Because I'm not so far out of college that I don't still feel the reverberations of indoctrination. The systematic attempt by the academic elite to stifle thought, to promote "diversity" while promoting conformity, is rampant in our institutions of higher learning. Stein's film does not reveal anything that those of us who have stood on the front lines don't already know, in those terms. What it does is drive the point home. There is so much more at stake than just the issue of evolution versus intelligent design, as one example. It's a fight to keep the free exchange of ideas within academia, because without that, we have given up the fight for freedom.

Tags: nazi, ben stein, sophie scholl, thoughts, freedom, college, education

<clipSource>http://blue-dot-blues.blogspot.com/2008/04/die-gedanken-sind-frei-sophie-scholl.html</clipSource>

Reflection of ABC Family's Greek Season 1

clipped by: publicola85
clipper's remarks: This is a spectacular observation on the events of Season One of the new ABC Family hit show: Greek!

Clip Source: federalistnowandforever.wordpress.com

All the events of Season 1 bring up an interesting question, Rusty wants to change who he is and it is not clear whether or not college is the place to do it. Casey wants to be successful within the Greek system; she is concerned with her public image. At the end of Season 1 Rusty doesn’t appear to have changed that much and Casey, after being appointed interim President doesn’t appear to only care about her public image.

Tags: greek, abc, family, fraternity, sorority, college, christian, conservative, sex

<clipSource>http://federalistnowandforever.wordpress.com/2008/04/30/reflections-on-greek-season-1/</clipSource>
