Police halt strip show at men's club

MONONA, Wis. - No more bare bodies for the old boys. Police on Monday stripped the local chapter of the International Order of Old Bastards of the exotic dancers who have performed at their meetings for decades.

The club, which consists of about 600 members, has met quarterly for at least 40 years, according to a police report. Members must be at least 35 years old, although the average age is mid-60s, said Richard Story, who described himself as the club's newly installed Arch Old Bastard.

Meetings typically draw 200 to 300 members. Story said the group has no charities or social agenda.

"This is for elderly people who just want to have a good time with their peers," Story, a 60-year-old retired engineer and tavern owner, told the Wisconsin State Journal for Wednesday's editions.

Internet user admits 'web-rage'

Paul Gibbons, 47, tracked down John Jones using details obtained online after the pair exchanged insults in an internet chatroom, a court heard.

An internet user has been found guilty of what police said was Britain's first "web-rage" attack.

He travelled 70 miles to Mr Jones' home in Clacton, Essex, and beat him up with a pickaxe handle in December 2005.

Gibbons, of Southwark, south London, admitted unlawful wounding and will be sentenced on 7 November.

Threatening exchanges

The pair met in an internet chatroom called Yahoo, Islam 10 as both had an interest in the Muslim faith, the Old Bailey was told.

Their exchanges soured after Gibbons accused Mr Jones of spreading rumours about him.

"There was an exchange of views between the victim and the defendant which were threatening on both sides," said prosecutor Ibitayo Adebayo.

It's too bad there's no way of knowing the lifestyle choices made by the original owner of that shirt you bought at the thrift store last week.

A new "meth gun," in development by Maryland-based CDEX, enables police to use ultraviolet light to detect trace amounts of chemicals left by methamphetamines and other illegal drugs.

Or is there?

There were 12,139 total meth incidents in 2005, according to the National Clandestine Laboratory Database.

CDEX recently filed a patent application to prepare the device for use in the "Homeland Security market," according to Wade Poteet, a principal scientist working in CDEX's Tucson, Ariz.-based research lab.
