The metaphor for navigation has not been completely defined however one thing remains certain, without a standard keyboard and mouse for navigation on mobile devices creativity for ease of use is key.

Clip Source: www.sitepen.com

Adding the accesskey attribute to link a lets users “click” on that link by simply pressing a number on their phone’s keypad. Valid values for accesskey can be 0-9,#, and * (all of the keys on a standard phone keypad). Displaying which key will activate a link is up to the application as most phones won’t tell the user that a link has an access key. Web site designers currently need to decide on a consistent way to inform users that an access key is associated with a given link. Most apps will use ordered lists where the order of the links corresponds with the access keys. Putting the number in brackets inside or next to the link is another way to denote the accesskey.

They have chosen to associate the main sections of their web site with the access keys 1 through 9:

Tags:

<clipSource>http://www.sitepen.com/blog/2008/05/12/the-key-to-quick-mobile-app-navigation/</clipSource>

David Smith

clipped by: onestepahead
clipper's remarks: A Beacon of Insightfulness and a valuable resource for economical trading.

Clip Source: www.ercouncil.org

David Smith has been Economics

Japanese Candlestick Charting Techniques, 2nd Edition, provides an in-depth explanation of candlestick plotting and analysis, conveying to the reader, in easy-to-understand language, the author’s years of practical experience in this increasingly popular and dynamic approach to market analysis. It includes hundreds of examples that span the equity, futures, fixed-income, and foreign exchange markets and shows how candlestick charting techniques can be used in almost any market. It has been thoroughly updated to include:
* New techniques and strategies
* The author’s concept of the Convergence (when a series of signals converge at one zone, thus increasing the chances for a market turn from that area)

This new edition broadens the book’s focus and all new updated charts, and information on several new areas such as day trading and how candlestick charting can be used to improve returns and help decrease market risk.

<clipSource>http://www.amazon.com/Japanese-Candlestick-Charting-Techniques-Second/dp/0735201811/ref=si3_rdr_bb_product</clipSource>

building icons for mobilellow

clipped by: onestepahead
clipper's remarks: a few rules to fo

Clip Source: mobiko.blogs.com

We all love icons. Icons are commonly used everywhere in GUI. At a recent project meeting where we were discussing "Titan". A few interesting observations came out from the brainstorming session on the purpose of icons and how we are going to use that in our design. First of all, I must say I ain't no big fan of using icons in mobile UI, but if I have to use it, I suggest the following common sense principles.

Keep icons "recognizable". All handheld devices have small displays and although your icon may be beautiful, it takes up valuable screen real estate. If the users cannot tell what the icon is meant to represent, it detrimentally affects the user interface.

Use contrast colors, show depth with shadow and gradients. Handhelds are used in different lighting conditions, and in sunlight they can be "washed out".

Make icon edges stand out. Thick lines are easier to identify in soft light.

<clipSource>http://mobiko.blogs.com/mutant/2008/05/ramblings-about.html</clipSource>

GPS Mapquest for your Phone

clipped by: onestepahead
clipper's remarks: Mapquest never looked so cool. Wireless connections outnumber the 39 million fixed-line phones in India by seven to one” reports Variety. It is valuable for Anheuser-Busch, for example, to know when a 20-something year old male is passing by a bar or restaurant. And in a non-advertising way, “not in a creepy way,” users can see where their friends are without communicating. Using LBS makes the mobile phone more powerful as it becomes more useful and more relevant. Johnson, on the other hand, seemed a bit more skeptical, adding that people normally want to learn about traffic, search and directions – not necessarily where their friends are or where the nearest sale is.

video shortcodes in Europe.
