clipper's remarks: It's a shame (but no surprise) that English speakers in the United States can't arrive at some concurrence on a better way to verbalize " w w w " than by speaking out each letter. I am personally a fan of "tri-dub" or "three dub" or "triple w", or even something more daringly imaginative, like "prefix web". Perhaps I'll just pick one and start using it... and maybe, just maybe, people will come around.

www is an initialism for World Wide Web, most often styled in lowercase because it appears as the first component of domain names. First, this is how a text with linethrough looks like. So, how to make the text black with a red linethrough?

The answer is, you can't have a different color on line-through, it will get the same color as the font. However, this can be accomplished by thinking outside "the box" as the example below shows.

Here is some text with fake linethrough where the text is black and the linethrough is red.

How is this linethrough made?

Make a red picture with the size 1x3px where the red part covers the 1px at the bottom of the image. Then mix it with a dash of CSS:

}

What is a tooltip? This is a tooltip an aiding text that appears just when you roll on with the mouse. The basic idea comes from Eric Meyer's pure css popupsa very clever way to get dynamic effects on an html page without using javascript.

My idea was to add position:relative to the link, in order to allow the span element inside to position absolutely respect the parent link. This code has been tested in Ie5.5, Opera7.11 and Mozilla 1.4 and works fine. Solved ie bug adding some z-index, but with the modifications done this technique will be buggy in Opera7.2 .
