Florida's Wexler Calls For Cheney's Impeachment

Simon Rose of a group called Democracy for America Miami-Dade said, "There's nothing radical about what we're doing here. Impeachment is in the Constitution."

Wexler, a veteran member of the House Judiciary Committee, hopes to deliver the signatures to the committee in January when Congress returns to Washington.

His 19th congressional district, which is heavily Democratic, stretches along the South Florida coast and includes parts of Palm Beach and Broward counties.

Rep. Robert Wexler, Boca Raton Democrat, has launched a website, Wexlerwantshearings.com, calling for impeachment hearings against Vice President Dick Cheney.

On his website, Rep. Wexler claims that Cheney manipulated intelligence to boost the case for war against Iraq and was involved in revealing the identity of CIA agent Valerie Plame.

Within two days of posting, Wexler claims he obtained over 50,000 signatures and is aiming for 250,000.

Wexler acknowledged it's a ''huge uphill battle,'' because House leadership has not been interested.

Colin Powell presented US-intelligence satellite images of Iraq to the United Nations in February 2003; but did not account for the passage of time.

During Powell's speech, seeking support for a US-led invasion of Iraq in February 2003, he showed specific locations where weapons warehouses awaited immediate terrorist "deployment" from the country of Iraq. On 8 January 2004 Powell altered his earlier comments during a press conference at the State Department, saying, he'd "made it clear that we had seen some links and connections to terrorists organizations over time."

An agreement has been signed in the Turkmen capital, Ashgabat, paving the way for construction of a gas pipeline from the Central Asian republic through Afghanistan to Pakistan.

Cheney Orders Media To Sell Attack On Iran

On August 1st, 2005 the American Conservative reported that Cheney had tasked the United States Strategic Command (STRATCOM) with drawing up a contingency plan to be employed in response to another 9/11-type terrorist attack on the United States. The plan involved a massive air strike on Iran which included the use of nuclear weapons.

The publication reported that, "The response is not conditional on Iran actually being involved in the act of terrorism directed against the United States," meaning that any such attack will immediately be blamed on Iran and any evidence to the contrary will be buried.

Dick Cheney has ordered top Neo-Con media outlets, including Fox News and the Wall Street Journal, to unleash a PR blitz to sell a war with Iran from today, according to Barnett Rubin, the highly respected Afghanistan expert at New York University.

President Bush met directly with talk radio idealogues at the White House last year to push the Neo-Con agenda. Sean Hannity, Laura Ingraham, Neal Boortz and Michael Medved (pictured below) amongst others all attended and received their talking points straight from the President's mouth.

Considering the history of the sordid "fake news" scandal, where millions of dollars were used to create pre-packaged government press releases disguised as news, along with the Armstrong Williams farce, it should surprise no one that such "instructions" are now being handed out to prepare the public for another military invasion.

In two major speeches Friday and Monday, the Vice President, who has long insisted Saddam Hussein and Al Qaeda were allies, Iraq had weapons of mass destruction, we would be greeted as liberators in Baghdad, and that the Iraqi insurgency is in its "last throes," again evidenced his trademark inability to speak the truth.

Continuing the Administration's recent shrill defensive barrage over whose fault the Iraq mess is and with the truth chasing the lies in full public view, Cheney had the gall to smear the war's critics as "corrupt and shameless." Then, within a few sentences, he showed again why 52 percent of those recently polled by Newsweek believe Cheney deliberately 'misused or manipulated" prewar intelligence.

Dick Cheney's own branch of government

The White House has had to defend Vice President Cheney's decision to opt out of a presidential order regulating the handling of secret information by the executive branch. Cheney's reasoning: His office is not really part of the executive branch.

White House spokeswoman Dana Perino insists that this is a "non-issue," but the vice president's effort to create a separate branch of government for himself has become one, and given congressional Democrats an opening to launch another investigation.
