clipper's remarks: Lately, I don't agree with CNN's outspoken Lou Dobbs on many issues, but I certainly support his lament two days ago: "The idea that our president, this Congress take time off when we have men and women dying in Iraq, Afghanistan ... there's something at best unseemly about it..

"The toll in a horrific quadruple bombing in an area of mud and stone houses in the remote northern desert on Tuesday evening reached at least 250 dead and 350 wounded, several local officials said Wednesday, making it the deadliest coordinated attack since the American-led invasion of Iraq in 2003."

An article has been written about the macabre, psychotic perspective the people of Iraq and our soldiers are witnessing as the war goes on and on. The whitewashing by the mainstream media makes one believe IT'S NOT SO BAD AS WAR GOES... But as war goes, it is a horrendous nightmare never to be forgotten. I hope Bush and his Neocon cronies will read this report but I know they WILL NOT! Better to delude oneself when a gargantuan mistake such as this war is made. I am sure they, the culprits who created this hellhole must be using all means possible such as, deluding, deceiving and bamboozling themselves (they can no longer do that to us) to save their sanity. Unfortunately our guys on the Iraqi soil and those who were born there have no such means.

US Army Pushes For Amnesty Bill Fast Track So It Can Recruit Illegal Aliens

A senior US defense official today urged the Congress to fast track a section of the stalled immigration bill that would allow the military to recruit illegal aliens, after recruitment figures released by Pentagon showed that the Army failed to reach its targets for May.

The Development, Relief and Education for Alien Minors, or DREAM, provision in the immigration bill was expected to help boost military recruiting by allowing illegal aliens to enlist as way to obtain citizenship, Bill Carr, acting deputy undersecretary of defense for military personnel policy, told a veterans’ group representatives.

you were a minor child and have been in the U.S. school system for a number of years, then you could be eligible to enlist,” he said. “And at the end of that enlistment, then you would be eligible to become a citizen.” Carr said.

clipper's remarks: I listened to this npr radio broadcast of 3 mothers who had lost sons in Iraq. As a mother myself, my empathy for these women and their loss was intense... I read and hear of the numbers dead each day but the impact is minimal, a quick tear and a feeling of helplessness is scarcely the grip I get when something is so redundant. Until you hear from the actual true sufferers of this war, THE MOTHERS, THE FAMILIES, you can't imagine the cost these people actualize. Please listen to their stories of pain. Especially, Elaine Johnson, one brave mother who dared to call Bush on his lack of knowledge and sensitivity about waging this disgusting collide with reality. Be prepared to undergo the painful tears of sorrow and grief in identification to those unfortunates caught up in a game of chess by the neoconservative think-tanker's who have only power and approval to lose. In an online statement, Sheehan says she has come to the "devastating" conclusion that her son did, indeed, die for nothing. Her post-activist plans are to reclaim her health and take care of her surviving children.

But other mothers who have lost children in Iraq are still speaking out against the war. Elaine Johnson's son, Army Spc. Darius Jennings, was one of 17 U.S. troops killed when a helicopter was shot down by Iraqi insurgents Nov. 2, 2004. Soon after, Johnson, a resident of South Carolina, decided to channel the pain of her loss like Cindy Sheehan had, by becoming an outspoken opponent of the war.

You are a Mother who has suffered the ultimate blow of losing your child to an ideological dream of the idle rich to conquer the world. Cindy Sheehan is going

out the way she came in, with a symbolic gesture widely covered by the mainstream media. A Google News search of her name showed more than 500 articles about her announcement yesterday that she was resigning as the “face” of the anti-war movement.

Much less a typical press release and more a zigzagging screed, her letter of resignation, which she sent to Daily Kos, is titled “Good Riddance Attention Whore.”

Sheehan’s anti-war campaign, which was sparked by the April 4, 2004, death of her son Casey in Sadr City, Iraq, has been defined by emotion, which is in full display in her farewell posting: “The most devastating conclusion that I reached this morning was that Casey did indeed die for nothing.”

I have endured a lot of smear and hatred since Casey was killed and especially since I became the so-called "Face" of the American anti-war movement. Especially since I renounced any tie I have remaining with the Democratic Party, I have been further trashed on such "liberal blogs" as the Democratic Underground. Being called an "attention whore" and being told "good riddance" are some of the more milder rebukes.

I have come to some heartbreaking conclusions this Memorial Day Morning. These are not spur of the moment reflections, but things I have been meditating on for about a year now. The conclusions that I have slowly and very reluctantly come to are very heartbreaking to me.

Military Mom Cindy Sheehan Resigns from Anti-War Movement

On the day that memorializes U.S. soldiers who died in service of our country, Cindy Sheehan, one of America's most famous Iraq War military mothers, made the difficult decision to step away from the anti-war movement, and to return home.

Cindy painfully writes at DailyKos:

"Our brave young men and women in Iraq have been abandoned there indefinitely by their cowardly leaders who move them around like pawns on a chessboard of destruction and the people of Iraq have been doomed to death and fates worse than death by people worried more about elections than people...

"I am going to take whatever I have left and go home. I am going to go home and be a mother to my surviving children and try to regain some of what I have lost...

"This is my resignation letter as the 'face' of the American anti-war movement."

YOUNG DEAD

The phenomenon is growing because the war dead are young - as of March 24, more than three-fourths of those killed in Iraq were 30 years old or younger - and comfortable putting personal information online.

"A lot of the younger Soldiers, especially young enlisted Soldiers, have a MySpace page," says Army Sgt. Tom Day, one of the living who has served three tours in Iraq and is currently deployed to Kuwait. MySpace has more than 100 million registered users.

The result has been pictures of war that are "much more personal and much more public," said the History Project's Patrick. "That's a function of technology."

The number of Soldiers who leave behind online profiles could drop after the Pentagon's recent announcement that servicemembers deployed to Iraq and Afghanistan won't be able to access MySpace and other social Web sites from Defense Department computers. But the new rules don't affect commercial or private computers
