we don't know if the differences between AP-CfK's Sept. 5-10 and Sept. 27-30 results were created deliberately, but the results sure look suspicious

The more recent poll shows Obama with a 7-point lead among likely voters, both with and without leaners; the earlier poll showed McCain with a 5-point lead with leaners, and 4 points without.

Almost all of this 12-point swing (11 points with leaners) is more than likely almost completely due to major differences between the two polls' samples:

"Somehow," the sample make-up changed from 33-31 Democrat to 40-29 Democrat from the earlier to the latter poll -- a shift of nine points.

After correcting for differences in the samples, almost all of Obama's double-digit pickup disappears, leaving McCain with four- and three-point leads without and with leaners, respectively.

Either AP isn't supervising its GfK cooks properly, or it's directing them to poison discussions of presidential race

The Obama Campaign is holding several illegal "Get Out the Muslim Vote" Drives at swing state mosques this week!

Now you can go to Eid Celebrations and sign up to vote for Obama at the same time!!

Muslim Americans for Obama has announced a series of "get out the vote" events at mosques in Michigan, Pennsylvania, New York, New Jersey, Virginia, and Ohio this week during Ramadan celebrations.

These "get out the vote" events flagrantly violate the tax exempt status of these participating mosques which are strictly prohibited from supporting or endorsing any kind of partisan political activity.

More... Ohio Obama supporters are dragging homeless people off the streets in to vote.

The Iraqi Parliament just banned using mosques during election times

...The law includes a provision that allocates 25 percent of the seats to women and a prohibition on the use of mosques, pictures of clerical leaders and government institutions during the campaign season.

St. Louis County Circuit Attorney Bob McCulloch, St. Louis City Circuit Attorney Jennifer Joyce, Jefferson County Sheriff Glenn Boyer, and Obama and the leader of his Missouri campaign Senator Claire McCaskill have attached the stench of police state tactics to the Obama-Biden campaign.

What Senator Obama and his helpers are doing is scandalous beyond words, the party that claims to be the party of Thomas Jefferson is abusing the justice system and offices of public trust to silence political criticism with threats of prosecution and criminal punishment

This abuse of the law for intimidation insults the most sacred principles and ideals of Jefferson. I can think of nothing more offensive to Jefferson’s thinking than using the power of the state to deprive Americans of their civil rights.

Today the Obama camp responded to this ad with a vile hit piece on John McCain (who did not produce this ad) and abortion survivor Gianna Jessen

In this audio Obama coldly claims two doctors helping a baby born alive after a botched abortion would be a burden when he was arguing against the Born Alive Infant Protection Act at the Illinois state legislature April 2002.

"Essentially adding an additional doctor who then has to be called in an emergency situation to come in and make these assessments is really designed simply to burden the original decision..."

Not even the most liberal members of the US Senate held this view.

But his campaign's Finance Chair, Penny Pritzker, owned a failed Chicago thrift that helped pioneer sub-prime financial instruments and faced accusations of abuse.

Superior Bank of Chicago went belly up in 2001 with over $1 billion in insured and uninsured deposits.

some banking experts say the Pritzkers and Superior hold a special place in the history of the sub-prime fiasco.

Superior’s owners were to sub-prime lending, what Michael Milken was to junk bonds.”

In other words, if you traced today’s sub-prime crisis back to its origins, you would come upon the role of the Pritzkers and Superior Bank of Chicago.

I am not religious, or a card carrying member of the right. I am pro-choice! And, this ad is absolutely devastating.

It makes me think that if McCain-Palin doesn’t fumble, messages like this will peel away layers of previous supporters who will increasingly feel that there has been enough negative info out there about Obama to justify a McCain vote.

There have to be a lot of voters who have already turned on Obama, and just need enough anecdotal evidence to back up their decision when faced with hard core liberals who will vilify America as racist for not electing an African American.

Also, if this continues, I wouldn’t rely on the exit polls. There are going to be a lot of people that are going to walk out of the polling station declaring their vote for Obama. A percentage of them will be lying.

