SPINACH FETA QUICHE

6 c. fresh spinach
1 unbaked 10 in. pie shell
1 tsp. basil
1 c. grated or crumbled Feta cheese
1 1/2 c. grated Cheddar cheese
1 tbsp. unbleached white flour
4 eggs
1 1/2 c. light cream
Dash of paprika

Preheat oven to 400 degrees. Steam spinach, press out excess water. Spread spinach on bottom of pie shell and sprinkle basil over it. Mix together Feta and Cheddar cheeses in medium size bowl. Toss flour into cheeses and spread over spinach in pie shell. Beat eggs well, add cream and pour over cheese. Sprinkle with a dash of paprika. Bake for 15 minutes. Then lower heat to 325 degrees. Bake for 25 to 30 minutes longer until golden and puffy. Allow to set for 10 minutes before cutting.

It just seems that, no matter who it is, so long as they are in the film/entertainment industry, they will be written off as "leftist" members Hollywood and elitists. But I think when enough of anybody says something, there must be some truth in it.

(CNSNews.com) - Richard Dreyfuss, the actor who starred in movies ranging from "Jaws" to "Mr. Holland's Opus," told an audience in Washington, D.C., on Thursday that "there are causes worth fighting for," and one of those is the impeachment of President George W. Bush.

"There are causes worth fighting for even if you know that you will lose," Dreyfuss said during a speech at the National Press Club. "Unless you are willing to accept torture as part of a normal American political lexicon, unless you are willing to accept that leaving the Geneva Convention is fine and dandy, if you accept the expansion of wiretapping as business as usual, the only way to express this now is to embrace the difficult and perhaps embarrassing process of impeachment." 1.	You will receive a body. You may like it or hate it, but it's yours to keep for the entire period.
2.	You will learn lessons. You are enrolled in a full-time informal school called, "life."
3.	There are no mistakes, only lessons. Growth is a process of trial, error, and experimentation. The "failed" experiments are as much a part of the process as the experiments that ultimately "work."
4.	Lessons are repeated until they are learned. A lesson will be presented to you in various forms until you have learned it. When you have learned it, you can go on to the next lesson.
5.	Learning lessons does not end. There's no part of life that doesn't contain its lessons. If you're alive, that means there are still lessons to be learned.
6.	"There" is no better a place than "here." When your "there" has become a "here", you will simply obtain another "there" that will again look better than "here."
7.	Other people are merely mirrors of you. You cannot love or hate something about another person unless it reflects to you something you love or hate about yourself.
8.	What you make of your life is up to you. You have all the tools and resources you need. What you do with them is up to you. The choice is yours.
9.	Your answers lie within you. The answers to life's questions lie within you. All you need to do is look, listen, and trust.
10.	You will forget all this.

SEATTLE (Reuters) - For beverage connoisseurs tired of turkey-and-gravy or green-beans-and-casserole flavored sodas, there's a new choice being offered this year by specialty U.S. soda maker Jones Soda Co.: salmon.

Jones Soda, the Seattle company that scored a hit during the last two holiday seasons with its turkey and gravy-flavored sodas, said it is offering the orange-hued fish-flavored drink this year in a nod to the Pacific Northwest's salmon catch.

"When you smell it, it's got that smoked salmon aroma," said Peter van Stolk, chief executive of Jones Soda.

The salmon-flavored soda will be offered as part of a $13 "regional holiday pack" that also includes other unusual sodas such as turkey & gravy, corn on the cob, broccoli casserole and pecan pie.

BANGKOK, Thailand (AP) _ A new species of freshwater stingray has been discovered in a river in western Thailand, but its chances for long-term survival are slim, a report said Wednesday.

The stingray, measuring 60 centimeters (23.6 inches) in width, was first observed two years ago but was only recently described by Thai and American scientists, said a release from the World Wide Fund for Nature-Thailand.

``Local participatory conservation is urgently needed for the survival of this new stingray,'' the release said.

Thai rivers, including the Mae Klong River where the ray is found, have been plagued by serious pollution, overfishing and dam building which have taken a deadly toll on Thailand's once diverse and abundant river life. The ray is believed to exist in small numbers.

The new species has been named Himantura kittipong after prominent Thai fish expert Kittipong Jaruthanin who first observed the ray in 2004. WWF freshwater biologist Chavalit Vidthayanon and Tyson Roberts of the Smithsonian Institute described the species.

For nearly 10 months in 2002 and early 2003, a PETA investigator went undercover at an Iams contract testing laboratory and discovered a dark and sordid secret beneath the wholesome image of the dog- and cat-food manufacturer: dogs gone crazy from intense confinement to barren steel cages and cement cells, dogs left piled on a filthy paint-chipped floor after having chunks of muscle hacked from their thighs; dogs surgically debarked; horribly sick dogs and cats languishing in their cages, neglected and left to suffer with no veterinary care.

Iams lied to PETA with promises to improve the conditions for animals in its contract laboratories, even assuring us that enrichment programs were already in place, but our undercover investigator saw otherwise. She fought for six months to have a single cheap, rubber toy placed in each cold, lonely kennel. This is Iams’ idea of enrichment.

Our video footage shows Iams representatives touring the facility and witnessing dogs’ endless circling in barren cells, sweltering in the summer heat. Iams knew the truth yet did nothing to protect the animals.

The dogs and cats in Iams’ tests are no different from our dogs and cats at home when it comes to deserving companionship, play, a stimulating environment, and the right not to be tormented in painful experiments.

Luckily, caring consumers know that advances in nutrition don’t have to come at the expense of animals in labs. Help PETA force Iams to end these painful and unnecessary tests, as many compassionate companies have already done.
