Oosah Hosts up to 1TB of Media Online for Free

Web application Oosah hosts a whopping one terabyte (that's 1,024 gigabytes) of media online for free. In addition to hosting videos, photos, and music you upload directly to the site, Oosah also integrates with Flickr, Picasa Web Albums, Facebook, and YouTube. Once you've connected your accounts, you can actually drag and drop photos between webapps—so, for example, if you uploaded a photo to Oosah that you wanted to add to a Flickr set, you can just drag and drop it onto Flickr in the sidebar. Oosah does have its limitations: Apart from hosting media only (no documents or executables here), you're limited to 200MB per video and 9MB per audio file.

You can grab direct links to share any of the files with friends and create and listen to playlists inline. Naturally, the main draw of Oosah is its ridiculous 1TB of storage space, which is unprecedented in the free realm.

Facebook, the rapidly growing social network, unveiled some new features on Wednesday as it works to broaden its reach online and to recalibrate its sometimes contentious relationship with the thousands of developers writing programs for the service.

In a speech at his company's annual conference for developers, called F8, Mark Zuckerberg, Facebook's 24-year-old chief executive, also demonstrated the company's new design. He predicted that there would soon be a wave of social Web sites built on top of the information users give to social networks.

To carve out a piece of that future, the company announced Facebook Connect, a way that other Web sites can integrate parts of Facebook's service. Web sites can ask users for their Facebook user name and password, instead of creating an identity verification system themselves

Syria blocks Facebook access, citing Israeli 'infiltration'

Syrian authorities have blocked Facebook, the popular Internet hangout, over what seems to be fears of Israeli "infiltration" of Syrian social networks on the Net, according to residents and media reports.

Residents of Damascus said that they have not been able to enter Facebook for more than two weeks. An Associated Press reporter got a blank page when he tried to open Facebook's home page Friday from the Syrian capital.

Syrian officials were not available for comment Friday because of the Muslim weekend, but some reports have suggested that the ban was intended to prevent Israeli users from infiltrating Syrian social networks.

Lebanon's daily As-Safir reported that Facebook was blocked on Nov. 18. It said the authorities took the step because Israelis have been entering Syria-based groups.

Human rights groups have regularly criticized Syrian authorities for blocking opposition sites and Internet sites critical of President Bashar Assad's government.
