It is still up to the user to click that icon to give you the vote. The authority rating for this site is 94; this means that 94 different blogs have linked to me so far. As my authority rating goes up, my Technorati ranking goes down. Remember that down is good for your Technorati ranking.

Many advertisers will decide how much to pay you based on what your Technorati ranking is.

Since your Technorati ranking is based 100% on links from other blogs, you need to get links from other blogs! Many bloggers put a "blogroll," a list of other blogs they like, on the sidebars of their pages. Blogrolls help the bloggers who create them feel like they're in a club with writers they like. Reciprocal blogrolling makes everyone feel all warm and fuzzy. But blogrolls aren't very functional, since static lists of links quickly become invisible to readers.

As I said, Google Reader and RSS Mixer are also options, although they don't have the automatic content selection of MineKey and RollSense. On Google, if you "share" posts from your feeds, you can display that list as a widget on any other site.

Tags: blog traffic, bloggers, blogging, blogroll, feed reader, rss, widget

<clipSource>http://www.webware.com/8300-1_109-2.html?search=feed+reader</clipSource>

Is Page-Rank Leakage For Real?

clipped by: phatmommy

Clip Source: www.webstractions.com

Whether you call it link hoarding or PR dilution, PageRank leak theories have been around for years. There have not been any solid provable studies on the effects of external links in regards to PR leakage and its relationship to how that may affect your ranking in organic search engine results. PR leaking has always been an over-hyped link baiting topic used by SEO-types who just want what you want --- more links.

The premise behind blogs is simple. Link, and you will be linked in kind or more aptly --- United we stand, divided we fall.

In an effort to improve the blog in the name of the almighty PageRank, they are in effect biting the hands that feed them --- the Blogroll members. And of course reciprocity will be the name of game when that hand returns the favor and stops linking back. They may even drop you from their "favorite reading" list as well if they see a trend of link hoarding out of you.

Tags: blog traffic, blogging, page rank, blogroll

<clipSource>http://www.webstractions.com/news/2007/06/blog-link-erosion-interlinking-headed.html</clipSource>

Stupidly Simple Tip to Boost PR and SEO

clipped by: phatmommy

Clip Source: iffect.net

However, here is one simple tip that I really think will boost your Page Rank and SEO, giving you more ‘authority’ in the search engines.

Now here’s the thing; if the blog you’re commenting on has removed NoFollow, and your comment link now possesses ‘Google Juice’, is it wise to always point to your homepage? According to some SEO experts, we should be deep-linking at every opportunity. With Google continually working on producing more relative results, they know that an article on any given keyword, will generally give the searcher what they’re looking for a lot better than a homepage. For that reason, their algorithms are designed to pull up articles with links pointing directly to the article.

Therefore, wouldn’t it be an idea to replace the link to the homepage in the comments section, to one of your best articles? Of course, you’d change the article you’d point to every few weeks of commenting or so, to spread the weight.

Tags: blog traffic, blogging, page rank, commenting

<clipSource>http://iffect.net/2007/05/02/1-stupidly-simple-tip-that-will-boost-pr-and-seo/</clipSource>

27 Lessons Learned About Growing a Blog

clipped by: phatmommy
clipper's remarks: Lots more good ideas in this article - click over and read it through!

Clip Source: www.pickthebrain.com

Just in case you don’t get past number one, my two most important points are a) help people solve a problem, it’s the most powerful way to keep them coming back, and b) differentiate yourself. There are so many blogs that if you don’t stand out, you’ll get lost in the crowd.

It’s not always what you know, who you know is important too. Content brings people back, but in the beginning you need a group of “internet friends” to network with. Don’t be shy about emailing bloggers in your niche, you’d be surprised how receptive they are when you share your best content.

Make people think. It doesn’t happen very often and they won’t easily forget it.

Design matters. If your blog looks terrible, people won’t take it seriously. If it’s too cluttered or difficult to read, people will get frustrated and leave. A great design gives people a warm fuzzy feeling that makes a site worth visiting for its own sake.

Tags: blog traffic, blogging

<clipSource>http://www.pickthebrain.com/blog/27-lessons-learned-on-the-way-to-3000-visits-a-day-and-2200-rss-subscribers/</clipSource>

Importance of Maintaining a "Top Posts" List on Your Blog

clipped by: phatmommy
clipper's remarks: Great advice.

Clip Source: www.stuntdubl.com

You probably have some GREAT posts buried in your archives that I will never see if you don’t bring them to the top. Bring them to my attention!! Show me your crem-de-la-crem. Like 99% of your potential blog readers, I’M IN A HURRY to get to the other 500 feeds I want to read today. Bust out the goods, and don’t make me dig through your cat posts

Think of your best posts page as a sitemap for new users to check out your style. There are two things that will get people to subscribe when they visit - Personality (about page) and style (best posts page). Personally, it takes me less than five minutes to decide if I’ll ever visits a blog again and subscribe with bloglines.
