Do you find yourself often browsing websites while you should be doing work?

Are you afraid that one of these days your boss is going to catch you?

If so this extension is for you. It is called the Panic extension because it will save your butt just in case the boss sneaks up on you. In just a click this extension will close all your open tabs and replace it with a new page that you chose. The default settings will take you to a Google search of "Increasing Workplace Productivity". So if you are worried about getting in trouble, this extension will save your butt.

When someone does something appalling (and gets caught), people try to distance themselves from that person. They act as though they are a different animal completely, because they can’t bear the fact that they too are an unstable, emotion-driven creature that could also do something horrible.

1) Deterrence – The threat of punishment discourages people from engaging in illegal acts.

2) Protection – If somebody is behind bars they are physically prevented from hurting people outside the bars.

3) Rehabilitation – The experience of incarceration can convince a convict to refrain from harming society upon his release.

Standard doctrine in democratic countries is that imprisonment serves society in three ways:

Use the correct DocType Definition (DTD)

Please , please, please note that for most of my demonstrations to work, especially in Internet Explorer, you MUST use a standards compliant !DOCTYPE, and for Internet Explorer this MUST be the first line of your (x)html.

Solution for this annoying error while using a LinqDataSource

No applicable method 'Contains' exists in type 'String'

ConvertEmptyStringToNull="false"

Turns out that it is trying to run Contains on a NULL - and where does that NULL come from? A tricky little property in your ControlParameter that defaults to true, and you have to manually change it to false:

Where="title.Contains(@title)"

And that should cause your Contains to work now, because every string Contains a String.Empty.

Linq Exception - Update without primary key

Linq to sql error with identitiy increment field

I've just started to use linq to sql and have run into a problem with inserting a record with an auto incrementing field.

I have created a new instance of a company object defined by linq. it has initialised an auto incrementing field 'companyID' to 0. InsertOnSubmit() fails with the following invalidOperationException.

Found the answer. It was to do with primary keys. In the linq designer the primary keys were setup as they should be. In the database the relevant fields were not set as primary keys. I fixed the keys in the databse and this resolved the problem.
