Some 35% of all teen girls blog, compared with 20% of online boys, and 54% of wired girls post photos online compared with 40% of online boys. Male teens, however, do dominate one area — posting of video content online. Online boys are nearly twice as likely as online girls (19% vs. 10%) to have posted a video online where others could see it.”

For teens, social media is not technology, it’s just life

Tags: social networking, social media, social networks

<clipSource>http://ebiquity.umbc.edu/blogger/2008/01/13/for-teens-social-media-is-not-technology-its-just-life/</clipSource>

4 Ways to Get Banned from the Technorati Top 100

clipped by: sweetsfoods

Clip Source: www.blogstorm.co.uk

The Technorati Top 100 list is probably the most accurate blog ranking system available but most people don’t realise how much hand editing is involved.

The following people are all deserving of a Top 100 ranking based on blog reactions but have been removed from the list because they didn’t get there “naturally”.

Create a popular plugin

Create some blogging software

Design a popular blog theme

Web developer Alex King runs by far the most popular blog in the world. Well, the simple answer is I get a lot of enjoyment and a reasonable amount of professional benefit from the service. You just have to know how ...

As I say, I find a lot of value in the service, both for information (breaking stories) and networking. It wasn't always this way, in fact to begin with I dismissed it. Only after taking a second look and working out the wrinkles did I find its true worth. To save you the hassle, here are my Twitter tips:

Read first

Audition

Just like with a blog, do not launch into connecting with people on Twitter until you have done the preparation work

Do not be upset if someone does not follow you back! Years down the road, we're going to regret it when we try to delve into our boxes of virtual memories and find they're not there.

But social-networking sites may destroy our ability to keep our memories, because our online discourse is neither interoperable nor locally stored. If you get a MySpace message, there's no way to remove it from MySpace and store it on your PC (other than rough copying and pasting, which is pretty tedious if you're a heavy Spacer), or transfer your MySpace friends, data, and accumulated messages to whatever faddish service will be next down the road.
