These young girls know how to have babies, so further sex ed isn’t needed. They want to have babies, so contraception is beside the point. The problem is that they think that they are ready to have babies, and they aren’t.

Clip Source: article.nationalreview.com

Officials had reason to be frustrated. Gloucester high had a school-based health clinic; they had contracted with the local Title X family planning clinic to provide comprehensive sex-ed classes; they even offered an elaborate program of free day care in a converted classroom to help mothers stay in school. They did everything by the book, and the spike in pregnancies occurred anyway.
Top Ten Reasons to Make Gay Marriage Illegal

01) Being gay is not natural. Real Americans always reject unnatural things like eyeglasses, polyester, and air conditioning.

02) Gay marriage will encourage people to be gay, in the same way that hanging around tall people will make you tall.

03) Legalizing gay marriage will open the door to all kinds of crazy behavior. People may even wish to marry their pets because a dog has legal standing and can sign a marriage contract.

04) Straight marriage has been around a long time and hasn’t changed at all like many of the principles on which this great country was founded; women are still property, blacks still can’t marry whites, and divorce is still illegal.

05) Straight marriage will be less meaningful if gay marriage were allowed; the sanctity of marriages like Britney Spears’ 55-hour just-for-fun marriage would be destroyed.

06) Straight marriages are valid because they produce children. Gay couples, infertile couples, and old people shouldn’t be allowed to marry because our orphanages aren’t full yet, and the world needs more children.

07) Obviously gay parents will raise gay children, since straight parents only raise straight children.

08) Gay marriage is not supported by religion. In a theocracy like ours, the values of one religion are imposed on the entire country. That’s why we have only one religion in America.

09) Children can never succeed without a male and a female role model at home. That’s why we as a society expressly forbid single parents to raise children.

10) Gay marriage will change the foundation of society; we could never adapt to new social norms. Just like we haven’t adapted to cars, the service-sector economy, or longer life spans. .

Tags: politics, idiots, gay marriage

<clipSource>http://stopgeek.com/top-10-reasons-gay-marriage-should-be-illegal.html</clipSource>

Things Americans don't like to talk about

clipped by: ratilfar
clipper's remarks: Read the whole article, it is illuminating to say the least. I thought this passage said it best:

"

If you listen to a lot of conservatives, they'll tell you that the difference between them and us is that conservatives love America and liberals hate America.... They don't get it. We love America just as much as they do. But in a different Way. You see, they love America the way a 4-year-old loves her Mommy. Liberals love America like grown-ups.

To a 4-year-old, everything Mommy does is wonderful and anyone who criticizes Mommy is bad. Grown-up love means actually understanding what you love, taking the good with the bad, and helping your loved one grow. Love takes attention and work and is the best thing in the world."

Clip Source: dneiwert.blogspot.com

One of the oddities of the emerging media meta-narrative about Jeremiah Wright is the way it is now readily assumed by the broad range of talking heads that Wright's recent comments have only proven the charge that he is deeply "anti-American," embodied in the endlessly repeated "God damn America" sound bite.

But it's also apparent that the larger context in which Wright condemns American behavior -- the reason he shouts "God damn America" -- in fact reflects hard historical realities that Americans, and the American media especially, really don't want to talk about, let alone confront the present-day consequences thereof.

And doing so, evidently, is now proof of being "anti-American."

-- The genocide committed against Native Americans.
-- Slavery.
-- The "lynching era" and Jim Crow.
-- Sundown towns.
-- The forced incarceration of 120,000 Japanese Americans during World War II.

Tags: history, truth, wright, religion, obama, politics, america

<clipSource>http://dneiwert.blogspot.com/</clipSource>

What do teachers make?

clipped by: arifsali
clipper's remarks: I make them apologize and mean it. The dinner guests were sitting around the table discussing life. One

man, a CEO, decided to explain the problem with education.

He argued, 'What's a kid going to learn from someone who decided
his/her best option in life was to become a teacher?' He reminded the
other dinner guests what they say about teachers: 'Those who can, do..

Those who can't, teach.'

To stress his point he said to another guest; 'You're a teacher,

Be honest. What do you make?' Bonnie, who had a reputation for
honesty and frankness replied, 'You want to know what I make? (She

of ancient Rome, even of the ancient world. On that date Julius Caesar
crossed the Rubicon River, committing himself and his followers to
civil war. Few, if any, historians doubt that the event happened. On
the other hand, numerous skeptics claim that the Gospels of Matthew,
Mark, Luke, and John are myth and have no basis in historical fact.
Yet, as historian Paul Merkley pointed out two decades ago in his
article, "The Gospels as Historical Testimony," far less historical
evidence exists for the crossing of the Rubicon than does for the
events depicted in the Gospels:

Merkley observed that those skeptics who either scoff at the historical
reliability of the Gospels or reject them outright as "myth" do so

There are 25,000 amputees among the country's 63,000 victims of landmines and blasts from unexploded ordinance left after 30 years of civil war.

Up to 1m landmines remain buried, out of the estimated million mines planted along the border with Thailand after the invading Vietnamese left in 1989

Clip Source: www.guardian.co.uk

Miss Landmine: exploitation or bold publicity for the victims?

Norwegian theatre director defends what aid agencies dismissed as a freak show

In the realm of beauty pageants it is not the stuff of little girls' dreams.

