שנות ה-30 היו שנות השיא של האגודות השיתופיות בישראל, אך בסוף שנות ה-60 הן גוועו. במרכז ליזמות שיתופית לא נבהלים מהקפיטליזם ומהאינדיבידואליזם ומתמקדים בהחייאת המודל העסקי הזה, שזוכה לפריחה גם בעולם. עם חזון שלפיו עלינו להתפרנס בכבוד-במקום לשאוף לרווחים מהירים - אנשי המרכז מסייעים למי שרוצה להקים עסק עצמאי אך אינו יכול לעשות זאת לבד. מאבטחים, אמנים, מנופאים ותופרות מגלים שיחד יש להם יותר כוח

אגודה שיתופית היא "התאגדות חופשית ורצונית של כמה אנשים שיש להם כוונה, רצון ומטרה לייצר יחדיו כדי להגשים מטרות ושאיפות כלכליות, חברתיות ותרבותיות באמצעות מיזם עסקי שהוא בבעלותם המשותפת ובשליטתם הדמוקרטית", כך מסביר מיכה ברנר, יו"ר המרכז ליזמות שיתופית בישראל.

כשמיכה ברנר מונה ליו"ר המרכז ליזמות שיתופית בישראל לפני כשנתיים, הוא החל לבדוק מה קורה בעולם. "נחשפתי לנתונים מפתיעים וגיליתי שבניגוד לארץ, המודל השיתופי גדל, פורח ומשגשג במגוון רחב של תחומים ובהם חקלאות, בנקאות, תעשיה, שיכון, ביטוח וספורט.

קואופרטיב

הקואופרטיב הוא גוף הפועל ומנוהל על ידי חבריו ולמען חבריו. לקואופרטיב בדרך כלל יש תחום פעילות מסויים. המשאבים הדרושים להקמת והפעלת הקואופרטיב (ההון הכספי, וכן לפעמים גם עבודה, כישורים וקשרים) מגוייסים מקרב החברים. אין בעלי אחזקות בקואופרטיב שאינם חברים בו וכל החברים פעילים בקואופרטיב. הקואופרטיב הוא התאגדות התנדבותית שהמצטרפים אליה מתחייבים לכבד את כלליה, להשקיע את ההשקעה המינמילית הדרושה בהון הקואופרטיב ולקחת חלק פעיל בפעילות ובניהול הקואופרטיב.

לרוב מנוהל הקואופרטיב בידי גוף נבחר של חבריו. אך במידה והקואופרטיב גדול מאוד או דורש מקצועיות מיוחדת לניהולו, ממנים החברים מנהלים מקצועיים בשכר, אשר אינם חברים. המנהלים הללו מפוקחים באופן ישיר על ידי החברים או באמצעות גוף נבחר מצומצם.

To encourage investment in wind power, families were offered a tax exemption for generating their own electricity within their own or an adjoining commune.^[13] While this could involve purchasing a turbine outright, more often families purchased shares in wind turbine cooperatives which in turn invested in community wind turbines. By 1996 there were around 2,100 such cooperatives in the country.^[13] Opinion polls show that this direct involvement has helped the popularity of wind turbines, with some 86% of Danes supporting wind energy when compared with existing fuel sources.^[4]

One-state solution

The one-state solution, also known as the binational solution, is a proposed resolution of the Israeli-Palestinian conflict. Though hotly debated in academic circles, it has been eclipsed in popularity by the two-state solution, most recently agreed on in principle by the government of Israel and the Palestinian Authority at the November 2007 Annapolis Conference.
