The Guaranteed Easiest Way to Make Your Own Pickles

Grab your cukes. Pickle connoisseurs will try to tell you that you can’t use the overgrown ones to make pickles. You can, it just won’t be quite the same.

Cut them. This isn’t rocket science. You can slice them in any manner you choose.

Prepare your brine. Simply boil 3 cups water (bottled is preferred), 1/8 cup kosher or sea (not iodized) salt, and 1 tablespoon white vinegar. Once it has come to a full boil, remove from heat and allow it to cool to room temperature (you don’t want to boil your cucumbers.)

While the liquid is boiling, you can begin packing the jar as full of sliced cucumbers as you can fit (with room at the top). Then add your seasonings, which includes 1/4 cup chopped fresh dill (you can use less, if desired), ¼ tsp mustard seed, 1/2 tsp black pepper (whole peppercorns work well), and finely chopped garlic cloves (5 or more, depending on how strong you want them.) I also add a teaspoon of red pepper flakes

Fill and seal.

TORONTO (LifeSiteNews) - Jim Caviezel, the star of the blockbuster film The Passion of the Christ, told an interviewer that he had been challenged by a friend who was not pro-life to live up to his professed pro-life convictions and adopt a disabled child.

The friend told Caviezel that if he did that, then he would change to the pro-life position. When Caviezel and his wife, Kerri, went to China to adopt not one, but eventually two orphans suffering from brain tumours, the friend reneged on the deal. Caviezel, however, said, "It didn't matter to me because the joy that we had from (Bo) - he's like our own."

The couple's first child, Bo, had been abandoned on a train, grew up in an orphanage until he was five and was diagnosed with a brain tumour. The Caviezels nursed Bo through his surgeries and he remains today at the centre of the family.

"You have no idea the blessings that you have coming" says Pro-Life Caviezel to parents considering adoption.

Since our popular article about high-speed photography of exploding objects, we received various tips and links to the droplet photography and water "sculptures". It takes great skill (and good equipment) to create such frozen-in-time compositions, revealing the beauty, the inherent energy and the dynamics of flowing and dripping water. Some artists substitute water with more viscous liquids, producing even more lava-lamp-like effects. But often just playing with coloring and light is enough to make an effective picture. Crunchy Peanut Butter Trail Mix Cups!

(60 calories, 1g fat, 10g carbs, <1g fiber, 1g protein)

Ingredients:

1 pkg. Sugar Free Fat Free
Jell-O Chocolate Pudding
1 container Cool Whip Free
1/4 cup Crum Creek Brilliantly Blended Soy Nut Mix

1 Tbsp. Reduced Fat Crunchy Peanut Butter

Empty pudding mix packet into a large mixing bowl, add 3 oz. warm water, and stir into a chocolate paste. Place the peanut butter in another bowl and warm in microwave for about 6 - 8 seconds. Add 1 Tbsp. of Cool Whip Free to the peanut butter and mix. Then add the peanut butter mixture to the chocolate paste. Stir Crum Creek Brilliantly Blended Soy Nut Trail Mix into the chocolatey mixture. Fold remaining Cool Whip Free in in (you don't need to mix it completely in-- the marble effect is cool). Spoon mixture into cupcake holders in a muffin tin. Freeze. Makes 12 crunchy-cool cups!
