On June 10, 2008, Dennis Kucinich introduced 35 Articles of Impeachment against George W. Bush.

On June 11, 2008, they were referred to the Judiciary Committee. According to NPR, the Associated Press and the like, they were sent there to die.

That's too bad.

Because George Bush has committed "high crimes and misdemeanors." Impeachable offenses. A lot of them.

He, and his administration, have also created a cloud of confusion and obfuscation around everything that's happened in his administration. Every investigation has ground to a halt, lost in corporate lawyers tricks - refusal to hand over documents, lost documents, redacted documents, officials who can't remember, or, at last resort, refuse to answer subpoenas.

The man who will now make the decision to stash the charges on the shelf until after January, 2009, when Bush is gone, or to open up hearings, is John Conyers.

US elections are rigged long before the voting results are falsified.

The news media helps the process along by making (or trying to make) legitimate candidates disappear.

In the 2008 campaign for president, the candidates the news media are trying to trivialize and marginalize are Ron Paul and Dennis Kucinich.

Why is this done? Simple. To limit the scope of the debate.

In 1992, the "disappeared" candidate was Democrat Larry Agran. He was for rebuilding America's urban areas with the money to be saved by cutting military expenditures dramatically.

The good news is that the Internet has made this kind of chicanery, much more difficult.

Thirty-five articles were presented by Rep. Dennis Kucinich to the House of Representatives late Monday evening, airing live on C-SPAN.

"The House is not in order," said Kucinich to Speaker Nancy Pelosi (D-CA), upon which Pelosi pounded her gavel.

The latest right-wing game is to pin controversial figures, who might have said or done anything objectionable at any point in their lifetimes, to Barack Obama. Then make him apologize for them. Then make him denounce and reject them. And then say he hasn't done enough to "distance" himself from them.

It could be his pastor, it could be his neighbor, it could be someone he served on a board with, it could be someone who donated to him, it could be someone who gave him an unsolicited endorsement (Louis Farrakhan) or it can just simply be someone who is black (Harry Belafonte).

Now, unfortunately, there is one man who is not allowed to play - John McCain. Because the media has decided that while it is eminently fair to attach any person Obama has ever met (or in some cases not even met) to him, you can never look into anyone that John McCain has ever been associated with. He is a maverick, moderate, war-hero, straight-talker.

Help Dennis Kucinich keep his House seat.

Motivated to seize the House seat for its preferred corporate candidate, and driven by hatred stretching back to Muny Light, the Cleveland Plain Dealer -- a very conservative newspaper and the town's only daily -- is trying to push Dennis Kucinich out after more than ten years of loyal and able service to his constituency.

Dennis Kucinich missed 346 of 7054 votes (5%) since Jan 7, 1997.

Ronald Paul missed 687 of 7054 votes (10%) since Jan 7, 1997.

A recent Barack Obama campaign email carried the tag line "We are the change we've been waiting for", drawn from a speech he made after the February 5th primary extravaganza. The line leaves me cold because my resistance to Obama arises in large part from his inflationary rhetoric, but it nagged at me for several days for reasons beyond that. I finally realized that it reminded me of Walt Kelly's famous "We have met the enemy and he is us" line from a Pogo strip on pollution; it's sort of the flip side.

Obama is at pains to simultaneously demythologize himself and cast himself as the harbinger of deep political and cultural change in this country. "I don't want to present myself as some sort of singular figure" is fundamentally at odds with "We are the change we've been waiting for"; there is no "we" in his movement without him. He's the walrus. Goo goo g'joob.

That's not inevitably a bad thing. If Dennis Kucinich could have inspired a personality cult, I might have joined it.

If there is one thing that is obvious, it is that Dennis Kucinich was systematically removed from this election. The corporate media made sure that his voice would not be heard. The Democratic Party excluded him as well. This was not happenchance, this was intentional. Why? Because he represents the people, not corporations. He stands for what nearly every single one of us wants to see accomplished in this country: the restoration of the constitution, worker rights, universal health care. If the citizens actually voted for their own interests, Kucinich would be a true threat to those in power and it would be a major step in reclaiming our democracy. The battle to restore integrity to our republic is a big one. Kucinich is a David before an plutocratic Goliath, and yet the citizens of this country vote for the giant because it can win.

Frankly I'm very surprised by this news. I figured Rep. Kucinich would stick around all the way to the convention:

Kucinich said he will not endorse another Democrat in the primary.

