Archaeologists unearth ancient tools in South Carolina

A local man has unearthed two ancient stone tools in an archaeological dig in Allendale County, South Carolina, a rare find that could provide more information about how early Americans lived.

And if more evidence proves the artefact is a new type of tool and one archaeologist haven't found before, it could be named after Matthew Carey of Hilton Head Island.

The 22-year old, University of South Carolina anthropology major volunteered at the Topper Site where USC archaeologist Albert Goodyear has been excavating for 10 years. Carey found the tools on June 8, the last day of the 2008 dig.

Though it's Goodyear's project, new finds are typically named after their discoverers.

The new find could show it was also a site used by the Taylor people, who lived at least 1,500 years after their Clovis ancestors in an era called the early archaic period.

Goodyear believes the site was a factory for the Clovis people, where they came to make tools.

CHARLOTTE, North Carolina (AP) -- Police may have ignored a warning years ago that a woman with five dead spouses was trying to hire a hit man to kill one of the men, investigators in North Carolina said Monday.

Authorities charged 76-year-old Betty Neumar last month with one count of solicitation of murder in the July 1986 death of Harold Gentry. Gentry's brother had begged investigators for two decades to take another look at the case.

Neumar has been married five times since the 1950s, but each union ended with the death of her husband. Investigators want authorities elsewhere to look into the deaths. Williams said investigators have uncovered a common link among the victims: They all had military experience.

She and her third husband, Richard "Dick" Sills, were living in the Florida Keys when he was shot to death in 1965, Williams said. At the time, police said his death was the result of a self-inflicted gunshot wound

said Neumar was the only person in the room when he died.

A grumpy old man walks into a local First Baptist Church and says to the secretary, "I wanna join this damn church."

The astonished woman replies, "I beg your pardon, sir. I must have misunderstood you. What did you say?"

"Listen up, dammit. I said I want to join this damn church!"

"I'm very sorry sir, but that kind of language is not tolerated in this church." The secretary leaves her desk and goes into the pastor's study to inform him of her situation. The pastor agrees that the secretary does not have to listen to that foul language. They both return to her office and the pastor asks, "Sir, what seems to be the problem here?"

"There IS no damn problem!," the man says. "Looky here, I just won $200 million bucks in the damn lottery and I want to join this damn church to get rid of some of this damn money."

"I see," said the pastor. "And is this bitch giving you a hard time?"

An elderly man in Florida had owned a large farm for several years. He had a large pond in the back, fixed up nice--picnic tables, horseshoe courts, and some apple and peach trees. The pond was properly shaped and fixed up for swimming when it was built.

One evening, the old farmer decided to go down to the pond and look it over, as he hadn't been there for a while. He grabbed a five-gallon bucket to bring back some fruit.

As he neared the pond, he heard voices shouting and laughing with glee.

Skinny Dipping with an Old Man

As he came closer, he saw a bunch of young women skinny-dipping in his pond.

He made the women aware of his presence, and they all went to the deep end.

One of the women shouted to him, "We're not coming out until you leave!"

The old man frowned. "I didn't come down here to watch you ladies swim naked or make you get out of the pond naked." Holding the bucket up, he said, "I'm here to feed the alligator."

The Old Man and The Beaver

     A 110-year-old man is having his annual checkup. The doctor asks him how he's feeling.
     "I've never felt better," he replies. I've got an eighteen-year-old bride who's pregnant with my child. What do you think about that?"
     The doctor thinks for a moment and says, "Let me tell you a story. I know a guy who's an avid hunter. He never misses a season but one day he's in a bit of a hurry and accidentally grabs his umbrella instead of his gun. So, he's walking in the woods near a creek and suddenly spots a beaver in some brush in front of him. He raises his umbrella, points it at the beaver, squeezes the handle, and BAM! the beaver drops dead in front of him."
     That's impossible," said the old man in disbelief, "someone else must have shot that beaver!"
     "Exactly", said the doctor.
