XKCD Inadvertently Causes Googlebomb

As I noted yesterday (and was joined by many others)... in an offhand observation xkcd has singlehandedly changed a small section of the Internet. Changing the results from a Google search for "Died in a Blogging Accident" from 2 to (at this writing) over 7,170 in a little more than 24 hours.

If you aren't reading xkcd, you're missing out.

if you look at the history of iTunes, you will see how cluttered it has become by having to accommodate the many features added to iPods over the years. They also continue wow us with petty but impractical ones like “cover flow” as if we were a bunch of attention deficit two year olds.

Apple is on the verge of creating a void in the market where a simple media centric device once stood. This void is now being filled by the Zune, so I write this in hope that Microsoft will continue to offer the Zune as a simple media centric device and not cave to the people screaming for clocks, games, web browsers, and other add-ons. Time, energy, and recourses are better spent improving the users’ music experience.

Games

Are you really that bored? Do you really need to burry your face in a self indulging game of solitaire? Besides, are the games really that fun with an interface that was designed to browse lists of music? If you want to play games, go buy a DS.

Look at the dancer and decide which way she's spinning.

If you think she's going clockwise, you're apparently right-brain dominant (imaginative, philosophical, touchy-feely, impetuous); if you see her going counter-clockwise, you're left-brain dominant (logical, practical, detail-oriented, safe).

If, like us, you are able to alternate views to see her going in both directions, then you're just a plain old genius.

If I want to see her turn clockwise I will see her turn clockwise.. However the real kicker is now I can see her turn left and right if I choose to see her that way. I actually see her turning each way as though I will her to do so. That's awesome!

1983: A Soviet ballistics officer draws the right conclusion -- that a satellite report indicating incoming U.S. nuclear missiles is, in fact, a false alarm -- thereby averting a potential nuclear holocaust.

Lt. Col. Stanislav Petrov was duty officer at Serpukhov-15, the secret bunker outside Moscow that monitored the Soviet Union's early-warning satellite system, when the alarm bells went off shortly after midnight. One of the satellites signaled Moscow that the United States had launched five ballistic missiles at Russia.

But Petrov smelled a rat. "I had a funny feeling in my gut" that this was a false alarm. For one thing, the report indicated that only five missiles had been fired. Had the United States been launching an actual nuclear attack, he reasoned, ICBMs would be raining down on them.

Petrov lives today on his army pension in a village outside of Moscow.

The Egyptians built their entire culture around Dodgeball, constructing great temples in the shape of the triangle, which they had mistakenly assumed for the shape of a Dodgeball.

Brackets were setup and a yearly tournament was held to crown a yearly Dodgeball King, who would then be sacrificed to Oscillation, God of the Dodgeball.

His tribe of people discarded the typical caveman spear weapons and attacked their enemies with large rocks.

They believed that they were looked over by a vengeful god, known as Muhahaha, that would cause plagues upon their village if they did not play six hours of Dodgeball a day and always walk with a left or right strafing motion.

The American's then wrote up a "Declaration of Independence" that proclaimed that "A world withoust Dodgeball arth no world forth thy." And with these simple words, the American Revolution began. The American's were lead by young George Washington, the number one ranked Dodgeball player in all of Virginia.
