Maybe you're seeking to learn something, which means you're probably going to keep trying until you find it. Or give up in frustration. Don't give up that easily. There's information out there that is actually not indexed in the big search engines. Such Web pages are part of what's called the Dark, Deep, Hidden or Invisible Web. Those pages that are actually indexed are known by some as the surface Web. Fortunately, the invisible Web is getting easier to search, with tools beyond the standard big three search engines such as Google, Yahoo, and MSN.

Background of the Invisible Web

9 Reasons a Web Page is Invisible

10 Ways to Make Invisible Content Visible

How to Access and Search for Invisible Content

15 Invisible Web Search Tools

Deep Web Search Engine — Clusty.

The U.S. government screams its head off in denunciation of genocide, in this case. In the Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC), as many as five million have died since 1994 in overlapping convulsions of ethnic and state-sponsored massacre. Not a word of reproach from Washington. A human death toll that approaches the Nazi's annihilation of Jews in World War Two - an ongoing holocaust - unfolds without a whiff of complaint from the superpower.

Why is

Congo unworthy of mention? The answer is simple: in Sudan, the U.S. has a geopolitical nemesis to confront: Arabs, and their Chinese business partners. In the Congo, it is U.S allies and European and American corporate interests that benefit from the slaughter.

Tags: congo, genocide, africa, news

<clipSource>http://munaeem.blog-city.com/a_tale_of_two_genocides.htm</clipSource>

Awesome research/ Homework resource

clipped by: cosmic_kitten1
clipper's remarks: I only found this the other day and mostly I'm clipping it for my own uses; however, it's a great resource and I thought I'd share. Now more than ever, it seems so necessary. This is another "I dare you" clip. Are they trying to scare, intimidate or threaten people to the point, that they just don't dare comment or clip or pop or blog or speak out anymore? Should I just cave in and "turn myself in" quarterly and bow down to oppression? I think not. I will not be silenced. If I ever stop clipping about all this, you'll know why. See ya in Guantanamo!

- The White House's own recently de-classified strategy for "winning the war on terror" targets Internet conspiracy theories as a recruiting ground for terrorists and threatens to "diminish" their influence.

- Chertoff pledged to dispatch Homeland Security agents to local police departments in order to aid in the apprehension of domestic terrorists who use the Internet as a political tool.

Clip Source: infowars.net

Bloggers

on free speech in Communist China. But it isn't. The U.S. Government
                 wants
to force bloggers and online grassroots activists
to register and regularly report their activities to Congress
in the latest astounding attack on the internet and the First
                Amendment.

before the Senate, would require grassroots causes, even bloggers,
who communicate to 500 or more members of the public on policy
matters, to register and report quarterly to Congress the same
as the big K Street lobbyists. Section 220 would amend existing
lobbying reporting law by creating the most expansive intrusion
on First Amendment rights ever. For the first time in history,
critics of Congress will need to register and report with Congress

That is, unless you live in California, New York or six other northeast states that follow California's tougher pollution rules. Only there can you buy this Accord, or the roughly two dozen other models that meet so-called Partial Zero Emissions Vehicle standards, PZEV for short.

Not only can't you buy one, but the government says it's currently illegal for automakers to sell these green cars outside of the special states. Under terms of the Clean Air Act—in the kind of delicious irony only our government can pull off—anyone (dealer, consumer, automaker) involved in an out-of-bounds PZEV sale could be subject to civil fines of up to $27,500. Volvo sent its dealers a memo alerting them to this fact, noting that its greenest S40 and V50 models were only for the special states.

Tags: environment, government

<clipSource>http://autos.msn.com/advice/article.aspx?contentid=4024974&GT1=10365</clipSource>

The Internet Black Hole That Is North Korea

clipped by: haraya
clipper's remarks: No clipmarks for them?

Clip Source: www.nytimes.com

the stark realities of life in North Korea were perhaps most evident in a simple satellite image over the shoulder of Defense Secretary Donald H. Rumsfeld during an Oct. 11 briefing. The image showed the two Koreas — North and South — photographed at night.

The South was illuminated from coast to coast, suggesting that not just lights, but that other, arguably more bedrock utility of the modern age — information — was pulsating through the population.

The North was black.

This is an impoverished country where televisions and radios are hard-wired to receive only government-controlled frequencies. Cellphones were banned outright in 2004. In May, the Committee to Protect Journalists in New York ranked North Korea No. 1 — over also-rans like Burma, Syria and Uzbekistan — on its list of the “10 Most Censored Countries.”

That would seem to leave the question of Internet access in North Korea moot.

