said. "He should also be taking it to the shopping mall, the supermarket, and the laundromat."

Where are all of the Hollywood celebrities holding telethons asking for help in restoring Iowa and helping the folks affected by the floods?

Why isn't the Federal Government relocating Iowa people to free hotels in Chicago and handing out free debit cards?

When will Spike Lee say that the Federal Government blew up the levees that failed in Des Moines?

Where are all the looters stealing high-end tennis shoes and big screen television sets?

When will we hear Governor Chet Culver say that he wants to rebuild a vanilla Iowa, because that's the way God wants it?

Where are the people declaring that George Bush hates white, rural people?

How come in two weeks, you will never hear about the Iowa flooding ever again?

AVG disguises fake traffic as IE6

In late February, AVG paired its updated anti-virus engine with a real-time malware scanner that vets search engine results before you click on them. If you search Google, for instance, this LinkScanner automatically visits each address that turns up on Google's results page.

According to the company, more than 20 million people have downloaded the new AVG 8, and this has caused a huge up-tick in traffic on sites across the web

Because the scanner attempts to disguise itself as a real live human click, webmasters who rely on log files for their traffic numbers may be unaware their stats are skewed. And others complain that LinkScanner has added extra dollars to their bandwidth bill.

Daniel Brandt, who runs Wikipedia Watch, estimates that LinkScanner traffic to the site has outstripped legitimate clicks by nearly ten times. In this graph, the pink line represents suspected LinkScanner scans, the blue line legitimate clicks:

Democrats couldn't care less about high gas prices. The consistent policy of the Democratic Party, going back at least to Jimmy Carter, has been to jack up gas prices so we can all start pedaling around on tricycles.

In response to skyrocketing gas prices, liberals say, practically in unison, "We can't drill our way out of this crisis."

Seriously, what does it mean? Finding more oil isn't going to increase the supply of oil?

Liberals complain that -- as B. Hussein Obama put it -- there's "no way that allowing offshore drilling would lower gas prices right now. At best you are looking at five years or more down the road."

This is as opposed to airplanes that run on woodchips, which should be up and running any moment now.

they could have proposed drilling five years ago!

We'd be gushing oil now -- except the Democrats stopped us from drilling.

With the last version of NDepend, we polished one particular scenario that I would like to describe properly: The possibility to store CQL rules inside source code.

Consider this piece of code:

let's write a custom convention that checks that:

When a method is calling the method Foo1(), it must also call the method Foo2(int).

Right click the editor and select: Copy to clipboard to insert this query in C# source code ...

... and paste the clipboard content just before the Fct1() method definition. An attribute is now tagging the Fct1() method definition.

It makes sense to declare such constraint near the Foo1() / Foo2(int) methods definitions. This way, during code review or refactoring developers cannot miss it. This is active documentation.

There will be a sign on the woman’s door that can be changed from OPEN to CLOSED and vice versa. Should you need to enter the server room, please change the sign to CLOSED. Once you are done, please change it back to OPEN. Once you enter the bathroom, you will be able to access the server room via the handicapped stall. Please close the stall door prior to entry, just in case someone doesn’t see that the bathroom is closed. I know this isn’t ideal, but if we adhere to this protocol, I don’t think anyone will be disrupted. Thanks! Let me know if you have any questions. ---- -------- Building Management

It is unquestionable that Bush has made this country safe by keeping Islamic lunatics pinned down fighting our troops in Iraq. In the past few years, our brave troops have killed more than 20,000 al-Qaida and other Islamic militants in Iraq alone. That's 20,000 terrorists who will never board a plane headed for JFK -- or a landmark building, for that matter.

We are, in fact, fighting them over there so we don't have to fight them at, say, the corner of 72nd and Columbus in Manhattan -- the mere mention of which never fails to enrage liberals, which is why you should say it as often as possible.

These strange and powerful phenomena are known as sunspots, but now they are all gone. Not even solar physicists know why it’s happening and what this odd solar silence might be indicating for our future.
