A number of filling stations in the Edinburgh area reported severe shortages as queues of cars formed and customers reportedly stockpiled fuel by filling up jerry cans before paying.

There were also reports of petrol stations running out of diesel. The shortages come after a Government minister warned he could not gaurantee that "every garage forecourt would have petrol".

In Glasgow, some garages had imposed limits and several had completely runout of unleaded fuel.

Extraordinary story of a woman who, by following her faith, changed the world for the better.

Clip Source: www.christianheroes.com

It was during this time that Florence gained the
nickname 'The Lady of the Lamp' because she was continually checking all
parts of the hospital day and night and at night she needed the lamp.
In 1855 Queen Victoria wrote to Florence to thank her for all that she
	had done.

When Florence was sixteen years old
her life was changed. God spoke to her and told her that she had a task
that He wanted her to do. Whatever anyone would think of such an event,
it was real to Florence. She now knew that her life had a purpose, and
that whatever would happen would be in God's will and timing.

Florence then wanted to serve as a
nurse in a local hospital. Nurses had a very different role at that time
and were no more than cleaners. Even maids and servants looked down on
them. Her father refused to allow Florence to go to the hospital.

In a letter Florence wrote 'We have four miles of beds
	eighteen inches apart'.

In 1907 Florence Nightingale, now blind,
received the Order of Merit award.

Tags: nurse, hospital, healthcare, religion, heroes, biography, education

<clipSource>http://www.christianheroes.com/people/christian_heroes_florence_nightingale.html</clipSource>

Teddy's schedule: so sweet

clipped by: bignosemousie
clipper's remarks: This really seems like such a tender and sweet thing to do for a child. of ancient Rome, even of the ancient world. On that date Julius Caesar
crossed the Rubicon River, committing himself and his followers to
civil war. Few, if any, historians doubt that the event happened. On
the other hand, numerous skeptics claim that the Gospels of Matthew,
Mark, Luke, and John are myth and have no basis in historical fact.
Yet, as historian Paul Merkley pointed out two decades ago in his
article, "The Gospels as Historical Testimony," far less historical
evidence exists for the crossing of the Rubicon than does for the
events depicted in the Gospels:

Merkley observed that those skeptics who either scoff at the historical
reliability of the Gospels or reject them outright as "myth" do so
without much, if any, regard for the nature of history in general and
the contents of Matthew, Mark, Luke, and John in particular.

Tags: gospel, bible, scriptures, catholic, christianity

<clipSource>http://insightscoop.typepad.com/2004/2008/04/are-the-gospels.html</clipSource>

Astronauts from beyond Shuttle wreckage

clipped by: rvnurse2b

Clip Source: www.crosswalk.com

Following are excerpts from NASA's official pre-flight interview for STS-107 that demonstrate how Husband and Anderson felt about their faith:

Rick Husband: Well, I think apart from NASA, the most enjoyable part of my life has been my time with my family. Power naps are not similar to normal sleep, so you will not be groggy after taking one. While you might have “dreams”, power naps are more similar to meditation, where thoughts are allowed to move from the sub-conscious mind to the conscious mind and back again without you concentrating on them.

How to Power Nap Effectively:

- Don`t be shame

- Choose a time of the day

- Choose a quiet, location to power nap.

- Collect your equipment

- Eat right

- Turn off the phone.

- Add darkness to your room

- Find some music to listen

- Wake up on time

napping:

This book reveals the conclusions reached by Dr. Thomas Gold, a professor at Cornell University, in his seminal book "The Deep Hot Biosphere: The Myth of Fossil Fuels" (Copernicus Books, 1998) and accepted by many in the scientific community that oil is not a product of fossils and prehistoric forests but rather the bio-product of a continuing biochemical reaction below the earth's surface that is brought to attainable depths by the centrifugal forces of the earth's rotation.

America's dangerous dissociation of the dollar with precious—and truly scarce—metals such as gold and the devastation that would be inflicted on the U.S. economy if Middle Eastern countries are able to follow through with current plans to make the euro the standard currency for oil instead of U.S. dollars

Tags: oil, gas, geology, money, government, middle easr, war

<clipSource>http://shop.wnd.com/store/item.asp?ITEM_ID=1769</clipSource>

Food Riots Erupt Worldwide

clipped by: JICWyllie
clipper's remarks: The real culprits are the economic ideologies of free trade and interest driven growth which, masquerading as science, drive disastrous policy decisions.

Clip Source: www.alternet.org

Over the last few decades, the United States, the World Bank and the International Monetary Fund have used their leverage to impose devastating policies on developing countries.
