Some parents are upset over a doll that they say has a hidden agenda.

The controversy is over the Little Mommy Cuddle and Coo doll manufactured by Mattel. Parents claim the doll is saying a religious message about Islam

Martina Hollermann, of Ramsey, has countless toys for her children that make noise, but yesterday, while shopping at Target, she said couldn’t believe her ears when she heard the doll say, "Islam is the light."

"Everyone was kind of creeped out," she said. "It's not what you would expect out of a sweet little doll."

She didn't buy the doll and many others across the country haven't either, because they claim to hear the same thing.

A representative from Mattel said the doll is not a religious toy and it is not marketed that way. The company released a statement saying, "The power of suggestion has a lot to do with it. Our department did extensive tests. It just coos and says ‘mama.’ We will not be pulling the doll."

Angry Racist Terrorizes Registrar of Voters

A Monroe, Louisiana man is facing a felony terrorizing charge after a racially charged, profane exchange with his Registrar of Voters and police officers who would later arrest him

75-year-old Wade Williams, arrested Wednesday morning, was angry that he hadn't yet received his voter registration card. According to the Ouachita Parish Sheriff's Office, Williams threatened a state official over the phone that he would "empty his shotgun," stating an urgent need to vote to "keep the nigger out of office." On the way to be booked at the Ouachita Correctional Center, Williams reportedly "continued his 'tirade' about niggers and also stated that he had a shotgun, but had hidden it at his residence."

The affidavit also states that Williams was informed over the phone that he would be able to vote simply by showing a form of identification at the polling place.

No specific political candidate was named in the affidavit, available to view at The Smoking Gun.

The U.S. Council for World Freedom was part of an international organization linked to former Nazi collaborators and ultra-right-wing death squads in Central America. The group was dedicated to stamping out communism around the globe.

The council's founder, retired Army Maj. Gen. John Singlaub, said McCain became associated with the organization in the early 1980s as McCain was launching his political career in Arizona. Singlaub said McCain was a supporter but not an active member in the group

Elected to the House in 1982 and at a time when he was on the board of Singlaub's council, McCain was among Republicans on Capitol Hill expressing support for the Contras

Just compare this recording of Palin in Alaska in 2006 to what you heard last night. Ask yourself where the folksiness is. See how many times she says "doggone" in 2006. Or "betcha". Or "Joe Six-Pack". Make up your own mind. In my judgment she is the biggest fraud we have seen in national politics in generations. She makes the Clintons look honest, and Nixon look as if he has nothing to hide.

I’ve listened to the tape

and I’m not sure: she’s was then at least a little bit folksy.

But the idea of her being coached into adding all these down home verbal tics is intriguing: Gidget from Fargo may be a complete invention! If that proves to be true, (and McCain wins) it will prove to be one of the most extraordinary maneuvers in the history of American elections.

We the People of the United States,
actually have two national flags, a military flag and a civil flag for peacetime.
They have several important distinctions and meanings.

Almost all Americans think of the Stars and Stripes "Old Glory" as their only flag.

And IT IS BEAUTIFUL!!

Through usage and custom, horizontal stripes had become adopted for use over military posts, and vertical stripes adopted for use over civilian establishments. The Civil Flag, intended for peacetime usage in custom house civilian settings, had vertical stripes with blue stars on a white field. By the Law of the Flag, this design denoted civil jurisdiction under the Constitution and common law as opposed to military jurisdiction under admiralty/military law.

Although intended just for Customs house usage, the new Civil Flag became adopted by both customhouses and merchants, and others who could afford them, to show their civilian nature and not under military control.

This video was a shocker to my senses since I live in the Inland Empire where the video was filmed and i've seen the foreclosure signs everywhere. I've always wonder how this people could afford this homes and the life style they were carrying. Seeing the american dream thrown in the dumpster is truely sad. And to think that is going to get worse when those adjustable mortages recast in the comming months. Lisa Ling did a fabulous job on this piece as usual, top notch.

Tina Fey reprised her role as Republican vice presidential candidate Sarah Palin during a Saturday Night Live spoof of Thursday's debate.

Rapper and actress Queen Latifah played the role of moderator Gwen Ifill of PBS while cast member Jason Sudeikis spoofed Palin's Democratic opponent Sen. Joe Biden.

This is Fey's third skit parroting Palin's gaffes. SNL opened this season with a spoof of Palin and Sen. Hillary Clinton giving a press conference denouncing sexism in the media.

Several weeks later, Fey mocked Palin's highly ridiculed interview with CBS' Katie Couric.

In the latest episode of Fey's comic crusade against Gov. Palin, Fey spoofed the governor's stance on same-sex marriage, climate change as the "end of days," and being a "maverick."

"But don't think I don't tolerate gay people, because I do, I tolerate them with all my heart," Fey said. "And I know quite a few, too, not personally, but I know of them."

Meatless Loaf

1 cup rice

1 cup peanuts crushed

1 cup cottage cheese

1 egg

1 tablespoon oil

1 teaspoon salt

Combine all the ingredients together. bake in a loaf pan for 30 minutes or until loaf is good and set.

Rumford Five Minute Pastry

2 cups flour

1/2 teaspoon salt

1 teaspoon rumford baking powder

3/4 cup shortening

1 egg yolk

ice water

Sift together the flour, salt and baking powder; then cream the shortening in a bowl as for cake, As soon as it is light and creamy, add the sifted flour, mixing it in with a knife, not touching with the hands. Beat the yolk of egg, and add a little ice water to it just enough to moisten the pastry - probably 2 tablespoons. Use no more than needed to make a firm dough. Roll at once on a floured board, Bake in hot oven 475/o about 10 to 12 minutes.

Over the next couple of years, Polk missed payments on the 101-year-old home that she and her late husband purchased in 1970. In 2007, Fannie Mae assumed the mortgage and later filed for foreclosure.

Deputies had tried to serve Polk's eviction notice more than 30 times before Wednesday's incident, Sommerville said. She never came to the door, but the notes the deputies left would always disappear, so they knew she was inside and ambulatory, he said. Sommerville said Akron is creating programs to help people keep their homes. "But what do you do when there's just so many people out there and the economy is in the shape that it's in?"

He added that many businesses and individuals have offered to help Polk.

Two days after a 90-year-old Ohio woman shot herself as deputies tried to evict her from her foreclosed home, Fannie Mae has decided to forgive the delinquent loan and give her the house outright, CNN reports.

"We're going to forgive whatever outstanding balance she had on the loan and give her the house," said Fannie Mae spokesman Brian. "Given the circumstances, we think it's appropriate."

Addie Polk of Akron is listed in critical condition at Akron General Medical Center. She shot herself at least twice in the upper body Wednesday afternoon as sheriff's deputies came to evict her from the house she has lived in since 1970. CNN has video of a neighbor describing what he saw.

"There's a lot of people like Miss Polk right now. That's the sad thing about it," said Akron City Council President Marco Sommerville. "They might not be as old as her; some could be as old as her. This is just a major problem."
