Gina maintains a 3.9 overall GPA and did very well on the first few philosophy class assignments, her grades in the philosophy course dropped significantly after the question of God’s existence and attributes became the focus of class discussion. Gina read the assigned materials and participated in class discussions, presenting traditional philosophical arguments on whether God exists and whether He possesses certain characteristics such as being all-knowing or all-good. However, Gina was unwilling to state that she would reconsider her personal religious beliefs on God’s nature and existence, and her grades suffered as a result.

Gina was posed with the difficult choice of either violating her religious beliefs by publicly declaring, “I am Gina. I am not free because I am determined” or being penalized by failing to receive extra points like her classmates.

Gina chose to adhere to her faith because she could not, in good conscience, make that statement.

Gina D.’s stated unwillingness to reconsider or abandon her personal beliefs in favor of her Introduction to Philosophy Professor’s preferred viewpoints has led to her receiving poor grades on class assignments. She has also been singled out and derided in online discussions.

While a college professor may encourage students to be informed about viewpoints and arguments that differ from their own, it is inappropriate — and unconstitutional — for a public college professor to make passing a required course (and thus graduation) contingent upon a student’s willingness to express agreement with philosophical viewpoints conflicting with her religious beliefs.

Useful Networks, the American company behind Sniff, promised that only consumers who gave their permission could be electronically tracked by the service, which operates across all mobile carriers. Users can specify who can and can not sniff them, or whether they are open to be sniffed by anyone on the network. The company plans to charge users about 75p for each location “sniff”, with the results for mobile customers sent by return text. It will be the first Facebook application to apply premium charges to customers’ mobile bills. The heaviest users in Sweden are wireless-connected members of the social networking site, who have integrated the application into their personal profile page.

“Sniffing” works through similar technology used by the police to track down suspected terrorists or missing children via their mobile phones.

Useful Networks, owned by the American giant Liberty Media, hopes to introduce “sniffing” in Britain this month.

The leader of the Italian Democratic Party, Walter Veltroni, today proposed the creation of an 'Organization of Religions Nations' Rome-based, and said that the idea' liked 'by both the secretary of the UN, Ban Ki-moon, as Pope Benedict XVI.

Veltroni explained that his idea is the creation of a 'palace of religions' in Rome, like the United Nations in New York, where representatives of all faiths of the world can' meet and talk among themselves.

'Silent' famine sweeps globe

British say invisible tank could be operational by 2012

The British military has unveiled a prototype-cloaking device that uses cameras and projectors to beam images of the surrounding landscape onto a tank -- resulting in a virtually invisible tank. In secret trials the Army said it has made a vehicle completely disappear and predicted that an invisible tank would be ready for service by 2012. Lt. Col. Bob Maginnis (USA-Ret.) says it is an interesting concept.

According to Maginnis, there are times when it is desirable to be visible. "If part of the effect is the shock and the awe of seeing tanks charging at you at 50 miles an hour, firing weapons and suppressing the enemy, sometimes that's something you want and you don't want it to be invisible. So it's really a mixed bag," says the former combat officer.

Islamic terrorists, Mexican drug cartels team up in plot against Ft. Huachuca

A top executive with the Minutemen Civil Defense Corps is very concerned about a recent report that terrorists being smuggled across the Mexican border were planning a massive terrorist attack on an extremely important military installation in Arizona.

According to The Washington Times, the nation's largest intelligence training center -- Fort Huachuca -- changed its security measures this past May after being warned of a planned terrorist attack involving Islamic extremists and Mexican drug cartels. The Times reports that as many as 60 Afghan and Iraqi terrorists paid Mexican drug lords $20,000 or the equivalent in weapons for assistance in illegally entering the U.S. An FBI advisor revealed that a number of the terrorists are hiding in a safe house in Texas.

Publishing house, ministries join forces to get weatherproof Bibles to troops

The Outdoor Bible, a waterproof, tear-resistant, and durable copy of God's Holy Word. The publishing company has kicked off a project called "Light of the World 2007," which allows people to send copies of Bibles to troops overseas. The Bibles can be purchased on a special website; and through a partnership with the North American Mission Board and Campus Crusade for Christ, they are then delivered to troops.