At a time when much of the world takes for granted a fat and growing network of digitized human knowledge, art, history, thought and debate, it is easy to forget just how much is being denied the people who live under the veil of darkness revealed in that satellite photograph.

While other restrictive regimes have sought to find ways to limit the Internet — through filters and blocks and threats — North Korea has chosen to stay wholly off the grid.

Julien Pain, head of the Internet desk at Reporters Without Borders, a Paris-based group which tracks censorship around the world, put it more bluntly. “It is by far the worst Internet black hole,” he said.

Tags: internet, The U.S. citizens are losing. From the Patriot Act to mother's having to drink their own breast milk in order to board planes, the so-called "War" has been a miserable defeat to the citizens of the United States.

We are living in a reactionary period and the U.S. government has invoked and provoked more fear into the hearts of their citizens more so than any act of terror from foreign hostiles have. Humans have this wonderful capacity to forgive and forget but since that seems to be apathetic to the plight of those who have lost loved ones due to foreign enemies let's try a rephrase: Time is a magic pill.

Running from looks exactly the same as running toward but in the difference, there is a world. "I don't know where I'm going but I need to get away." versus "I am running toward something I want." Fear versus Freedom. The government is counting on your fear-based beliefs to not know the difference.

Tags: politics, bush, america, usa, privacy, liberties, newsvine

<clipSource>http://digits.newsvine.com/_news/2006/08/01/307998-the-us-is-its-own-terrorist</clipSource>

Learn from the fall of Rome, US warned

clipped by: sam.reckoner

Clip Source: www.ft.com

Learn from the fall of Rome, US warned

The US government is on a ‘burning platform’ of unsustainable policies and practices with fiscal deficits, chronic healthcare underfunding, immigration and overseas military commitments threatening a crisis if action is not taken soon, the country’s top government inspector has warned.

Drawing parallels with the end of the Roman empire, Mr Walker warned there were “striking similarities” between America’s current situation and the factors that brought down Rome, including “declining moral values and political civility at home, an over-confident and over-extended military in foreign lands and fiscal irresponsibility by the central government”.

“They need to make fiscal responsibility and inter-generational equity one of their top priorities. Nobody has suggested the cybrids be raised and let loose in London (or Manhattan, for that matter, where the movie will likely be set. A while back there was a report that someone in Pakistan had published in a
newspaper that offered a reward to anyone who killed an American, any American!

So an Australian dentist wrote the following to let everyone know what an American is,
so they would know when they found one:

An American is English, or French, or Italian, Irish, German, Spanish, Polish, Russian or Greek.

An American may also be Canadian, Mexican, African, Indian, Chinese, Japanese, Korean, Australian, Iranian, Asian, or Arab, or Pakistani, or Afghan.

An American is Christian, or he could be Jewish, or Buddhist, or Muslim. In fact,
there are more Muslims in America than in Afghanistan. The only difference is that
in America they are free to worship as each of them chooses.

An American is also free to believe in no religion. For that he will answer only to
God, not to the government, or to armed thugs claiming to speak for the government and for God.

An American is generous.

<clipSource>http://www.opey.com/american.html</clipSource>

The Web's Perspective Diversity Paradox

clipped by: wildcat
clipper's remarks: Paradoxically, even as the daunting array of information sources grows, we seek comfort by consuming narrow views that support our own interests and biases.

Clip Source: www.technewsworld.com

The Internet has brought an unprecedented amount of diversity to the news and viewpoints readily available to the everyday reader. Sitting at your desk, you can immediately read the same story reported by Fox News, Al Jazeera, or any point of view in between. The paradox is that despite this diversity, many readers remain tightly focused on news sources that merely echo their own world views, writes Timothy J. Dave had over $1000 dollars in his back pocket (in his wallet). New twenties were the lion share of the bills in his wallet. We walked into a truck stop/travel plaza and they have those new electronic monitors that are supposed to say if you are stealing something. But through every monitor, Dave set it off. He did not have anything to purchase in his hands or pockets. After numerous times of setting off these monitors, a person approached Dave with a 'wand' to swipe why he was setting off the monitors.

We could have left it at that, but we have also paid attention to the European Union and the 'rfid' tracking devices placed in their money, and the blatant bragging of Walmart and many corporations of using 'rfid' electronics on every marketable item by the year 2005.

Dave and I have brainstormed the fact that most items can be 'microwaved' to fry the 'rfid' chip, thus elimination of tracking by our government.

So we chose to 'microwave' our cash, over $1000 in twenties in a stack, not spread out on a carasoul.
