U.S. intelligence analysts eavesdropped on personal calls between Americans overseas and their families back home and monitored the communications of workers with the Red Cross and other humanitarian organizations, according to two military linguists involved in U.S. surveillance programs.

The accounts are the most detailed to date to challenge the assertions of President Bush, CIA Director Michael V. You don't really have to understand the central doctrine driving our current foreign policy to be qualified to be vice president; you just have to be willing to kick some ass. Sure the Bush Doctrine, which says that pre-emptive war is justified in some cases, was our excuse for invading Iraq and our justification for a potential attack on Iran, but Gov. Palin doesn't need an excuse. She needs an apocalypse to usher in Our Lord Jesus' second coming.

So forget about "Bush Doctrine" segment of her interview with Charlie Gibson. The important part is where she talks about going to war with Russia. That’s our apocalypse. It’s a shame she wasn’t president a month ago, because we’d be ass deep in apocalypse right now, with a possibility of having Christ stop by for Christmas.

Clip Source: patriotboy.blogspot.com

Tags: palin, bush, docrine, rapture, war, apocalypse, good, show

<clipSource>http://patriotboy.blogspot.com/2008/09/i-bet-president-bush-doesnt-know-what.html</clipSource>

Bush listens to the Generals...Yeah Right!

clipped by: ratilfar
clipper's remarks: And in other fairy tales, Red Riding Hood wonders if Grandma should go to the orthodontist.

Clip Source: www.washingtonpost.com

During a JCS meeting with the colonels Nov. 20, Chairman Pace dropped a bomb: The White House was considering a "surge" of additional troops to quell the violence in Iraq. "Would it be a good idea?" Pace asked the group. "If so, what would you do with five more brigades?" That amounted to 20,000 to 30,000 more troops, depending on the number of support personnel.

Pace's question caught the chiefs and colonels off guard. The JCS hadn't recommended a surge, and Gen. George W. Casey Jr., the Iraq commander, was opposed to one of that magnitude. Where had this come from? Was it a serious option? Was it already a done deal?

"I can only get part of it before him," Pace said, "and I'm not getting any feedback."

"When does AEI start trumping the Joint Chiefs of Staff on this stuff?"

For many delegates gathering here, that's not a bad thing.

<img src="http://clipmarks.com/image_cache/ratilfar/512/251938E4-8294-447E-B68C-A496DB74D181.jpg" alt="President Bush waves from Air Force One at Andrews Air Force Base, Md., Monday, Sept. 1 2008, prior to departing for Texas to monitor Hurricane Gustav. Everyone assembled in St. Paul hates the circumstances that forced Bush's absence; concern about Gustav dominated every conversation. But given the deeply conflicted emotions that swirl around the president from within his party, Bush's decision to forgo the occasion saves Republicans an awkward moment.

The view toward Bush from this convention is complex. Some delegates praise him for a job well done. Others nurse resentments over a host of Bush actions — the government's botched and insensitive response to Hurricane Katrina, ironically, is at the top of that list.

But most feel a sense of disappointment for what might have been.

Tags: gop, convention, war, empire, conquest, blood, iraq, idiots

<clipSource>http://news.yahoo.com/s/politico/20080901/pl_politico/13039</clipSource>

Georgia is the graveyard of America's unipolar world

clipped by: ratilfar
clipper's remarks: Cont...

There has been much talk among western politicians in recent days about Russia isolating itself from the international community. But unless that simply means North America and Europe, nothing could be further from the truth. While the US and British media have swung into full cold-war mode over the Georgia crisis, the rest of the world has seen it in a very different light. As Kishore Mahbubani, Singapore's former UN ambassador, observed in the Financial Times a few days ago, "most of the world is bemused by western moralising on Georgia". While the western view is that the world "should support the underdog, Georgia, against Russia ... most support Russia against the bullying west. The gap between the western narrative and the rest of the world could not be clearer."

And that has the neocons scare witless!

Clip Source: www.guardian.co.uk

Russia's defiance in the Caucasus has brought down the curtain on Bush senior's new world order - not before time

If there were any doubt that the rules of the international game have changed for good, the events of the past few days should have dispelled it. On Monday, President Bush demanded that Russia's leaders reject their parliament's appeal to recognise the independence of South Ossetia and Abkhazia. Within 24 hours, Bush had his response: President Medvedev announced Russia's recognition of the two contested Georgian enclaves.

The Russian message was unmistakable: the outcome of the war triggered by Georgia's attack on South Ossetia on August 7 is non-negotiable - and nothing the titans of the US empire do or say is going to reverse it. After that, the British foreign secretary David Miliband's posturing yesterday in Kiev about building a "coalition against Russian aggression" merely looked foolish.