Don’t get me wrong - I’m a big fan of Barack Obama,

But after reading his autobiography, I have to say that Barack engages in some serious exaggeration when he describes a job that he held in the mid-1980s. I know because I sat down the hall from him, in the same department, and worked closely with his boss.

I certainly know what he did there, and it bears only a loose resemblance to what he wrote in his book.

First, it wasn’t a consulting house; it was a small company that published newsletters on international business

essentially the job was copyediting

All of Barack’s embellishment serves a larger narrative purpose: to retell the story of the Christ’s temptation

I can’t listen uncritically to Barack Obama now that I know he’s willing to bend the facts to his purpose.

In Golden, Colo., today, Sen. Barack Obama, D-Ill., took credit for the stimulus package that passed earlier this year.

"In January, I outlined a plan to help revive our faltering economy," Obama said, "which formed the basis for a bipartisan stimulus package that passed the Congress."

Is that true?

Democrats on Capitol Hill who support Obama say no.

Wanting Obama to win, however, none will say so on the record.

But media accounts from the time make it clear that even though Obama, Sen. Hillary Clinton, D-NY, and Sen. John McCain, R-Ariz., all offered legislation to provide stimulus to the economy, congressional leaders looped them and their legislation out of negotiations.

Thirty-five percent (35%) say they expect McCain to win, 34% expect an Obama victory, and 30% say the race is too close to call. (see crosstabs).

While McCain's 35% to 34% edge is statistically insignificant, it is a remarkable turnaround from a month ago when 46% expected an Obama victory versus 28% who thought the Republican would win (see trends).

The new survey also found that 45% of voters say the election will be exciting, up from 23% in mid-August. GOP voters are more excited about the election now than Democrats.

Fifty-three percent (53%) of McCain voters say it will be exciting while just 38% of Obama voters say the same. A month ago, just 20% of McCain voters thought the election would be exciting while 29% of Obama voters held that view.

One week after the conventions, Rasmussen Markets data shows the race to be a toss-up. Prior to the past few days, Obama had been heavily favored (current expectations: McCain 52.2 % Obama 46.8 %).

McCain hits 50% in Rasmussen poll for first time

The Rasmussen Reports daily Presidential Tracking Poll for Sunday shows John McCain reaching the 50% level of support for the first time since Barack Obama wrapped up the Democratic Presidential Nomination. McCain retains a three-point advantage for the third straight day, 50% to 47%

Voters are evenly divided as to who they think will win, but McCain voters are now more excited about the election than Obama’s. Rasmussen Markets data gives McCain a 52.1 % chance of victory while expectations for Obama are at 46.8 %.

McCain is viewed favorably by 57% of the nation’s voters while Obama earns positive reviews from 53% (see trends). McCain is supported by 90% of Republicans and has a six-point edge among unaffiliated voters. Eighty-two percent (82%) of Democrats say they’ll vote for Obama.

The Rasmussen Reports Balance of Power Calculator shows McCain leading in states with 200 Electoral College votes while Obama has the edge in states with 193 votes.

It is funny how they will dismiss anything Rove says because he is eeeevil until he says something they want to hear.

Rove said Obama may not have consciously wanted to attribute Palin with porcine traits when he used the “lipstick on a pig” analogy to describe the McCain campaign’s policies, but it sure looked like “a deliberate slap” at the Alaska governor.

“The only time this word has intruded in recent months in the campaign was in her, you know, self-deprecating remark at the convention. So for him to use the lipstick remark less than two weeks after she used it struck me as too much of a coincidence not to have been a deliberate attack,”

went over the line in attacking the Republican candidate as out of touch because he doesn’t send e-mail or use a computer.

Rove said McCain’s campaign has also gone “one step too far” in some of its ads

Rove said that the campaigns don’t have to tell 100 percent of the tale when trying to score points but they do have to be careful about claims that are flat out wrong.
