That's Barack Obama from today's incredible press conference where the Illinois senator combined petulance and ignorance in an unnerving display of just how unqualified he is to be Commander-in-Chief

For the record, Kennedy and Khrushchev met in Vienna in June of 1961. We were not on the brink of nuclear war. The Cuban Missile Crisis was 15 months in the future.

Reporter spins for Obama by defending Hitler

Seattle Times editorial writer Bruce Ramsey, in an effort to defend Barack Obama against President Bush’s “appeasement” speech, actually ends up defending Nazi Germany, Adolf Hitler, and the Anschluss (the annexation of Austria): Bush, and His Use of ‘Appeasement’.

Democrats are rebuking President Bush for saying in his speech to the Knesset, here, that to “negotiate with terrorists and radicals” is “appeasement.” The Democrats took it as a slap at Barack Obama. What bothers me is the continual reference to Hitler and his National Socialists, particularly the British and French accommodation at the Munich Conference of 1938.

What Hitler was demanding was not unreasonable. He wanted the German-speaking areas of Europe under German authority. He had just annexed Austria, which was German-speaking, without bloodshed. There were two more small pieces of Germanic territory: the free city of Danzig and the Sudetenland, a border area of what is now the Czech Republic.

What Adams Saw Through His Lens

On the left, El Capitan, a rock climbers’ mecca, appears the tallest. The Half Dome and Sentinel Dome arch upwards in the center. And the two Cathedral Spires sit on the right next to the sometimes gushing Bridalveil Fall.

Many people know these sights by name, but more know them by sight alone, as captured through the lens of the legendary American photographer Ansel Adams.

Adams first visited Yosemite in 1916 when he was 14 years old.

Adams ended up living much of his life in Yosemite, and took many of his most well-known photographs there.

“I’ve had people say they are kind of disappointed,” says Glenn Crosby, the curator of the Ansel Adams Gallery. “They only know the park through Ansel’s eyes, and he was only showing you the keepers. The park is not always as dramatic as his work.”

“Someone could be standing shoulder to shoulder with Ansel and come away with a totally different interpretation,” he says.

12. Don’t Chimp

Chimping is when a photographer “Oohs” and “Aaah” while looking at images on their LCD screen. If you’re photographing something don’t get caught up in the self-gratification of reviewing your photos. Check to make sure your settings are ok, but keep your eye on your subject and remember #11.

1. Have a camera bag that enables you to easily and quickly access your camera

Look for bags that have quick access flaps and aren’t cumbersome to secure.

2. Be sure to have not just (1) one fully charged battery but (2) two

3. Be sure to clean the front and rear elements of your lens to minimize spots (optionally cleaning your camera sensor)

4. Before heading out make sure you have CF cards in your camera that are empty or have lots of free space

5. Pre-set your camera settings for the type of subject you’re aiming to photograph

6. If you have a camera with image stabilization or vibration reduction set your lens appropriately for the subject

7. Have needed filters on your lens or take filters off your lens as necessary before heading out.

8. It may sound obvious but take off your lens cap.

9. Head out with a notion of what you’d like to photograph and how, but always keep your eyes open for new subjects and the unexpected

10. Have your camera on and your hand on your camera bag

11. Stay focused

Well, wouldn’t you know it. The New York Times has been forced to admit that their doom and gloom reporting on Sadr and his thugs have been wrong. And on the front page of all pages.

Three hundred miles south of Baghdad, the oil-saturated city of Basra has been transformed by its own surge, now seven weeks old.

In a rare success [ed. puhlease, nothing rare about it. plenty of successful stories going on starting with The Surge], forces loyal to Prime Minister Nuri Kamal al-Maliki have largely quieted the city, to the initial surprise and growing delight of many inhabitants who only a month ago shuddered under deadly clashes between Iraqi troops and Shiite militias.

This report comes the same day that Sadr signed over control of the Sadr city to the Iraqi government and they acknowledge that the elected government of Iraq is the sole legitimate authority in Sadr City and everywhere else in Iraq:

(2008-05-13) — A day after Republican presidential candidate John McCain unveiled his cap-and-trade plan to defeat the imminent threat of global warming, a coalition of conservative voters announced it would enthusiastically support his proposal by refusing to burn fossil fuels on November 4, 2008.

“We’re eager to live out Sen. McCain’s conservative vision for the earth,” said the group’s unnamed spokesman, “by keeping millions of Republican-owned SUVs and pickup trucks in their garages on election day.”

The coalition said the symbolic move would not only “cut carbon emissions by thousands of tons,” but it would also “put a president in the White House with John McCain’s views on the global warming issue.”

According to an op-ed in the New York Time called "President Apostate," Barack Hussein Obama was indeed born a Muslim:

As the son of the Muslim father, Senator Obama was born a Muslim under Muslim law as it is universally understood.

Of course, as most Americans understand it, Senator Obama is not a Muslim. He chose to become a Christian

None of us chose the religion we are born into. If we want to discuss Obama's religion, then by all means ask why he chose a Marxism-tainted bastardization of Christianity when he was an adult

That simply shouldn't have mattered... until, as Charles Johnson notes, the Obama campaign was caught lying about his never having been a Muslim on his own Web site:

It shows an Obama campaign that has very little faith of the ability of the American people to think for themselves.

Barack Obama may have been born a Muslim, but he chose to become a liar. To most of us, that counts far more against him.
