FDA ANNOUNCES PLAN TO ELIMINATE VITAMIN COMPANIES

The FDA, emboldened by its transformation into a drug company, has embarked upon an anti-American plan of interfering with business and intentionally eliminating various dietary supplement companies from the market. The FDA announcement came on Friday, June 22, 2007 under the guise of a final rule for dietary supplement good manufacturing practices (CGMPs).

This FDA rule will directly raise the price of dietary supplements for all consumers. The FDA acknowledges this and says “We expect that the majority of these costs will be borne by consumers of dietary supplements, who will likely respond to the increase in prices by reducing consumption.” Thus, the FDA is intentionally seeking to shrink the size of the dietary supplement industry and reduce the influence of safe and effective options to improve the dreadful trend in the health of Americans. The goal is to leave toxic drugs as the primary health option.

Prescription drugs are higher in the U.S. than anywhere else in the world. And now Big Pharma is passing more of that cost to Medicare, by not allowing them to negotiate lower prices for the millions of drug prescriptions they purchase annually. Trillion Dollar Health Scam

Drug companies are billing the U.S. public for AT LEAST $1 trillion.

This is, without any doubt in my mind, one of the biggest scandals in the history of the United States.

This Medicare drug plan fiasco enriches pharmaceutical companies, fleeces taxpayers, and forces millions of older Americans to accept inferior drug coverage -- while doing nothing to address the real reasons prescription drugs cost so much.

The financial impact of this legislation on taxpayers cannot be overstated. Government projections that the drug program will cost $400 billion over the next decade cannot be trusted, as existing Medicare programs cost four times more than was estimated when they were created.

The likely cost is at least $1.5 trillion over 10 years, and much more in following decades as the American population grows older.

I am absolutely SHOCKED that this ever made it to national TV on Sixty Minutes.

clipper's remarks: Dr. Ron Paul (M.D.) has been a champion of our health rights (among many things) for many years. He keeps trying to help force the FDA to do its job--protecting the health of Americans--instead of what it normally does--protecting the profits of Big Pharma, at the expense of American lives. They approve drugs known to cause health problems and try to invalidate and prohibit natural remedies known to benefit health.

The majority of the FDA's budget comes from Big Pharma. Is it any wonder then that the FDA's decisions aren't about health; they're about protecting Big Pharma's cash cows? That's why they're nearly always in bed with them, and not protecting our health.

The FDA Has Blood on its Hands

Congressman Ron Paul (R-Texas) says, “enough is enough,” to the Big Pharma Bullies running the FDA. He has introduced bill H.R. 2117 (the Health Freedom Protection Act) into the House of Representatives, which would effectively stop the FDA from censoring truthful claims about the health benefits of dietary supplements.

He wants to put an end to the federal bureaucrats’ meddling with your right to choose healthy alternatives over harmful and deadly patent drugs, and believes Americans should not be prevented form learning about simple ways to improve their health.

Big Pharma has the FDA firmly in pocket, and censoring vital information—like the fact that eating 20 cherries has the same effect as popping aspirin or a Cox-2 inhibiting drug—is their only way to stay in business! Perhaps bill H.R. 2117 can get enough traction to stick if enough of us stand firmly behind it, pushing at the rear.
