Every investigation has ground to a halt, lost in corporate lawyers tricks - refusal to hand over documents, lost documents, redacted documents, officials who can't remember, or, at last resort, refuse to answer subpoenas.

The man who will now make the decision to stash the charges on the shelf until after January, 2009, when Bush is gone, or to open up hearings, is John Conyers.

John Conyers phone number is (202) 225-5126
US elections are rigged long before the voting results are falsified.

The news media helps the process along by making (or trying to make) legitimate candidates disappear.

In the 2008 campaign for president, the candidates the news media are trying to trivialize and marginalize are Ron Paul and Dennis Kucinich.

Why is this done? Simple. To limit the scope of the debate.

In 1992, the "disappeared" candidate was Democrat Larry Agran. He was for rebuilding America's urban areas with the money to be saved by cutting military expenditures dramatically.

The good news is that the Internet has made this kind of chicanery, much more difficult.

The line leaves me cold because my resistance to Obama arises in large part from his inflationary rhetoric, but it nagged at me for several days for reasons beyond that. I finally realized that it reminded me of Walt Kelly's famous "We have met the enemy and he is us" line from a Pogo strip on pollution; it's sort of the flip side.

Obama is at pains to simultaneously demythologize himself and cast himself as the harbinger of deep political and cultural change in this country. "I don't want to present myself as some sort of singular figure" is fundamentally at odds with "We are the change we've been waiting for"; there is no "we" in his movement without him. He's the walrus. Goo goo g'joob.

That's not inevitably a bad thing. The mindset that allows for war in that region of the world will not alter all that much. But, you're right, the Dems would change the tone and priorities a bit and maybe that's all we can hope for at this stage."

"That's what I'm saying!"I nearly shouted. "Maybe these are not the candidates you or I would have chosen as the Democratic Party's nominee, but they are infinitely better than the rabid warhawk McCain, who knows honor and duty and 'patriotic' warfare and stay-the-course but not much about diplomacy and peace and when enough is enough. He's still fighting the Vietnam War in his head and the 'Islamofascist extremists' are, to him, the 'gooks' (his terms) of the 2

Clip Source: www.smirkingchimp.com

I received the coded message from "Shallow Throat" -- the high-ranking GOP mole in the Bush Administration -- and quickly arranged a Bethesda meeting at the place I was housesitting.

"Everytime I think you and your Democrat friends have some smarts, and are showing some moxie that might lead to a turnaround in public policy, you screw it up.

"You guys fell right into Karl Rove's trap," said ST, taking off the new wig and wraparound shades. "The public is ready for a MAJOR political shift. You had a chance to nominate someone who would represent a real difference between Bush and his manipulators, but you sent Kucinich and even Edwards packing. Now the two left in the race are centrist Dems -- with potentially huge negative numbers -- who are beholden to the same corporate/lobbying interests that stand behind Bush and Cheney and McCain and Romney. In short, the powers-that-be can't lose no matter which party gets into the White House. I wish him the best fightin the good fight amongst the snakes in the HR...

from rev. nick:
If there is one thing that is obvious, it is that Dennis Kucinich was systematically removed from this election. The corporate media made sure that his voice would not be heard. The Democratic Party excluded him as well. This was not happenchance, this was intentional. Why? Because he represents the people, not corporations. He stands for what nearly every single one of us wants to see accomplished in this country: the restoration of the constitution, worker rights, universal health care. If the citizens actually voted for their own interests, Kucinich would be a true threat to those in power and it would be a major step in reclaiming our democracy. The battle to restore integrity to our republic is a big one. Kucinich is a David before an plutocratic Goliath, and yet the citizens of this country vote for the giant because it can win.

Clip Source: www.alternet.org

Frankly I'm very surprised by this news. I figured Rep. Kucinich would stick around all the way to the convention:

"I want to continue to serve in Congress," he told the newspaper.

Kucinich said he will not endorse another Democrat in the primary.

Kucinich's honesty, integrity and advocacy for progressive values will be sorely missed on the campaign trail. After being excluded by General Electric/NBC from the Las Vegas "debate", Congressman Dennis Kucinich joined Amy Goodman the following day for a re-host of the event. I only wish that they had allowed Dennis to talk more by shortening the clips from Clinton, Obama, and Edwards. Since they all say the same thing anyway, it's not really necessary to hear each one repeat the other. Still, Democracy Now! deserves major kudos for attempting to right the irreversible wrong committed by NBC. Due to this crime, NBC, the sponsors of the debate, and Howard Dean have received an overwhelming response of emails and calls on why we're boycotting them permanently.

<clipSource>http://www.alternet.org/blogs/video/74439/</clipSource>

Obama, Clinton Will Keep Huge Military

clipped by: papananook
clipper's remarks: Indeed, Obama, who is often described in the corporate media as the anti-war candidate, went further and said: “I would call for an increase in our force structure, particularly around the Army and the Marines.” In fact, he wants the largest, most expensive military in the world expanded by 100,000 troops
Dennis Kucinich who was excluded from the debate by MSNBC – which is owned by one of the largest weapons makers in the world, General Electric – was given a chance to respond by Amy Goodman on Democracy Now! the next day. He said: “What you’ve heard here is a bunch of nuancing. They’re all saying the same thing, that they will keep troops in Iraq. The troops will be kept there to protect an embassy. It may well have been, but only because the corporate sponsor of the debate, General Electric-owned NBC News and its cable news channel MSNBC, rescinded its invitation to candidate Dennis Kucinich. NBC decided earlier that it would invite the top four Democratic candidates to the debate. Then New Mexico Gov. "The Web as a Weapon?" The question begs another: How do you disarm that weapon?

"I agree that focusing a commission to study how Americans 'adopt' belief systems is problematic," said German, "but focusing the Commission on the Internet as an aid to, or facilitator of violent radicalization, will likely result in a recommendation to censor the internet in some manner, which would obviously be a violation of the First Amendment."

Kucinich, who was one of the scant few to vote against the resolution, was equally suspicious. Jane Harman, D-Calif., House Resolution 1955, otherwise known as the Violent Radicalization and Homegrown Terrorism Prevention Act of 2007, is a much-needed piece of national security legislation subject to unnecessary paranoia and fear. According to the American Civil Liberties Union, the resolution, which Harman sponsored, is one step too close to an Orwellian nightmare, especially for the Democrats who concocted it.

Clip Source: www.alternet.org

"It will no doubt prove to be another bureaucracy that artificially inflates problems so as to guarantee its future existence and funding," Paul predicted in his House speech. A woman or a black guy! The Hope in the air for "Change"! Unfortunately, when you look past all that hype and look at their stance on the strong military, ROTC in the schools, their corporate sponsors and their status quo advisors...it's the same old crap, liberal style. Uncle Rhemus and Betty Crocker!!..they won't even let Kucinich on the stage in a fair debate! It sounds like weve been bought and sold another phony pair, even if the Rethuglicans ARE freaky horrible! I'm not buyin' this, not a bit of it. "Change" my poor ol' Progressive Hippie ass!

Clip Source: www.sfgate.com

Who's more terrifying to red states, smart Hillary or savvy Barack?
