You'd have thought a fur coat would have been the ultimate bear necessity.

But not for the unfortunate Dolores who has lost all her body hair and has just been left with a few tufts around her head.

Vets have been left baffled by the condition of the bespectacled bear, who lives at a zoo in Leipzig.

Bare-faced: Dolores has a condition which means she has gone totally bald

Wrinkly: All the female bears at the zoo have the same condition. They have become a bit of a crowd puller

Full head of hair: These is how Dolores would have looked before she lost her fur. The spectacled bears have a thick, dark coat normally

And Dolores isn't the only one. The sudden hair loss has affected all female bears at the zoo.

Some experts believe it could be due to a genetic defect though the animals do not seem to be suffering from any other affliction.

CHIPLEY, Fla. — A baby missing for five days was found alive and well under her baby sitter's bed, and Florida authorities said Thursday they plan to charge the sitter, her husband and the child's mother.

Investigators found 7-month-old Shannon Dedrick in a box tucked under a bed surrounded by items intended to hide the child at Susan Elizabeth Baker's home near Chipley, a rural Panhandle town, Washington County Sheriff Bobby Haddock said in an interview early Thursday. The baby was placed in protective custody.

Shannon was taken to a hospital but appeared healthy, Haddock said.

She was arrested on charges of drunk driving, first offense. Officers say Strey told them she had started drinking earlier in the day and had had seven or eight brandy and Cokes at different bars in Neilsville.

Eau Claire (WQOW) - A Clark County woman calls 911 to report herself as a drunk driver.

Mary Strey, 49, of Granton was driving home from the bar around 11:28 p.m. on Saturday night when she called 911 to report a drunk driver. When the dispatcher asked Strey if she was following the drunk driver, she told police she was the drunk driver.

As she continued driving towards her home the dispatcher asked Mary to stop her vehicle on the side of the road and turn on her vehicle's flashers, which she did. Police found her parked on the side of the road.

Police gave Strey a field sobriety test. According to the criminal complaint Strey's speech was slurred, she stumbled, was swaying back and forth and could not perform the tests.

At the time of her arrest, officers say her blood alcohol level was 0.17.

A man whose wife was abducted, raped and murdered in Florida last year is suing authorities for negligence, claiming that their mishandling of a 911 call from a witness to his wife's abduction contributed to her death.

Nathan Lee's wife, Denise, was killed hours after 911 dispatchers received a frantic call from a woman who heard screaming and saw suspicious behavior in a car next to her. But because of confusion at the dispatcher center, the information was never relayed to police in the area.

"[We're] making sure this doesn't happen to another family," the father of two told "Good Morning America" today. The witness, Jane Kowalski, who'd called 911, "had found Denise," said Lee. "Crucial information was relayed to a 911 center, and they didn't do anything with that information.

The husband of a California woman who died after participating in a radio station's water drinking contest said he hopes a jury's $16.5 million compensation award following a wrongful death lawsuit will send a message to other corporations dealing with the public.

"It was a preventable thing," Billy Strange told "Good Morning America" today of his wife's 2007 death from water toxicity. The radio station, he said, "had the information months in advance that this could cause harm."

Mother of three died from water intoxication after a radio station contest.

After two weeks of deliberations, jurors last week found Entercom Sacramento LLC, a subsidiary of Philadelphia-based Entercom Communications Corp., liable for the actions of its employees at Sacramento radio station KDND-FM, the Associated Press reported.

Patriot-News investigative reporter Pete Shellem freed a number of innocent people from prisonPete Shellem, a longtime Patriot-News reporter who specialized in investigating questionable convictions, died unexpectedly over the weekend.

Since 1998, Shellem, 49, has written about the suspect convictions of Patty Carbone, Steven Crawford, Barry Laughman and David Gladden.

All were serving life sentences for murder before Shellem investigated their cases. Today, all four are free.

From 1994 to 1996, Shellem headed a series of stories about justice being sold for campaign contributions in the office of then-Pennsylvania Attorney General Ernie Preate Jr.

Too fat to kill? Fla. man uses weight as a defense

(10-29) 06:18 PDT Hackensack, N.J. (AP) --

A man accused of running up and down a flight of stairs to kill a former son-in-law is offering a novel defense: At 5 feet 8 and 285 pounds, he was just too fat to have pulled it off.

An attorney for Edward Ates is making the case that his client wouldn't have had the energy needed to fatally shoot Paul Duncsak, a 40-year-old pharmaceutical executive, from a perch on the staircase.

Lawyer Walter Lesnevich claims that Ates, 62 at the time of the 2006 killing, was in such bad physical shape that he couldn't have pulled off the shooting or the fast getaway the killer made.

Lesnevich said his client's weight has led to asthma, sleep apnea and other obesity-related ailments.

"You look at Ed and you don't need to hear it from a doctor," Lesnevich said.

This is one of the most appalling clips I have posted and I was even hesitant in posting it but people have got to be aware of this kind of crime and what happens right here in this country. The clip is not only appalling but the actions of the people that witnessed the rape are as guilty as the people who committed the crime. I just don't understand that not even one person would not come to the aid of this poor girl. I fear that poor girl will never recover to any state of normalcy after what has happened to her. My heart certainly goes out to her and her family.

5 now in custody in Richmond High gang rape

(10-28) 19:05 PDT Richmond -- Three juvenile boys arrested in the rape, beating and robbery of a 15-year-old Richmond High School student were charged as adults Wednesday and could face life in prison if convicted.

The boys, ages 15, 16 and 17, were among five suspects that had been arrested in connection with the crime as of Wednesday. Police were continuing their investigation and expect to make more arrests.

Police said they now believe that as many as 10 young men may have assaulted the girl Saturday after she left her school's homecoming dance. They initially said that about six young men attacked the girl.

The three juveniles were each charged with rape in concert and penetration with a foreign object, authorities said. The 16-year-old also faces a robbery charge.
