They loosen up, feel more uninhibited, express themselves more openly. Researchers call this the "disinhibition effect." It's a double-edged sword. Sometimes people share very personal things about themselves. They reveal secret emotions, fears, wishes. Or they show unusual acts of kindness and generosity. We may call this benign disinhibition.

Tags: article, online, behaviour, people, internet, browse.

<clipSource>http://www-usr.rider.edu/~suler/psycyber/disinhibit.html</clipSource>

People who feel wronged can really take it to heart

clipped by: mugofcoffee

Clip Source: www.latimes.com

A new study found that people who thought they were treated unfairly were more

Even for a day. When asked for your opinion, say, "I don't know." You'll baffle people, sure, but maybe that's a good thing. You can be the Quiet Man. Let them try to figure you out.
I'll add: at the same time, don't be mysterious to the point of inscrutability. Share your thoughts when appropriate. If you've practiced listening to others, you'll have reserves of knowledge and experience to draw upon, which tends to compel people to listen to you in turn.

Clip Source: www.esquire.com

How to Listen

By Tom Chiarella

Somewhere along the line, someone decided we could all be experts.
Historically, June tends to be the most popular month for weddings. The reason has less to do with nice weather and more to with an ancient Roman goddess named -- you guessed it -- Juno.
This article from Associated Content explains that Juno was the Roman goddess of marriage. For this reason, many Romans chose to honor her by tying the knot in June. Like a lot of traditions, this one stuck.

honoring Juno isn't the only reason why June is such a popular wedding month. According to Associated Content, couples often married in June so they could time the conception of their first child.
This way, the wife wouldn't be too far along in her pregnancy to perform the manual labor required during harvest time. Romantic, eh?

The site SuperWeddings.com offers a different theory. Apparently,

during the 1400s and 1500s, people took their "annual bath" during May. So, "the over-all population was smelling relatively fresh in June, making it a good time to hold a special event like a wedding!"

Tags: marriage, june, august, people, married.

<clipSource>http://ask.yahoo.com/20070420.html</clipSource>

13 million people hug stranger & brighten up

clipped by: mugofcoffee
clipper's remarks: their lives...

Clip Source: www.mindhacks.org

If everybody went out today and hugged a complete stranger imagine what effect this would have on human nature throughout the world.

FREE HUGS!

Sometimes, a hug is all we need. Free hugs is a real life controversial story of Juan Mann, a man whose sole mission was to reach out and hug a stranger to brighten up their lives. In this age of social disconnectivity and lack of human contact, the effects of the Free Hugs campaign became phenomenal.

As this symbol of human hope spread accross the city, police and officials ordered the Free Hugs campaign BANNED. What we then witness is the true spirit of humanity come together in what can only be described as awe inspiring.

Watch this incredible show of human spirit and then I urge you to go out and hug a stranger, 13 million people the world over already have:
