In following Jesus’ command to love God with “all our mind,” the Christian life is supposed to include regular times of study and learning. The goal of such study is to have what Paul called “the mind of Christ” so that we can live the life of Christ by the power of the Spirit of Christ. Therefore, this month we will examine the contemplative spiritual discipline of study and the correlating active spiritual discipline of obedience.

Hear God’s Word (Luke 11:28; Romans 10:17), which means that listening to sermons, lectures, and audio Bibles is very beneficial.
Read God’s Word (e.g., Revelation 1:3) as Jesus often did.
Study God’s Word (e.g., Ezra 7:10; Acts 17:11) as Jesus often did, which caused people to be amazed at His insights (Matthew 7:28–29).
Memorize God’s Word (Psalm 119:11; Proverbs 22:17–19) as Jesus did, which enabled Him to freely quote Scripture as needed (e.g., Matthew 4:1–11).

The massive central door in the side of Noah's Ark was thrown open Saturday for the first crowd of curious Pilgrims and townsfolk to behold the wonder.

Of course, it's only a replica of the biblical Ark , built by Dutch Creationist Johan Huibers as a testament to his faith in the literal truth of the Bible.

The ark is 150 cubits long, 30 cubits high and 20 cubits wide. That's two-thirds the length of a football field and as high as a three-story house.

Life-size models of giraffes, elephants, lions, crocodiles, zebras, bison and other animals greet visitors as they arrive in the main hold.

There is enough space near the keel for a 50-seat film theater where kids can watch a video that tells the story of Noah and his ark.

the implementation of domestic laws to combat defamation of religion in many OIC countries reveals a selective and arbitrary enforcement toward religious minorities, who are often Christians. Those violations are frequently punishable by the death penalty.

Associated with "anti-blasphemy laws", the OIC uses the concepts of "defamation of religions" as both sword and shield. In Islamic countries, blasphemy laws are used as a shield to protect the dominant religion, but even more dangerously, they are used to silence minority religious believers and prevent Muslims from converting to other faiths, which is still a capital crime in many Islamic countries.

Emphasizing that a proper respect for religions is necessary, the ECLJ insisted on the urgent need to stop the arbitrary enforcement of the law and to draw a clear line between valid criticism of religions or religious practices and speech that does not serve any purpose except to offend the beliefs of individuals or religions.

It was during this time that Florence gained the nickname 'The Lady of the Lamp' because she was continually checking all parts of the hospital day and night and at night she needed the lamp. In 1855 Queen Victoria wrote to Florence to thank her for all that she had done.

When Florence was sixteen years old her life was changed. God spoke to her and told her that she had a task that He wanted her to do. Whatever anyone would think of such an event, it was real to Florence. She now knew that her life had a purpose, and that whatever would happen would be in God's will and timing.

Florence then wanted to serve as a nurse in a local hospital. Nurses had a very different role at that time and were no more than cleaners. Even maids and servants looked down on them. Her father refused to allow Florence to go to the hospital.

In a letter Florence wrote 'We have four miles of beds eighteen inches apart'.

In 1907 Florence Nightingale, now blind, received the Order of Merit award.

Gina maintains a 3.9 overall GPA and did very well on the first few philosophy class assignments, her grades in the philosophy course dropped significantly after the question of God’s existence and attributes became the focus of class discussion. Gina read the assigned materials and participated in class discussions, presenting traditional philosophical arguments on whether God exists and whether He possesses certain characteristics such as being all-knowing or all-good. However, Gina was unwilling to state that she would reconsider her personal religious beliefs on God’s nature and existence, and her grades suffered as a result.

Gina was posed with the difficult choice of either violating her religious beliefs by publicly declaring, “I am Gina. I am not free because I am determined” or being penalized by failing to receive extra points like her classmates.

Gina chose to adhere to her faith because she could not, in good conscience, make that statement.

His academic prowess and his family's income made him a perfect selection for Washington's Promise Scholarship, which goes annually to more than 6,000 of the state's brightest students who come from modest means. Johnson warns that there is concern over a "growing encroachment [on] church autonomy, where the government is trying to meddle in the affairs of faith communities and organized religions."

Publishing house, ministries join forces to get weatherproof Bibles to troops

The Outdoor Bible, a waterproof, tear-resistant, and durable copy of God's Holy Word. The publishing company has kicked off a project called "Light of the World 2007," which allows people to send copies of Bibles to troops overseas. The Bibles can be purchased on a special website; and through a partnership with the North American Mission Board and Campus Crusade for Christ, they are then delivered to troops.

His comment was, I love it best because it fits right in my cargo pocket. I can carry it with me anywhere I go, and when I have five or ten minutes in between duties, I've got the Word of God with me that I can pull out and be encouraged by it, and involve my mind in reading," says Bardin.

Court rules majority student vote on funding can be biased

By ruling in favor of two students on the State University of New York Albany campus who filed suit, a federal appeals court has agreed that allocating mandatory funds from college student fees by referendum, or majority rule, treats some student groups unfairly.

Attorneys for Alliance Defense Fund, which served as counsel for Amidon and Barlow, say the decision also affirmed that the referendum process effectively excluded conservative, Christian, and other minority student groups from receiving funds other groups receive because it boils down to a "popularity contest."