More than half of the 800 young people said they knew someone who had self-harmed - either through cutting, burning or punching themselves.

The main reason given was feeling depressed, with the results among boys being slightly lower at 22%.

Marjorie Wallace, chief executive of the mental health charity Sane, said

"Evidence from our own helpline suggests there is a growing epidemic of self-harm amongst our young, who are using ever more extreme ways to find release from their mental turmoil.

"It is an addictive and desperate way of dealing with the stresses of growing up.

"It is essential that the rising number of young people who self-harm are helped to stop before it develops into what may become a life-long illness."

Think it takes thousands or even millions of years for animals to evolve significantly new traits? Think again. New research lends just a touch of credibility to the idea behind the popular sci-fi TV series Heroes, which portrays certain humans as having quickly evolved new astounding traits in response to increasingly tumultuous environmental pressures.

In 1971 biologists moved 5 adult pairs of Italian wall lizards from
their island home of Pod Kopiste, in the South Adriatic Sea, and
introduced them to the neighboring island of Pod Mrcaru. Now, an
international team of researchers has discovered that introducing these
small, green-backed lizards, Podarcis sicula, to a new environment
caused them to undergo shockingly fast and large-scale evolutionary
changes.

The lizards evolved entirely new digestive system features to cope with
dietary changes, evolved bigger heads and also ceased to defend
territories—an instinct once very integral to the species behavior back
on their original home

Tags: evolution, biology

<clipSource>http://www.dailygalaxy.com/my_weblog/2008/04/scientists-disc.html</clipSource>

Fla. Until Sept. 6, 2007, the Syrian regime was building a covert nuclear reactor in its eastern desert capable of producing plutonium. We are convinced, based on a variety of information, that North Korea assisted Syria's covert nuclear activities. We have good reason to believe that reactor, which was damaged beyond repair on Sept. 6 of last year, was not intended for peaceful purposes. Carefully hidden from view, the reactor was not configured for such purposes. In defiance of its international obligations, Syria did not inform the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) of the construction of the reactor, and, after it was destroyed, the regime moved quickly to bury evidence of its existence. This cover-up only served to reinforce our confidence that this reactor was not intended for peaceful activities.

<clipSource>http://www.cfr.org/publication/16102/statement_by_the_white_house_press_secretary_on_syria_and_north_korea.html</clipSource>

Environmental Activism From Nancy Pelosi's Scripture

clipped by: merrie
clipper's remarks: Claude Mariottini, a professor of Old Testament at Northern Baptist Theological Seminary, told Cybercast News Service the passage not only doesn't exist - it's "fictional."

Other scholars agree that nothing remotely resembling it can be found in any version of the Scriptures - Old Testament or New Testament.

"Responsible use of the Old Testament cannot divorce the biblical notion of stewardship (that man is obligated to care for God's creation) from the equally important biblical view that the entire natural world was created for man, for him to subdue it and to reign over it," Jenislawski said.

"Environmentalists who make man subservient to the natural world actually invert the biblical view of man's relationship to the earth," he said.

"People try to use the Bible to give authority to what they are trying to say," he said. (CNSNews.com) - House Speaker Nancy Pelosi (D-Calif.) is fond of quoting a particular passage of Scripture. regards the telephone as one of its most successful tools. Consumers
experience telemarketing from a completely different point of
view: more than 92% perceive commercial telephone calls as a
  violation of privacy.
Telemarketers make use of a telescript - a guideline for a telephone
conversation. This script creates an imbalance in the conversation
between the marketer and the consumer. It is this imbalance,
most of all, that makes telemarketing successful. The EGBG Counterscript
  attempts to redress that balance.

Tags: optional. separate by commas.

<clipSource>http://www.xs4all.nl/~egbg/counterscript.html</clipSource>

Earth is upside down

clipped by: willhelm
clipper's remarks: • “Man must stop pollution and conserve his resources, not merely to enhance existence but to save the race from the intolerable deteriorations and possible extinction,” The New York Times editorial, April 20, 1970.

• “By 1985, air pollution will have reduced the amount of sunlight reaching earth by one half...” Life magazine, January 1970.

• “Population will inevitably and completely outstrip whatever small increases in food supplies we make,” Paul Ehrlich, interview in Mademoiselle magazine, April 1970.

• “...air pollution...is certainly going to take hundreds of thousands of lives in the next few years alone,” Paul Ehrlich, interview in Mademoiselle magazine, April 1970.

• Ehrlich also predicted that in 1973, 200,000 Americans would die from air pollution, and that by 1980 the life expectancy of Americans would be 42 years.

• “It is already too late to avoid mass starvation,” Earth Day organizer Denis Hayes, The Living Wilderness, Spring 1970.

Clip Source: www.washingtonpolicy.org

• “...civilization will end within 15 or 30 years unless immediate action is taken against problems facing mankind,” biologist George Wald, Harvard University, April 19, 1970.

• By 1995, “...somewhere between 75 and 85 percent of all the species of living animals will be extinct.” Sen. The editorial staff of the UK's Bookseller magazine want you to know that lining your exterior walls with books is practically a moral imperative, since it reduces your energy costs and saves the world. You don't have to tell me -- I've been lining my walls with books for decades.

"Books are the original insulator.
