Adult cats, living apart from humans, have very clear communication with one another. It is spoken mostly through scent, then through facial expression, complex body language, and touch.

Meowing is not part of this language. Meow-ese, it would seem, is a language developed exclusively for humans.

The only meowing in the cat world is done between mom cat and her young kittens.

So why do cats have two “languages?” Because meowing is unnecessary in a cat’s world. But in your world, your pet cat is dependent on you, and quickly learns that you are clearly not picking up the scent messages she leaves on your things, and you are not completely fluent in cat body language.

AP: Democratic presidential candidate Dennis Kucinich questioned President Bush’s mental health in light of comments he made about a nuclear Iran precipitating World War III.

“I seriously believe we have to start asking questions about his mental health,” Kucinich, an Ohio congressman, said in an interview with The Philadelphia Inquirer’s editorial board on Tuesday. “There’s something wrong. He does not seem to understand his words have real impact.”[..]

“You cannot be a president of the United States who’s wanton in his expression of violence,” Kucinich said. “There’s a lot of people who need care. He might be one of them. If there isn’t something wrong with him, then there’s something wrong with us. This, to me, is a very serious question.”

PUL-E KHUMRI, Afghanistan (Reuters) - They are known as "bacha bereesh", boys without beards, teenage boys who dress up as girls and dance for male patrons at parties in northern Afghanistan.

It's an age old practice that has led to some of the boy dancers being turned into sex slaves by wealthy and powerful patrons, often former warlords, who dress the boys up as girls, shower them with gifts and keep them as "mistresses".

Afghan police are battling to crackdown on the practice which has angered Islamic clerics who say those involved should be stoned for sodomy, forbidden under Islamic law.

Can you have too much information? Yes, I think so. Who of us hasn't had "information overload" at some point in time, but given the choice, I would rather have too much information, than too little. (There is a big difference between information and infotainment too.)
If only the media would apply the same journalistic *zeal and drive for the truth* to other issues such as wars, poverty and stuff like that as well. Would that be too much to ask?

Hormonal sentience

In theory even an organism with a hormonal system instead of a nervous system could be intelligent in some degree, but it would be an extremely slow brain, to say the least.

Murphy See, Murphy Do

This is my boy, Murphy. :) He's a rescue cat. As you can see, he LOVES to watch funny animal videos. He really gets into it. Notice how, when the dog on TV falls into the pool, Murphy lets himself fall of the couch armrest too. He even knows when the commercials are on. He's the apple of my eye.

will allow Washington to formulate a necessary policy of détente before our nation can be trusted by the world at large.

A new administration without the prior cleansing of the president's office

will be seen as more of the same – an unrepentant and unashamed continuation of empire

But that's not who we are. Or, at least, let's pray we are not.
