IF YOUR SONGS AREN'T GETTING PEOPLE EXCITED...

here's no way to say it clearer than this: If your songs are not

generating excitement, they are DUDS, and you need to fix your songwriting approach. This website will help you get started writing the kind of songs you should be writing.

We can learn a lot about songwriting by studying architects and watching what they do when they design a new apartment building.

More than anything, the designer knows that no matter how cleverly a building is designed, if that building doesn't generate some public excitement, no one will move in. It's simply going to be the best designed empty building in the neighbourhood. There's got to be something about that building that first and foremost catches the eye of anyone looking at it. If it just looks like every other apartment building in the city, they'll have to work like a dog to get anyone to consider moving into that building over any other one.

Songs are, in essence, "buildings" of a different sort. And if you are simply trying to make your songs, your chords, your melodies and lyrics sound like every other song out there, you've killed any chance of getting listeners excited over your songs.

otiumFX is happy to announce that Sonitex STX-1260 has been released and is available for puchase. Sonitex is a VST effect plug-in for Windows that is dedicated to adding sonic texture to digital audio, and provides detailed emulation of vinyl records and vintage hardware samplers.

When sampling vinyl records on vintage hardware samplers you often get something more than the musical content itself. This "sonic texture" may be a subtle feel, or it may be something that actually plays a defining role to the sample. The key concept in Sonitex is to mimic the cumulative result of every process a piece of music goes through as well as the interaction of these before it ends up as a sample in a contemporary track.

Sonitex includes stages to emulate the mixing stage, overall distortion, vinyl pressing & playback, vinyl noise, frequency fidelity and finally the resolution & characteristics in the digital sampling.

Sonitex STX-1260 is available as a VST plug-in for Windows. It costs $49 and can be purchased through the online otiumFX shop. A trial version will be made available soon.
