Now, Howard Gordon, the executive producer of the Fox show “24″ has announced that he is also withdrawing his endorsement of the film:

After being contacted by a number of people whose opinions I respect and after reviewing Obsession with their criticisms and concerns in mind, I have asked the film makers to remove my endorsement from the Obsession website and from any future promotional materials. While I remain committed to the film’s essential message — that the hate-mongering promoted by radical Islamism presents a real threat to western values of tolerance and pluralism — I also appreciate that the goal of co-existence and tolerance is not being served by films like Obsession.

Tags: obsession, islam

<clipSource>http://thinkprogress.org/2008/10/06/24-obsession/</clipSource>

The Man Who Stuck His Head Inside a Particle Accelerator

clipped by: Silkweaver
clipper's remarks: Well if you are interested, go and read. But today, for the first time in history, the development of light motors and alloys has progressed to such a degree that the problem of building an aircycle plane is greatly simplified, so it is safe to predict that within a short time a light plane built along the lines of those shown in Douglas Rolfe’s drawing on the opposite page will be commercially produced.

Indeed, as shown in the photograph herewith, a cycle plane already has been successfully designed and flown by Johann Franz, a Czechoslovakian inventor. A tow rope of the type used in launching gliders assisted in the take-off of the cycle plane, “but once in the air it skimmed along with its propeller turning over under power of its motorcycle engine

<clipSource>http://blog.modernmechanix.com/2008/10/05/motorcycles-of-the-air-may-give-wings-to-all/</clipSource>

Alchemy Laboratories

clipped by: JohnWaterman
clipper's remarks: "Thus have I been wishing to reveal to you in this treatise, as far as may be lawful to me, the Stone of the Ancients, that you, too, might possess the knowledge of this highest of earthly treasures for your health and comfort in this valley of sorrow.

I write about it, not for my own good, but for that of posterity, and though my words be few and simple, that which they import is of immeasurable magnitude. Many of know (or maybe not) that you can 'block' comments by other clip users on your clipmarks. While this may be a tool, it appears it only supports those who would mis-use it. Anyone with an opposing opinion can be silenced if the clipper doesnt want others to see anyones comments but those they agree with. I'm ashamed of Clipmarks for allowing this 'tool' to be so easily misused, without any administrative or moderator based decision. So much for the open exchange of free thought and viewpoints.

Clip Source: www.clipmarks.com

User Management

We are passionate about maintaining a positive, civil environment at Clipmarks. It's a rare day when finance officials, leftist intellectuals and ordinary salespeople can agree on something. But the economic meltdown that wrought its wrath from Rome to Madrid to Berlin this week brought Europeans together in a harsh chorus of condemnation of the excess and disarray on Wall Street.

The finance minister of Italy's conservative and pro-U.S. government warned of nothing less than a systemic breakdown. Giulio Tremonti excoriated the "voracious selfishness" of speculators and "stupid sluggishness" of regulators. And he singled out Alan Greenspan, the former chairman of the U.S. Federal Reserve, with startling scorn.

Tags: economy, finance, money, credit, markets

<clipSource>http://www.latimes.com/business/la-fi-euromood20-2008sep20,0,7535469.story</clipSource>

Pictures: “Lego Block” Prison Cells Readied In Utah

clipped by: paleblue
clipper's remarks: I'd hate to speculate the purpose of these, but the way things are going I wouldn't doubt they are for civil unrest..
