In one case, Israeli interrogators beat 15-year-old Ibrahim S. over the course of several hours. Ibrahim was then threatened with sexual assault for the purpose of extracting his confession. The accusation, which Ibrahim kept denying, was that he had thrown stones at the Israeli army when it invaded his village the day before. A Military Court accepted Ibrahim’s confession and he was imprisoned in Israel for five months.

A 10-year-old boy was subjected to physical abuse amounting to torture for 2.5 hours by Israeli soldiers who stormed his family’s shop on 11 June, seeking information on the location of a handgun. The boy was repeatedly beaten, slapped and punched in the head and stomach, forced to hold a stress position for half and hour, and threatened. He was deeply shocked and lost two molar teeth as a result of the assault.

The troops shut on Monday down a girls school, a sports club and the headquarters of the Solidarity charity. Witnesses said the medical center bears the same name as the charity, but is run by a different charitable organization that once was controlled by Hamas.

The IDF also shut down five other Hamas institutions in the northern West Bank city, including a support group for militants jailed in Israel, an Islamic trade union organization, a medical society and two aid organizations in the Nablus refugee camps of Askar and Balata.

A mother-to-be trapped under rubble for 50 hours after the earthquake in Sichuan gave birth to a healthy baby girl yesterday - a rare moment of joy in the aftermath of the tragedy that killed almost 70,000 people.

A Texas appellate court has ruled that child welfare officials had no right to seize more than 400 children living at a polygamous sect's west Texas ranch.

The Third Court of Appeals in Austin ruled that the grounds for removing the children were "legally and factually insufficient" under Texas law. They did not immediately order the return of the children

Child welfare officials removed the children on the grounds that the sect pushed underage girls into marriage and sex and trained boys to become future perpetrators

The appellate court ruled the chaotic hearing held last month did not demonstrate the children were in any immediate danger, the only measure of taking children from their homes without court proceedings

Palestinian doctors said the dead children were Rudina and Hana Abu Meatik, sisters aged six and three, and their brothers, four-year-old Saleh and 15-month-old Mousab

Recently there was a sex/cult event in Texas. In comparison with this it was a non-event. This has been kept hushed up. Why? Is it because of the involvement of a Haredi Orthodox Rabbi as the prime torturer? Recently another child abuser in Australia was given safe haven in Israel.

Is it opportune while the pope seeks forgiveness in the USA, that abuse of children that would put the Nazis to shame would see the light of day in the 'free and fair' USA media. Is there a word on this atrocity? What society allowed this to happen? This was no overnight phenomenon. What religion sees it as creed to torture children beyond what would be acceptable to the worst criminal or terrorist? How sick is the society?

Cavity-fighting candy helped cut tooth decay: study

Children in the study were testing the effectiveness of BasicMints, an experimental fluoride-free treatment designed to mimic a component in human saliva that neutralizes acids in the mouth that can erode tooth enamel

Researchers at Stony Brook University School of Dental Medicine, who developed the active compound in the mints known as CaviStat, tested them in 200 children in Venezuela aged 10 1/2 to 11 who were getting their adult molars but still had some baby teeth left

Half the children in the study took two of the medicated mints in the morning after brushing with a fluoride toothpaste. They followed the same routine at night

After 12 months, children who took the cavity-fighting mints had 61.7 percent fewer cavities than the placebo group
