The Raelians are unlike any other religion in the world since they do not believe in God at all. But it's their other beliefs that are more likely to raise hackles among other faiths.

God plays no part in their religion. Instead, they believe we are all the product of cloning experiments in an extraterrestrial lab. But it's their status as sexual libertines that will probably drive rivals up the wall.

The Raelians preach tolerance for other religious beliefs but seem to revel in tweaking the noses of rival religious leaders by promoting science over faith

Rael, the founder of Raelian Movement, said, "I hope everyone in this room, when your child or grandchild is sick, you don't run to a church or temple, you run to a hospital because you prefer science.

The Raelians have been slammed by other religions as perverts, Satanists, pedophiles, racists, and a lot more. Death threats are not uncommon. But if there's any spot where their core philosophy should fit, this could be it.

UFO research is an appreciated and duly recognized science in China

Izvestia reports that China has a record number of UFO scientific and community-based organizations.

Their actions are protected by the National Society of the Extraterrestrial Studies, which was founded 25 years ago. This National Society is financed by the government.

Only professional scientists and engineers are allowed members in the Society. A person also required to have Ph.D. in science and have several published works about UFOs.

DETROIT, Michigan (CNN) -- Ailing Nation of Islam leader Louis Farrakhan delivered Sunday what was billed as his last public address, calling for Christian-Muslim unity ahead of what he predicted will be apocalyptic times.

His two-hour speech in Detroit marked his first public appearance in seven months, and the Nation of Islam said it could be his last.

In it, he railed against the U.S.-led war in Iraq, which he blamed for the sectarian warfare between Sunni and Shiite Muslims there. Islam's founder, the prophet Mohammed, "is grieving," Farrakhan said.

"How dare us try to split up the prophets and make them enemies of each other to justify our being enemies," he said.

"If Jesus and Mohammed were on this stage, they would embrace each other with love. If Moses and the prophets and Abraham the father would be on this podium with all the prophets, they would embrace each other."

One of the world's last surviving cargo cults is celebrating its official 50th anniversary on Tanna island in Vanuatu.

The John Frum Movement worships a mysterious spirit that urged them to reject the teachings of the Church and maintain their traditional customs.

The cult was reinforced during WWII, when US forces landed with huge amounts of cargo - weapons, food and medicine.

Villagers believe the spirit of John Frum sent the US military to their South Pacific home to help them.

Devotees say that an apparition of John Frum first appeared before tribal elders in the 1930s.

He urged them to rebel against the aggressive teachings of Christian missionaries and instead said they should put their faith in their own customs.

Stars and Stripes

World War II and the arrival of American troops on Vanuatu was a turning point for the John Frum Movement.

Villagers believe that their messiah was responsible for sending the generous US military and its cargo to them.

Speaking in local pidgin, the movement's head, Chief Isaac Wan, said that John Frum was a god who would one day return. He's "our God, our Jesus," he said.

Islanders are convinced that John Frum was an American. Every year they parade in home-made US army uniforms beneath the Stars and Stripes.

They hope one day to entice another delivery of cargo.

This 50th anniversary marks the formal establishment of the John Frum Movement.

It also recognises the day when villagers raised the American flag for the first time in this isolated corner of the South Pacific.

Swedes trust Ikea more than the church

Swedes have more faith in their local Ikea store than in the church.

According to a survey by Dagens Industri, eighty per cent of Swedes said they trusted the furniture chain.

And though four-fifths of all Swedes claim to be members of the protestant Swedish Church only 46 per cent of those polled said they trusted the religious group.

People also trust Volvo (69 percent), Ericsson (59), Saab (57) and even pharmaceutical giant Astra Zeneca (47) more than the Church.