Kucinich's honesty, integrity and advocacy for progressive values will be sorely missed on the campaign trail. Here's another example of Kucinich candor that I read this morning (emphasis mine):

After being excluded by General Electric/NBC from the Las Vegas "debate", Congressman Dennis Kucinich joined Amy Goodman the following day for a re-host of the event. I only wish that they had allowed Dennis to talk more by shortening the clips from Clinton, Obama, and Edwards. Since they all say the same thing anyway, it's not really necessary to hear each one repeat the other. Still, Democracy Now! deserves major kudos for attempting to right the irreversible wrong committed by NBC. Due to this crime, NBC, the sponsors of the debate, and Howard Dean have received an overwhelming response of emails and calls on why we're boycotting them permanently.

Veil of Peace Rhetoric Shrouds Intent of Leading Candidates

Senators Clinton and Obama are using the rhetoric of peace candidates but when pushed admit they will be leaving tens of thousands of troops in Iraq. They have essentially agreed on the same policy along with Edwards, while Kucinich is being excluded from debates.

The recent Nevada debate, that included Clinton, Obama and Edwards and excluded Kucinich, put the Democratic peace mirage on display. It remains to be seen whether the veil of peace rhetoric will be sufficient to satisfy voters opposed to the occupation in the general election.

“Meet the Press” host Tim Russert was understandably perplexed by these statements. He said: “In September, we were in New Hampshire together, and I asked the three of you if you would pledge to have all troops out of Iraq by the end of your first term. All three of you said, you will not take that pledge. I’m hearing something much different tonight.”

Kucinich Kept Off Texas Ballot

How can this be called a democracy when someone running for president isn't even on the ballot?

The Supreme Court on Friday allowed Texas to print presidential primary ballots without Democratic candidate Dennis Kucinich's name.

The court refused to step into a dispute between Kucinich and the Texas Democratic Party over a loyalty oath all candidates must sign to make the ballot.

Kucinich and singer-supporter Willie Nelson objected to the party oath that a presidential candidate must "fully support" the party's eventual nominee. Kucinich crossed out the oath when he filed for a spot on the primary ballot.

A federal judge in Austin ruled against Kucinich last week. U.S. District Judge Lee Yeakel ruled the state party has the right to require the oath. Kucinich and Nelson argued it violated Kucinich's First Amendment right to free speech.

My wall is now permanently dented from my head banging against it so often.

How MSNBC tried to keep Kucinich out of the Las Vegas debate, and how he fought back.

One pundit called the Democratic presidential debate in Las Vegas "a lovefest." It may well have been, but only because the corporate sponsor of the debate, General Electric-owned NBC News and its cable news channel MSNBC, rescinded its invitation to candidate Dennis Kucinich. NBC decided earlier that it would invite the top four Democratic candidates to the debate. Then New Mexico Gov. Bill Richardson dropped out of the race, which elevated Kucinich to the fourth position.

NBC also argued: "A television station does not have to grant unlimited access to a candidate debate. If anyone's First Amendment rights are being infringed, they are MSNBC's."

Unlike the candidates who General Electric/NBC News allowed into the debate, Kucinich stands alone in opposing war funding: "I'm the only person running for president who not only voted against the war, but voted 100 percent of the time against funding the war.

"The Web as a Weapon?" The question begs another: How do you disarm that weapon?

"I agree that focusing a commission to study how Americans 'adopt' belief systems is problematic," said German, "but focusing the Commission on the Internet as an aid to, or facilitator of violent radicalization, will likely result in a recommendation to censor the internet in some manner, which would obviously be a violation of the First Amendment."

Jane Harman, D-Calif., House Resolution 1955, otherwise known as the Violent Radicalization and Homegrown Terrorism Prevention Act of 2007, is a much-needed piece of national security legislation subject to unnecessary paranoia and fear. According to the American Civil Liberties Union, the resolution, which Harman sponsored, is one step too close to an Orwellian nightmare, especially for the Democrats who concocted it.

Who's more terrifying to red states, smart Hillary or savvy Barack? The nation trembles

It's the question everyone seems to want to address, the imponderable and frightening and slightly insane sociopolitical phenomenon that's happening right now to such a degree that even the left is falling all over itself trying to digest and parse and comprehend it all at once, and simply can't.

It is this: Just how the hell did it come to pass and which planets finally aligned and what sort of Kool-Aid has been gulped by the universe that the two white-hot Dem frontrunners, the two brightest lights on the political spectrum for the 2008 presidential election also just so happen to be members of the two most controversial/least represented groups in modern uber-white ultra-patriarchal American snake-oil politics — which is to say, a smart, savvy woman and a smart, savvy black male?

The answer, I'm afraid, is no, we are not ready. Not by a long shot.