Tags: russia, us, empire, georgia, history, hegemony

<clipSource>http://www.guardian.co.uk/commentisfree/2008/aug/28/russia.usforeignpolicy</clipSource>

Bush To Russia: Stop The "Bullying And Intimidation"

clipped by: ratilfar
clipper's remarks: Another from the Dept. of you can't make this $&#! up! Today, a study by the Center for Responsive Politics reported that members of the military are giving more donations to Senator Obama than Senator McCain, and when you just examine those troops who are deployed, Obama attracts more donations by a 6 to 1 factor.

Troops, of course, aren't much different than most Americans, who overwhelmingly oppose the Bush military policy that John McCain would continue (the latest AP-Ipsos poll had 62 percent disapproving of the Bush policy). It's just that troops have a lot more personal experience on this particular issue. We know that those who served believe Iraq has overstreched the military, and for years that those who have fought in Iraq and Afghanistan are solidly against the current policy.

Tags: war, iraq, afghanistan, support, troops, policies, politics, obama, mccain

<clipSource>http://www.huffingtonpost.com/jon-soltz/deployed-troops-donate-to_b_118987.html</clipSource>

Putin's war enablers: Bush and Cheney

clipped by: ratilfar
clipper's remarks: And BTW, this is not "Blame America First" (which would mean Bush/Cheney are America? Security Council. It used massive force against a small, weak adversary. It called for regime change in a country that had defied Moscow. It championed a separatist movement as a way of asserting dominance in a region it coveted.

Indeed, despite George W. Bush and Dick Cheney's howls of outrage at Russian aggression in Georgia and the disputed province of South Ossetia, the Bush administration set a deep precedent for Moscow's actions -- with its own systematic assault on international law over the past seven years. Now, the administration's condemnations of Russia ring hollow.

Tags: russia, putin, us, bush, international, law, chaos, crimes, invasion, war

<clipSource>http://www.salon.com/opinion/feature/2008/08/14/bush_putin/index.html</clipSource>

Crotchety Kristol mad at Bush: Complains about “propaganda” being used in China

clipped by: ratilfar
clipper's remarks: There is a saying in Spanish: "Siempre habla el que menos puede."

In other words, filthy hypocrites should keep their mouths shut!

Clip Source: www.crooksandliars.com

Sometimes the jokes just write themselves. -- Cheap mortgages and cheap gas built this sprawling landscape of tan and gray stucco homes, iron gates and golf course communities. And the people who flocked here over the last decade -- upwardly mobile young families in pursuit of lower taxes and wholesome neighborhoods -- emerged as a Republican voting bloc crucial to President Bush's 2004 reelection.

But listen to Anna Rodriguez and her neighbors who gather nightly on lawn chairs to unwind, and a change comes into focus that could shift the national political landscape in 2008 and beyond.

No, the cold war reading won't wash

clipped by: ratilfar
clipper's remarks: All is not what is what it looks like....

Cont:

Devoted to achieving Nato entry for Georgia, Saakashvili has sent troops to Iraq and Afghanistan - and so clearly felt he had American backing. The streets of the Georgian capital are plastered with posters of George W Bush alongside his Georgian protege. George W Bush avenue leads to Tbilisi airport. But he has ignored Kissinger's dictum: "Great powers don't commit suicide for their allies." Perhaps his neoconservative allies in Washington have forgotten it, too. Let's hope not.

Clip Source: www.guardian.co.uk

For many people the sight of Russian tanks streaming across a border in August has uncanny echoes of Prague 1968. That cold war reflex is natural enough, but after two decades of Russian retreat from those bastions it is misleading. Not every development in the former Soviet Union is a replay of Soviet history.

The clash between Russia and Georgia over South Ossetia, which escalated dramatically yesterday, in truth has more in common with the Falklands war of 1982 than it does with a cold war crisis. When the Argentine junta was basking in public approval for its bloodless recovery of Las Malvinas, Henry Kissinger anticipated Britain's widely unexpected military response with the comment: "No great power retreats for ever." Maybe today Russia has stopped the long retreat to Moscow which started under Gorbachev.

The more Russia drew in its horns, the more Washington and its allies denounced the Kremlin for its imperial ambitions.

Tags: georgia, russia, war, empire, nato, u.s.

<clipSource>http://www.guardian.co.uk/commentisfree/2008/aug/09/georgia.russia1</clipSource>

China on Bush: Don't interfere in our affairs

clipped by: ratilfar
clipper's remarks:

Clip Source: www.msnbc.msn.com

BEIJING - China rejected President Bush's criticism Thursday of its human rights record and restrictions on religion, diplomatically telling him to stay out of its affairs only hours before he arrived in Beijing to attend the Olympics.

In a speech in Bangkok outlining America's achievements and challenges in Asia, Bush pushed for a free press, free assembly and labor rights in China, and against its detentions of political dissidents, human rights advocates and religious activists.
