Once in awhile a woman is recognized for the beauty of her spirit, though most often she is acclaimed for her outwardly "beautiful" appearance. Yet, what is beauty? H&M has teamed up with Designers Against Aids (DAA), launching a collection with the help of Rihanna, Chicks on Speed, Good Charlotte, Henrik Vibskov, Jade Jagger, Katharine Hamnett, My Chemical Romance, Rufus Wainwright, Scissor Sisters, the Cardigans, Tiga, Timbaland and Ziggy Marley.

The artists participate free of charge and 25 per cent of the proceeds from the collection will go to HIV/AIDS-prevention projects around the world.

My body, fashioned by some sort of super-intelligent being or force, was made different from every other body on the planet. It is not Gisele’s body. It is not Scarlett’s body. It is similar to but not the same as my sister’s body. It was perfectly made for any action I might wish to take. It can run, walk, lift, dance, hug, kiss, and guide new people into the world. It wasn’t really made to model clothing or fit into certain sizes. That is, I don’t think that the creator considered the aesthetic of clothing when designing the human race. My body’s proportions are its own. It was lovingly made - out of the love of the creator and also the love between every ancestor who contributed to my physical make-up. It is an amazing tool that allows my soul and spirit to navigate through and interact with this physical world. It deserves to be respected, appreciated, maintained and at the very least accepted. Every body is perfect and no body is more perfect than another.

I do believe a general misconception in the fashion and makeup world is that what walks down the runway is indeed intended to be replicated. Pages of young pretty things in liquid cat-eye eyeliner is indeed chic, but perhaps less useful for the grocery store isle.

1. Liquid eyeliner – what started for winter and is still huge for spring. As a big fan myself I’ve tried all different kinds and Lancome is still the best. Though it sounds daunting, this is the one thing you should not leave the house without. Black can be quite harsh for daytime, though striking, so think “Noir” for night, “Brown” for daytime. Remain close to the lash line and for an extra kick, a very subtle cat eye at the end, though not required.

I'm not a nerd, but my laptop would indicate that I am. It's circa 2002 and it is large, tinny and awkward. It is, unfortunately, really practical too- and that said, it will have to do for now...

And, until today, I was unexcited for that prospect... But, today, I stumbled across Schtickers. This thing could be to my computer what Abercrombie and Fitch was to the socially awkward in the late 90's. All dressed up, no one will know that there is a somewhat slow, somewhat awkward, somewhat unloved laptop underneath.

I guess it's really big news for the the fashion savvy of you. I was curious to check them out, see whether I too can wear Manolos (in case i will be able to take the big hit to my bank account) so I went on to see how the famous shoe maker think my footwear should look like....

I'm sorry to say after seeing the photos that it was not me they had in mind. There is still some hope because they have three more pairs they haven't revealed yet but I'm afraid none of them are targeted at me...

I love shoes. I’m not unique in this love. Many women do. Shoes feed a women’s soul. They make us feel good even when our jeans make us feel bad. They reinforce the many facets of our personality. We wear loafers to the playground, mules with denim, stilettos out to dinner, pumps to a meeting. We can splurge on $800 boots or delight in $20 flats.

I normally try to avoid wide generalizations, but many of the women I know love shoes just like many of the men I know love sports. For the most part, this works out well and keeps balance in the universe. For example, Sundays in the fall are known in my house as football days. They are also a great day for me to go shopping. Denver is playing the Jets? Great, I need a pair of Uggs. New England at Miami? Sounds like a good day to find brown to-the-knee boots with a pointy toe and a skinny heel. BC and Notre Dame? Kids, mommy needs a leopard bootie. Get in the car!
