Aloe Vera As Food Preservative

Food preservative

Researchers at the University of Miguel Hernández in Alicante, Spain, have developed a gel based on A. vera that prolongs the conservation of fresh produce, such as fresh fruit and legumes. This gel is tasteless, colourless and odourless. This natural product is a safe and environmentally friendly alternative to synthetic preservatives such as sulfur dioxide. The study showed that grapes at 1°C coated with this gel could be preserved for 35 days against 7 days for untreated grapes. According to the researchers, this gel operates through a combination of mechanics (Serrano et al., 2006), forming a protective layer against the oxygen and moisture of the air and inhibiting, through its various antibiotic and antifungal compounds, the action of micro-organisms that cause foodborne illnesses.

If you've ever lost a web password or software license; needed to troubleshoot a hardware problem on your computer but have no idea what model of motherboard you have or what BIOS you're running; or wanted to take a closer look at what kind of activity your network is open to, there's a catchall application for you, and it's called System Information for Windows.

In fact, I was very surprised at just how much information is available through SIW - for example, it came as a bit of a shock to see that all of my saved Firefox and Internet Explorer passwords were only a click away with SIW - so I decided that today I'd step through and highlight some of the most interesting and useful features of SIW. To get started, click through to the gallery below.

Spy on your computer with System Information for Windows

Granted, the basic user will probably get most use from the Firefox password discovery, Windows license key recovery, and installed programs tools available in the software section of SIW, but IT folks and even a household's system administrator can appreciate the hardware and network tools as well.

Don't forget, some of the reports aren't all that handy if you forget to save them. Luckily, it's easy to export the reports to an HTML, CSV, TXT, or XML file. — Adam Pash

Once you do that for some time(ex; month) you’ll be able to view your daily mood changes on simple dot plot graph, where higher and lower positioned dots refer to better and worse days, respectively. Check out one sample plot below, by looking at it you can quickly figure out that on average January was good.

So, how it works? Everyday you have to allocate a minute or two to review and rate your day. For that you need to login to your account, select an appropriate mood face for the day(great, good, as usual, bad or worst) and add an optional comment(had fun at Tim’s, failed exam, f*ck that, had problems with Boss…etc).

iRateMyDay is cool place which can help you find out how happy are you. It’s a website where you can measure your overall happiness by rating your daily life for certain period of time. Do it for a month, and you’ll know how many days of the month you felt great, terrible, indifferent and so on. Do it for a year and you’ll know whether you’re a happy person or not, and why is it so.

I've blocked them out in this screenshot for privacy, but the most instantly shocking-yet-useful feature of SIW is an auto-reveal of all of your saved Firefox and Internet explorer passwords. (For what it's worth, I didn't see any passwords I'd saved in Opera.) This is obviously a handy option if you need to recover a password (even if you have it saved, you may have no idea what the password is). On the other hand, since SIW can run off a thumb drive, it's a little daunting to imaging that someone could so easily see all of your passwords. You can block SIW from recovering your Firefox saved passwords by setting a master password.
