clipper's remarks: Like when it was demonstrated to him that his religious companions were bigots that advocated murder. Was it cowardice or courage or the pope and the Catholics that made him have such a radical change of mind and dump his fundamentalist 'friends'?

Apparently they have dumped him back. Hagee has put out a statement saying that he withdraws his endorsement from McCain because he has “become a distraction in what should be a national debate about important issues.”

It takes one type of courage to drop bombs from the sky. Another altogether to order men into battle. A far greater courage to bring home the troops. Which courage does McCain have? Bush landed on a carrier. He wore the uniform. Did he demonstrate any courage?

A 10-year-old boy was subjected to physical abuse amounting to torture for 2.5 hours by Israeli soldiers who stormed his family’s shop on 11 June, seeking information on the location of a handgun. The boy was repeatedly beaten, slapped and punched in the head and stomach, forced to hold a stress position for half and hour, and threatened. He was deeply shocked and lost two molar teeth as a result of the assault.

Public suicide itself is unusual. Suicide is a private act, usually seriously done out of view.
Not at a public event with two presidents and a PM present. And a band. That was a nice touch.

Maybe he was attempting to assassinate Olmert and was taken out first. But shooting yourself and jumping off a height is pushing credibility too far. In a state where Arab mothers and children are responsible for their own murder from the sky, credibility isn't creditable. Where 'judicial assassination' is the norm, this fiasco hardly rates. When the assassin(?) of Israeli PM Rabin is now toasted as a saviour, what should we expect? A state born of terror and murder infects its evil on others. No good god could permit such evil for so long.

A federal judge is awarding Tanya Andersen, who defeated the Recording Industry Association of America's file sharing lawsuit, $108,000 in legal fees to compensate for defending herself against the RIAA.

The award, made public Wedesday by U.S. District Judge James A. Redden of Oregon, marks the second time that a target of the RIAA who beat a lawsuit was awarded attorney's fees. In August, a federal judge ordered the RIAA to pay $68,685 in litigation costs to two Oklahoma women whose case was dismissed.

Judge Redden ruled (.pdf) that RIAA's arguments against legal fees were "misplaced."

"An award of attorney's fees to the prevailing party are 'the rule rather than the exception' under the Copyright Act, and 'should be awarded routinely,'" Redden wrote.

The RIAA has sued more than 20,000 people for copyright infringement.
