170 ANIMALS KILLED BY LOUISIANA SHELTER -- PLEASE READ/SIGN PETITION!!!

On Monday, August 4, approximately 170 dogs and cats were euthanized at the Tangipahoa Parish Animal Shelter. Tangipahoa Parish is just northeast of New Orleans; the shelter is located in Hammond, LA. The shelter claims the animals were infected with the Corona virus and that they all had to be euthanized. They hired outside vets to do the euthanasia and paid them, rather than use their own staff. Their own staff, upon hearing the news resigned.

Despite their claim that all animals had to be euthanized to prevent spread of the disease, they allowed 8 dogs to be taken out by a staff member who was trying to save as many as she could. Animals that had just arrived at the shelter and would not have been exposed to symptomatic animals were euthanized as well.

No Beijing Olympics for Me

whose love of cats and dogs are limited to only their own.

Anyone interested in seeing a video re this horror, please go to the internet
and type in "CHINESE FUR FARMS." This video shows the terrible treatment
involved in the skinning of dogs which I believe are called raccoon dogs. Other farms also skin alive cats as well. Their reasoning for skinning them alive defies common sense and certainly compassion. The numbers are estimated in the millions, but for those who are incredulous - how about hundreds of thousands? Does that make it less of a tragedy?

Slippery traffic-stoppers

Two slithery, beautifully patterned African pythons, named Tiny and Naughty, have become a must-see attraction in Durban.

The unusual "car guards" drape themselves around the steering wheel or dashboard of their owner's car while he slips away into the building in the CBD from which he runs his popular traditional healing business. The businessman is known as "3-cent Ohlangene".

His business appears to be doing exceptionally well, considering it is an Audi TT convertible that he parks across the road from his consulting rooms. One thing is guaranteed, this car will not be hijacked.

No amount of incentive would persuade a potential thief to tackle the powerful reptiles, which are capable of crushing their prey to death.

"Tiny and Naughty are harmless because they represent my ancestral spirit, who was a traditional healer. If you do try breaking into my car, you will not live to tell the tale," said 3-cent Ohlangene.

Accused hoarder: 'I love the animals like they’re my children'

A do-not-enter sign is taped to the front door of the property Anita Gilbert rented in Tehachapi after it was raided by Kern County Animal Control in mid-July. Gilbert is facing felony animal cruelty charges.

Trash and feces and animals — living and dead — have been hauled away.

But the concrete floors still exude the stench of filth.

On July 16, Kern County Animal Control officers arrested Anita Gilbert, 59, who was living inside the warehouse with 15 dogs and 37 cats, on charges of felony animal abuse.

They seized her animals.

As workers began excavating 3-foot deep drifts of urine-soaked trash and feces, they uncovered brand new purses with the sales tags still attached, he said.

Inside a little freezer was a purse decorated with pictures of kittens. Inside the purse were zip-lock bags filled with kitten corpses, Farr said.

Immigrant relatives of 9/11 dead gain legal status

NEW YORK (AP) - Fifteen illegal immigrants who lost a spouse or child in the Sept. 11 terrorist attacks were granted temporary legal status Friday, a potential move toward legal residency for people who have lived in limbo since losing their loved ones.

The Department of Homeland Security's decision could clear the way for the survivors to share their personal stories with Congress without fear of deportation - information some legislators had said was necessary before the relatives could be granted a path to staying in the country legally.

``The events of Sept. 11 are a part of our lives and our national history and a part of our story,'' Baker said. ``If they want to become part of the country after living through such a formative experience for the country, then we think that's the right answer.''

A 16th person was not granted relief because he or she did not file tax returns despite holding a job, the agency said.
