So there was this girl. She enjoyed writing, and was having moderate to middling success at it. Some days were long. Some were hard. Sometimes she felt simply tapped. But she kept writing with no changes for one reason, and one reason alone: she had the next step laid out for her.

So what’s the easy trick to staying motivated?

Schedule yourself in advance.

Here’s why: it’s too easy to let emotions dictate whether we continue to work on our dreams. When you have a bad day, it’s natural to want to take a break. But a break becomes a rest, a rest becomes a hiatus, and that becomes, well… the black hole of doom. Before you know it, you’re sucking your Doritos-dyed thumb, zombified out in front of Saved by the Bell reruns (or Walker, Texas Ranger—your call).

Create the Next Step When Times Are Good

So you had a bad day. It happens. Check your calendar and look ahead to tomorrow. As Scarlett O’Hara, my favorite procrastinor, would say, “Tomorrow is another day.”

DENVER — Senator Edward M. Kennedy, struggling with terminal brain cancer, arrived on Monday night at the Democratic National Convention in a triumphant appearance that provided an emotional start for the event as the party turned to a new era and gathered to nominate Senator Barack Obama for president.

Mr. Kennedy arrived at the convention center here shortly before dusk, accompanied by a flock of family members. He walked a few halting steps to a waiting golf cart, which drove him into the hall where Democrats are meeting this week.

Mr. Kennedy walked out with his wife, Vicki, who kissed him and left him at the lectern. The crowd, many of them wiping tears from their eyes, would not stop cheering until he settled them down

“My fellow Democrats, my fellow Americans, it is so wonderful to be here,” Mr. Kennedy said. “And nothing is going to keep me away from this special gathering tonight.”

Yet another day of wanting to write, sitting in front of the system, waiting for the inspiration to come: yet another day of searching for her leftover clues, ideas and imaginations scattered across her multiple files and folders!

Yet another day of closing down the system after emptily browsing on the net, while the mind was trying to browse for new ideas from the deep vistas of its imaginations and experiences!

She cannot imagine her world without writing! The writing is her whole sale companion and her comfort-factor! The writing had filled in her life soothingly and had healed her a lot while she had gone through quite a few ups and downs in her life and living!

Some people tend to smoke, some tend to drink, some take on to gossiping and some goes napping, to ease their anxiety pangs and she took up writing!

I long to become a fourth grader…rushing to school and more importantly rushing back home, with so much of hunger that I could eat the entire world of food items…

I long to belong to every one, just like a kid belongs to, smiling at every one, laughing, feeling happy and content even with a single lollypop and with a cup of hot chocolate…

long to jump into the water poodle, happily walking into my home with a wet and dirtied clothing and I long to hug my family and friends with the wholehearted love and

affection of a child, without ever having to worry about my spoiling their clean and white attire!

I long to become a kid again!

I long to fight with my parents for the packet money, explaining my bogus requirements sincerely and spending my money on films, friends and on my frequent visits to the far-off restaurants!

I had seen a picture of a woman banging her head on the wall and was crying for her dead man!

I had seen the pictures of the advancing army, the erupting buildings due to the bomb blast, the bewildered children and of the lonely senior citizens…

I had seen pictures and more pictures of agony, bitterness, utter disbelief and absolute madness!

Why so much of hurt all around the world?

When this violence and the destruction contributed by the mad terrorists, the mad neighborhood and the mad countries shall come to an end?

How can someone hurt the other people? How can any one hurt the others?

What kind of a psychological make up that is and why?

Why we shall have to look at pictures after pictures of blood, ruthlessness, hurts and violence day after day?

Is this the fault of the genes, the fault of the society, and the fault of the government or that of the great God?

What is the answer and where is the answer?

How to resolve this and when to resolve this?

It is a place I can go for a hug!

Eighteen years ago, aged 28, Maria was diagnosed with HIV.

Given just five years to live, she became depressed and lost her job and desperate to escape the negative reactions of her family and friends, she moved from her home-town of Madrid to Brighton.

She has benefitted from the emotional and practical support of staff and volunteers at Open Door, a charitable day centre located in a discreet terraced house by the seaside.

But the centre, which began its work in the mid-1980s at the height of the Aids crisis, is set to close this autumn.

It is not the only such service under threat. Others are closing or merging, which campaigners say is a sign of the changing nature of the HIV epidemic in the UK.

All through her life she thought that love was everything and was never ever bothered about the money! She gave her entire life, time and energy to her family, undemanding in her love and affection for her husband and her children. And then one fine morning, as they show in the movies, her husband had told her that he found another woman more attractive and more youthful than her and had coolly walked out on her! Her children had grown up and flew away from her protective nest! She was left with a place to live in and the savings to live for about four months from then on!

She never knew of any trade nor was she trained in any particular job: however, she was good in narration: she had realized that she could say something to someone in such a way that it would go straight to their heart or arrest their attention right away: she had started writing…

Breastfeeding trust hormone clue

Scientists have for the first time shown how a "trust" hormone is released in the brains of breastfeeding mothers.

It is further proof that breastfeeding promotes the maternal bond through a biochemical process.

The team at Warwick University said the hormone oxytocin was known to be released during breastfeeding but the mechanism in the brain was unclear.

Oxytocin also produces contractions during labour and causes milk to be "let down" from the mammary glands.

The hormone is produced in the hypothalamus - the part of the brain that controls body temperature, thirst, hunger, anger and tiredness.

It has been shown to promote feelings of trust and confidence and to reduce fear.

The study, published in the journal PLoS Computational Biology, found that in response to a baby suckling, specialised neurons in the mothers' brain start to release the hormone from the nerve endings.

This Olympics will be about taking part, rather than chasing medals..

Samiya, 16, says she has been pressured to stop competing

Mohamed Olad Hassan, in Mogadishu, met a young sprinter representing conflict-wracked Somalia.

Somali athlete Samiya Yuusf Omar is just 16-years-old. She comes from a destitute family with no breadwinner.

Militiamen in this Muslim country often prevent her from training, saying women should not take part in sport.

Samiya came last in her African championships heat

"Early in the morning... sometimes I come to a roadblock set up by either government troops along with Ethiopians or armed militia, who prevent me from going to the training," she added.

When she can get through, Samiya practises on a track full of mortar craters at the Mogadishu Stadium, almost destroyed by the years of war.

Somalia has been damaged by years of civil conflict and lawlessness

When she was named as part of Somalia's Olympic team earlier this year, the honour kindled her hopes for the future.
