A couple in the US state of Pennyslvania are suing internet company Google for invading their privacy by showing pictures of their home on the 'Street View' website.

A lawyer for Aaron and Christine Boring say Google entered their private driveway to take pictures for the site, which allows users to see street-level views of cities from a map.

A spokesman for Google said anyone can ask for images of their home to be removed, but the couple's lawyers say they are suing for the original invasion of their privacy when the photos were taken.

Women discriminated against worldwide: UN

The United Nations has released a report which has found that women are discriminated against in almost every country around the world.

This is despite the fact that 185 UN member states pledged to outlaw legislation favouring men by 2005.

The report prepared for the UN's human rights commissioner, says women make up 70 per cent of the global poor and own just one per cent of the world's titled land.

NY duck gets 'order of protection' after attack

A pet duck named Circles, shot and wounded by a neighbour with a pellet gun, has received an order of protection to keep it safe, the first duck in New York state's Suffolk County to benefit from such an order.

Circles was in its owner's backyard on Long Island - long known as a habitat for wild waterfowl - when it was shot by a neighbour through the neck, said Michelle Auletta, prosecutor at the Suffolk County District Attorney's Office.

Circles, a white, yellow-billed duck, was treated by a vet and survived, she said.

The neighbour was charged with animal cruelty. At the attacker's arraignment, Circles' owners received an order of protection.

"It's the first case that I know of in this area where a duck got an order of protection," Ms Auletta said.

"And in Suffolk County, Long Island, it is the first case where an animal was included in an order of protection that was not a domestic violence case."
