How To: DIY $10 Macro Photo Studio

OK, before we even get started, I should say that the "$10" is a bit of a stretch. Can I help it if I just like to impress people with my expensive photo gear?

Ten dollars assumes you cannot scrounge a cardboard box and some white tissue paper you have saved in the gift-wrap supplies box. You can get this stuff at an office supply store, but it is more fun to scrounge. Besides, we are all about re-use and recycle here at Strobist. (I can proudly report that 98% of my bad jokes are recycled!)

If you have this stuff, the only thing you will need to buy is two sheets of posterboard - black and white. Total damage would be less than $2. Don't blow the rent money.

NEW YORK Jun 28, 2006 (AP)— Pregnant pop princess Britney Spears is baring nearly all on the cover of Harper's Bazaar magazine. The singer of "… Baby, One More Time" posed in the buff for the cover of the August issue; there's also a photo spread inside.

On the cover, Spears, who is sitting, cups her breasts with her hands and crosses her legs while showing her protruding belly and smiling for the camera of lensman Alexi Lubomirski.

"Nothing to wear?" a cover headline asks. "487 Best new ideas inside."

Spears revealed to late-night talk show host David Letterman last month that she was pregnant, confirming media reports and ending much speculation.

Spears, 24, and her husband, Kevin Federline, have a son, Sean Preston, who was born last September.

Sony offers 8GB microdrive for digicams

Sony is getting ready to ship a new 8GB removable hard disk drive for digital cameras in June. The bite-size drive, which has a Compact Flash type II form factor, is 1.5 inches wide by 1.5 inches tall and is set to replace Sony's existing 5GB version.

The 8GB Compact Vault will be marketed to digital-photography enthusiasts. The unit is also suited for digital video recorders and portable music players. Laptop owners running low on space will also appreciate the additional space the Compact Vault drive can provide. /p>

Sony says the drive will retail for $259.99. It can hold up to 2,560 JPEG images, or 320 minutes of MPEG 4 video and can transfer files at up to 12MB per second.
